I just think she's a paranoid b**** - she just automatically assumes that everyone around her thinks she's "weak" or "spoiled" and gets all defensive when someone asks her a simple question (she scolds poor Ysolda right in the middle of the market just because she asked her something about her job at the inn).

She is quite easy on the eyes, though... too bad she's a neurotic mess who dates one of those spineless Battle-Borns.

It's not an isolated case; I kept wondering why female Redguards had children that looked nothing like them when children are supposed to take after the mother.

The devs probably lacked the time or resources to create Redguard children.

Couldn't they have just recolored Braith and Endon's daughter with dark skin and black hair?

Hell, now that I think about it, someone ought to make a mod for that if they haven't already. It would make for a small but nifty tweak.

I chalk it up to her having an inferiority complex. Olfina probably realizes that no matter what she accomplishes, Eorlund will always be 1000x the Graymane she will ever be.

Someone should make a mod for Argonian, Orsimer, Bosmer,  and Dunmer children too.

I haven't played a male character so she always just says something about proving yourself.  Obviously she has a bit of a chip on her shoulder, but maybe she has reason, who knows.  Probably growing up with Avulstein and Thorald as brothers.

There also seems to be some latent sexism in Skyrim even though women are more or less in all roles.  I think it's Sylgja who says "I can break rock as well as any man" and sounds quite defensive about it.  And I think it's she who got injured carrying food to the miners- so possibly there's an expectation that that is woman's work.

I like both Olfina and Jon, though.  I want Olfina to become jarl, marry Jon and have cute Viking babies.

Don't all the kids look the same though for the most part?

I'm playing my first male character, and I suddenly understand why Olfina might be considered offensive to males. If you play as female, you get the pep talk; as a male, she is a beyotch. Even though I knew she was going to be like that (from reading it in this thread), it was still jarring to witness. It was like she had a split personality. I must admit, I like the kinder, gentler version much more.

I've decided that my rendition of Cutlass Jack is joining the Dawnguard. He's only level 15 right now, but he'll be Arrrghs-kicker before long. The last thing I did before calling it a night was to have him meet Lord Harkon, and get unceremoniously booted to the curb.

Just about all of the kids in the game are spoiled, undisciplined little s***s who talk back to their elders without consequence. Every once in a while, I do the parents' jobs for them and knock the snot out of those one of those little brats (especially Braith). Too bad you can't go all the way and turn them over your knee - that would actually be pretty hilarious. :P

^ That I might consider paying for.

Is there any consequence for dragging Serana around, and taking a looong time to get her home? Just for giggles, I took her into Broken Oar Grotto, along with my fave pops Belrand, to take out the Blackblood Marauders for Ahtar. I've also taken her into Wolfskull Cave, for a little backup. I don't usually push it, though; just curious if she says anything if you take too long?

(Sidenote: You're right, Green, you really do have to be careful with that favor quest for Ahtar. Last night is the first time I've gotten it to trigger in countless playthroughs. The only way it triggered was to ask him immediately following the execution.)

Nah that one kid at the Inn is pretty cool.

He acts all grown up and stuff then one of the options are

"My you sound grown up for your age"

and he goes

"we don't take back talk in these parts"

I love that. I'm sure I didn't get that word for word, but still that kid kicks ass, and will one day rule skyrim I'm sure given the other brats he's got to push aside.

LOL. I was talking more about Braith and Nelkir - Frodnar is a little troublemaker and could use a bit of discipline as well, but not near as bad as those two.

Nelkir's sister, Dagny, as well - she's spoiled and needs to learn that the "skeever hole of a city" she lives in owes her nothing.

Mila Valentia seems to be well-bred, if that's the right word for it.

Helping her mother, learning a trade and being polite for a child instead of just talking smack to her elders.

Serana will only nag you if you start a quest that requires her to be a follower.

"I hope we can get to the ancestor glade soon."

I don't much care about Olfina's sexism. Let's have her beat a dragon to death with her fists, and then I'll listen to whatever she has to say.

Sexism?  LOL  That seems a bit extreme.

People are so sensitive on behalf of their tender dovahkiins.

@blaidfiste - thanks! I'll have an entourage for a while, then, methinks. Between Serana, Belrand, and my character, we'll have more summons than we know what to do with! I just wish Belrand would summon an Atronach instead of a Familiar. Hmmpf.

She seems to assume that all, or at least most men are nothing but chauvinist pigs who think she's weak - this is sexist.

What's her name in Riverwood assumes all women are after her husband, too.

People take offhand NPC comments so seriously.
