I don't think the Skyrim price will go down so soon after release date but probably they will bring back the QuakeCon package deal for the Winter Sale, so if you buy skyrim and Rage, you will probably be able to get the quakecon pack for $39.99

I'm going to see what race I like the look of the most first.
The class I'll make is a dual sword wielding rogue with some magical talent.

I totally caved today and pre-ordered.

We have lost a brother.

C'Mon, Brry Miller...you cannot resist. It is....your...destiny. You must preorder, or come November 11 at midnight you will be twirling your thumbs knowing all of us are deep in the land of Skyrim, surrounded by deep fantasy.

I don't want to buy it for $60, and I don't want to play it on my outdated MacPro. I'd rather play it on the work computer that we're buying/building specifically for our small game dev biz.

The Steam Winter Sale will be dropping right after Skyrim, so even if I was in the technological area to buy it, I'd still wait.

I went for the $60 because I'm a console gamer and prices don't drop quick enough after release to justify waiting a few weeks instead of enjoying the ****** out of this for those weeks and .99 cent release date shipping is glorious. I've been waiting too long! It needed to be done!

Don't feel bad. It wasn't worth 90 bucks.

GTA: San Andreas is cheap now, tons of fun, and has a huge amount of mods available for selection.

Call of Duty 2 has one of the best single player campaigns for an FPS.

Metal Gear Solid 3 has some of the best stealth mechanics and thrilling, dynamic gameplay that would be a perfect timesink before Skyrim.

Super Mario 3 is a  masterpiece that can be played with a GBA Emulator.

Picking a game off of your list, I'd say Borderlands. The price is decent and the game can a lot of fun with a few buddies. Despite it being labeled as an FPS-RPG hybrid, I don't consider it to be an RPG.

It seems like you're in the mood for an action adventure type, so I'd also suggest Resident EVil 4 or possibly 5. Batman Arkham Asylum is relatively cheap now, so that'd also make a great choice.

Or how about some excellent tactical shooters like Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, Rainbow 6 Raven Shield/Rogue Spear or the original Ghost Recon ?

Civ 5 is completely underrated. I have absolutely no idea why the entire gamer community sh*ts on it.

I didn't get the Collector's Edition either, I pre-ordered the regular edition by choice. $150 for a dragon statue is just rediculous. The main things tugging me to get the collector's edition were the art book and the making of dvd. I'm a little sad to give up on those, but not for $150! While he items in the Skyrim collector's edition are nice, they are not worth that money. So, think of it this way...on 11-11-11, some people will get a copy of Skyrim with an art book, a dragon statue and a dvd but I'll get a copy of the game, a nice bottle of scotch and a couple of 12 packs  of good beer for that price. I think my collector's edition is better for the money. Image IPB

Ten years from now I could just see me married and my wife telling me to "toss out that stupid dragon statue already!" And me with the lame comeback "Aww...but it came with the Collector's Edition!" and realising how stupid that sounds, and realising how much extra I paid for a cast resin statue.

I enjoyed it hell I've played it way more than Civilization 4. But there was a lot of problems with the game. The AI always spamming new cities and building armies and nothing else. I don't think anyone can justify Gandhi starting wars when "random AI" wasn't enabled. Also there is way too much dlc already and the new civs cost way too much did vanila Civlization 4 not have more starting Civs? I can't remember. But I do really love the change from square of doom to 1 unit per tile. It was needed.

@Saren Borderlands co-op? =D

Sympathy4saren- Ok I understand now that the scrolls are one time casts. Are they used the same way for which regular spells are used? Another words selecting the scroll and and using the "C" button to cast it?

Now the Idea of a house sounds cool especially since you can store things in the house as well. That will sure come in handy. I like the robe as well.

As for class I'm running a Female; Benton Battlemage with mage as my birth sign. Don't ask me why but it sounded good at the time. Thought about running a custom one but since it's my first time I figure I'd go with the battlemage sounded neat. Of course was thinking I could of done up a Palidin as well.<LOL> But since I'm not to sure of the skills and leveling up procedures yet I figure wait on the custom character.

Speaking of Leveling up that leads me to a few other questions.

1. How do you level up in the game? I noticed while playing through that i would see something on screen mention for example your spellcraft has went up or something like that there. Is it done automaticly?

Do you have to sleep in the game? Or is the Pc required to sleep?

Naughty- now you and others said not to worry to much for now about the main quest which has to do with the amulet the Emperor gave to me just before he was killed and to take my time and explore around and walk everywhere and do some exploring of the lands. Now if I go into a gave or some other place and clean the place out. If it's part of a quest for which I've yet to obtain from someone will the quest be broken?

Also will any merchant buy my crap for which I've picked up so far? Need to unload a bunch of stuff to make room for more stuff to make more gold. I think I"ve only got a 150 max. Is there any way to increase what you're allowed to carry?

Sorry for all the questions folks but will have to admit that so far the game is pretty cool. Would love to get into more but worried about doing something that I shouldn't do right now. So any answers would help me out.

I didn't realize that  dual wielding was allowed in the ES series. Is that only certain classes that can Dual wield? What are the restrictions if any?

Dual wielding was implemented for Skyrim.

You increase your skill values by using/spamming the respective skill. You gain actual levels by increasing the "major" (class) skills a few times.

Word of caution!
It's possible to gain new levels very fast if you use your class skills a lot. That's actually not beneficial - quite the opposite - as it will lead to tougher enemies who always level with you, with better equipment!
Also note that you get attribute increases on level ups. how many points you can add to each attribute depends on how much you raised related skills since previous level up. This can be between +1 and +5. If you use mainly class skills, you will gain levels very often and you will have miniscule attribute gains on each level up (+1 or +2).

The strongest builds have their least used skills tagged as major. And maximize the other skills to get +5 modifiers  for chosen attributes on level-ups, while levelling at a slow pace.
