It'd be awesome if you could adopt Aventus - he has no one to look after him and never returns to Honorhall AFAIK. It'd also be cool to be able to adopt some of the tots from Honorhall, now that I think about it.

Edit: is there any chance Hearthfire includes seasonal changes? I remember seeing that in the Game Jam video too, and that alone would probably make me reconsider to purchase it.

Oooooh I would love to have that and flow shaders added to the game. As it is when I show people what the game looks like (on ultra settings, hi-res textures, fx injector, etc.) they're always "oooh" and "wow!".

Better hope you don't hear him chanting in a dark room, "Sweet mother, sweet mother, send your child upon me..."

I remember Todd Howard mentioning something about making an attempt to integrate mod-type add-ons for console users. Didn't he say something like that? This DLC seems to me to be a delivery of what he was talking about. It sucks you guys have to pay for it (I really don't think you should have to) in my view, but at least, I suppose, you get a taste of it.

As for me, I already modded on build a home, and promptly deleted it, so I'll pass since I have about 45 other free "DLCs" added to my game at present.

As a guy who generally just stores loot in his houses in Skyrim, I am thoroughly uninterested in this new DLC.

Too bad.

Apparently Microsoft refuses to allow free DLC things like the workshop.

I support this though since its something for the consoles which they dont have.
Shockingly Skyrim does not revolve around the PC.

He's gonna be adopted into the Dark Brotherhood where he'll begin training.

Wow...people are complaining about FIVE DOLLARS.

That is a meal at McDonalds.
Dear lord.

I bet they could GIVE you five dollars for it and people would still scream.

We'll see if Hearthfire is worth the price of admission - $5 is pretty cheap by most DLC standards, but that of course means the amount of content in it is quite small compared to Dawnguard which was pretty much an expansion. Hopefully what it offers will be nifty enough that I feel like I got my money's worth.

I'll just go ahead and apologize if I came across a bit pompous or pretentious in my last sentence, it was unintended. I'm just a little disappointed with the DLC subject matter. I think Hearthfire might be a cool thing if you're on a console...and let's face facts here, that's where most copies of Skyrim reside...and I'm certainly in possession of one.

Not to mention Skyrim is good enough, they could have completely foregone DLC, and I would have barely noticed.

So I started thinking about WHERE I will put a house.

Main: Whiterun Hold.
Orc: Wont build a home, since he lives with the Companions.
Altmer: Right next to Winterhold, hopes he can rebuild it
Dunmer: Right next to Ivarstead
Khajiit: A home right next to the Dark Brotherhood HQ.

Shame there is no free plots in cities.

Seeing as Dawnguard was not worth 20$ at all imo(still enjoyed it alot but 20$? just no), I shutter to think what content this new dlc will have.

Out of curiosity: did you buy any of the expansions for the previous TES titles? Shivering Isles? Bloodmoon?

So making a piece of DLC that's not storyline-related is taking a step backwards? I never would have guessed.

It is when the said dlc is
1:Not intresting
2::Should be free for what it gives(building a house for five bucks? Really? This is horse armor all over again.)
3:I can download a similar mod for free or download one of the many epic house mods, for free.

This dlc in my eyes is a waste of time. I was looknig forward to anothewr adventure. Not...this.

That's pretty much how I feel.  I could see this as being part of a larger DLC, ideally one that expands on the civil war and Skyrim's politics in general, or has something to do with Nord lore.  I am not happy about Beth nickel and diming content now.

That's what I *thought* we were gonna get.  They decided to call it Hearthfire.  What's the purpose of this?  It's the name of a Month on the Calander....  but what's that have to do with home building?

And didn't Todd Howard say that the DLC for Skyrim would be  "more substantial" than the Oblivion stuff?  They delivered with Dawnguard, no question.  But Hearthfire does not fit the definition of "more substantial".    In fact, it's no different than all the other stuff we got for Free this year in the Patches  (Mounted Combat, hi res textures etc)

I'm buying this DLC though, but I'm going to view the $5 as a donation to a company that kept me thoroughly entertained for the past 10 months, not as a purchase.

Maybe this is for console gamers and not PC gamers.
Like...well 90% of comments I have read all over seem to feel.

Then again I am more worrying about Xcom:EU then Hearthfire.

At least the next DLC won't be under contract and it'll probably be epic. Could be a Beth tatic.

What makes you think the  next DLC won't be under the Microsoft contract?

Only the first two DLCs are under contract. I believe.

I'll take your word for it, but as I've not had the opportunity to personally view this contract with an attorney to confirm, my gut is telling me that this is wishful thinking. Company decision makers at that altitude don't do business on the semantics level. If the contract says: "exclusivity for the first 2 DLCs," it probably means,  at least the first two major DLCs, not "Only the first two addons of any type that you decide to charge people for".

Not that it matters. The whole exclusivity thing is nothing more than a gimmick. The month-long wait for Dawnguard wasn't painful for me at all, so no big deal if I have to wait an extra month for the next Dawnguard-level content release.
