I'll take your word for it, but as I've not had the opportunity to personally view this contract with an attorney to confirm, my gut is telling me that this is wishful thinking. Company decision makers at that altitude don't do business on the semantics level. If the contract says: "exclusivity for the first 2 DLCs," it probably means,  at least the first two major DLCs, not "Only the first two addons of any type that you decide to charge people for".

Not that it matters. The whole exclusivity thing is nothing more than a gimmick. The month-long wait for Dawnguard wasn't painful for me at all, so no big deal if I have to wait an extra month for the next Dawnguard-level content release.

Yeah, I'm just getting this info form the Bethesda forum as they seem to make it common knowledge there. Don't know what their source is but I'd believe them. The only question is if Hearthfire will be considered an add-on or DLC. Especially since it's so small.

Yeah, checking out the Hearthfire video on XBOX Live, it's exactly what I thought it was. It's an add-on (at least everything they showed in the video) that completely revolves around constructing a house and crafting any item you might want for it. It's basically a mod (billed as an add-on) for console users; but a mod, of course, you have to pay for. I predict high sales.

I knew I heard Todd Howard talking about bringing mods to consoles...and basically doing it the best way they could manage.

We'll see if Hearthfire is worth the price of admission - $5 is pretty cheap by most DLC standards, but that of course means the amount of content in it is quite small compared to Dawnguard which was pretty much an expansion. Hopefully what it offers will be nifty enough that I feel like I got my money's worth.

Seeing as Dawnguard was not worth 20$ at all imo(still enjoyed it alot but 20$? just no), I shutter to think what content this new dlc will have.

I haven't finished Dawnguard yet, but I'd say it's worth it for the lore that it added alone.  That's why I would be all for something like Hearthfire if it was part of a larger story DLC, like the reshape your face bit in Dawnguard.

Someone brought up a good point on the Bethesda boards. If you watch the video, you'll see that one of the selling points is that you're gonna have to defend your house from Skeever infestations, Bandit and Giant attacks, etc. This sounds good in a commercial, but...it sets off a red flag for anyone who's played Dawnguard. Expect to constantly defend your home from enemies.... every night.

I got the make your own house mod.
A shame it causes my game to CTD faster then a pop starlet crashes their career.

Honestly though its five dollars for a **** ton of freedom and content.
Better then the crap coming out for ME3 which gives you a couple of guns.

Honestly I think that Bethesda should do more of these, and bring mods to the consoles.
Sadly Satansoft and Bill Hates wont let the PS3 get them, or the Xbox to get them cheap.

lol I hope not.

Maybe after you kill the Skeever king they'll go away lulz.

It'd be awesome if you could adopt Aventus - he has no one to look after him and never returns to Honorhall AFAIK. It'd also be cool to be able to adopt some of the tots from Honorhall, now that I think about it.

lmao I joked about that last night

I said watch it'll be like this.

Aventius: WOW ITS THE ASSASSIN FROM THE DARK BROTHERHOOD! Thanks for killing Grindle!

Dova: How would you like to be an assassin....son?

Aventius: Oh boy would I!

^ I still say that Aventus Aretino would be doing the Black Sacrament at some point...once enlisted in the Dark Brotherhood, he'd figure out how to manipulate the Listener (via the Night Mother) to do his bidding. Image IPB

What I'm wondering is if you adopt them from Riften, I mean in the Vid it showed the kids outside and on a rather nice looking bench. So I'm wondering if it'll be a new location or if you can just stea.....err adopt any kid.

So let me get this straight. You want to kidnap...err...recruit a bunch of kids, to start up your own chapter? Is this some sort of Little Lamplight meets Skyrim sort of thing? Image IPB

If kids start calling adults "Mungo", I'm out. Heh.

I'm thinking Falkreath is probably the Hold I'll build my house in - it's the only place that lacks any kind of useful facilities as Falkreath is barely a town and the rest of the Hold is forested. It's also one of the prettier areas of Skyrim along with The Reach and The Rift.

Speaking of which, The Rift would also be a nice place to settle, would that the area didn't have a cockroach-level infestation of wildlife and Riften didn't already have a house available for purchase. Too bad.

Pft why else have lots of kids if not to build an army or system of lords to run the regions you take over?

The Rift would be my first choice, followed by the Reach, but it would depend on what is actually available, I guess. If there was something by water (ocean or lake-front), that would be pretty cool.

You're right about Falkreath, though. There's not much else there, so it would be a nice waypoint.

With any of them, like Yrkoon said, it will be interesting to figure out how best to defend it against vampires, in addition to traditional fare.

@Bear - You do have a point, sir. Image IPB

My orc would use those kids as an extra source of income, then go to the inns and buy boat load of mead.go back home and if just one of those kids dropped a box of the brew theyd all get a beating and the two weakest would get  sold into "labor reform".while the rest become skilled in combat

Child abuse ftw.

What they are immortal, a few punches won't kill them....the wife however...

Anyways I heard a rumor spears might be in this DLC. Not holding my breath though, maybe in the NEXT dlc.

EDIT on a side note, I hope flials and a few other things will make a come back, maybe get a few skill tree's to raise the cap to 100

Yeah, compared to Dawnguard's surpries, I hope this one as at least that much. Spears, seasonal foliage and elf children would be awesome.

I dont think the Dragonborn would make a really good parent.

Think about it.
You are hardly home, your family would be targeted by many different groups, plus...they may not be a nice person.

Besides my main Dragonborn is in his fifties so yeah no dice.
My Breton may do that since she is kind of that person though.

My Khajiit will so do that though, he needs some recruits for the Dark Brotherhood after all.

Once I get to adopting children, their adoptive parents will be the Dovahkiin, master of all four guilds, some nice and some not so nice, and Aela the Huntress. Also, both are werewolves.

Good luck, chumps.

Lol, I'm already feeling very sorry for the children in many people's games.

It would be fun if the DLC added children of other races as well, although that's probably too much to hope for. Imagine a little Khajiit!

@Giggles i know right thats what would make them such a fantastic parent
plus it would be cute to see Dovah dress up as an easter bunny/santa for the season greetings.
.....

i used the glitch of Oghma infintum for my level 52 to hit 81 and yo so greasy.everything just dies with a breath of dragon wind.

now im rocking a legit Level 15 Breton:Female-Duel weilding swords, conjuration and illusion
bout three quest into getting the dearida artifacts.then im ganna grind and eventually either pick Brotherhood or companions not sure yet.

My Cutlass Jack (Breton swashbuckler) character is in the Dawnguard, and has been gathering schematics for Sorine. My original plan was for him to dual wield swords or scimtars, and use Illusion and Conjuration, but dang, I'd forgotten how wimpy things are when you're just starting out. I've been focusing more on Archery and Sneak than anything else, so those are doing great. The other stuff? Not so much. My Smithing is at a paltry 23, for example.

It's funny though; my husband told me last night that this is his least favorite character. Why, I asked. He said it's because he didn't want to touch his ears. I guess he misses my Khajiit.

Just installed the following mod for more... uh... "realisitic" effects of magic on my enemies

skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14692

The question is: Will it enhance my Skyrim experience, or will the burned corpses of my enemies haunt my dreams? PTSD from playing my mage

I'm also thinking about the "realistic ragdoll mod"

skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/601

I'm tired of all those bouncing corpses. On the other hand it will ruin my entertainment when I watch my daily bandits vs. giants fight.
