No, but maybe the next DLC will let you. It'll be called Hearthfire 2, and will feature buildable Igloos that you can place up north by the College.

I just want a reason to go to Winterhold, after the College and the Black Star quest, there's no point in ever going back there. If there's no place to buy a home in Winterhold I think I might just find a mod that does that. I really don't mind this DLC, I have no problem with it at all but getting only 3 places to build takes away the excitement, sure the locations they put aren't bad, Morthal, Falkreath and Dawnstar aren't that bad but I still want Winterhold.

Im guessing its the adoption system which is why so many people are reacting weirdly to Hearthfire.

I mean Oblivion had four DLCs (Fighter's Stronghold, Thieves Den, Wizard's Tower & The Vile Lair) which were all customize your own home so this isn't a new concept by any means.

I don't get why it's so important to have more houses. At least for an official DLC. This isn't The Sims.

Or maybe I missed the memo.

It just strikes me that we were speculating what the new DLC was supposed to be about and I remember reading some nice suggestions. All of them better than this.

Okay I get that certain people are not happy about Hearthfire.

But the personal attacks? Not so nice
"Bethdrone" or "Fanboy" being some of the nicer comments I got.

Sheesh its five dollars people, what is with all the vitriol?

Eh I guess fans can never really be happy.

I disagree with you about the DLC, but also see no need for personal attacks. I don't know what it is, some people just get upset over nothing.

I can only hope that since this is a cheap DLC, we'll get something more meaningful at some point.

Perhaps, but after rewatching the trailer it seems that added carriages may be included, so maybe even more features from the brainstorming workshop may also be in there. I dislike the Sims type of gaming, but do like the idea of having a home with the features I want, and skip the excess I do not need.

I couldn't care less. I wasn't expecting ANY DLC 2 months after Dawnguard release. I'm hoping for an expansion by December though.

That's funny, the ONE hold where no home is available, that's where you want to live.  No worries tho, I'm pretty sure the DLC will be modded so that you can place a Hearthfire house anywhere.

You know we did not know anything about the Aetherium Wars quest or the Paragon quests in Dawnguard.

Who knows what is in Hearthfire.

I can see why necromancers are eager to strike deals with the Ideal Masters - Wrathmen do make powerful allies, perhaps even more so than Dremora Lords (all of the Soul Cairn summons benefit from the Necromancy and Dark Souls perks), not to mention the Dragonbone weapons which are superior to Daedric.

Too bad the Dragonborn can't strike a deal with them. I think they would find it interesting to encounter a dovahkiin.

greengoron89 wrote...

In the Soul Cairn exist three shrines - on each one is a spell time: Conjure Boneman, Conjure Mistman, and Conjure Wrathmen. Bonemen and Mistman are decent summons for lower levels, but Wrathmen are pretty uber and at least as good as Dremora Lords.

Next time you find yourself in the Soul Cairn, at least try to get Conjure Wrathman - it should be slightly west of the Reaper's Lair.

I know this was directed at someone slse, but I never knew that. This sounds interesting. If Dawnguard comes to the PS3, I'll check it out.

Percisely. The Snow Elf was a HUGE additon (at least to long-time fans) to Dawnguard that there wasn't even a tiny hint of. I'm excited about what hidden content Hearthfire has to offer.

I wouldn't mind that but I've been hearing that the area in which you can buy land doesn't have much snow, people say its north of the Loreius farm or something.

Pfft, that's no house, I think I'd rather live in the ratway. I'm buying the DLC anyways, regardless of Winterhold or not, Morthal doesn't sound so bad, having a big house in the middle of a marsh would be cool, reminds me of that big mansion in DA: O Awakening, and besides like you said, someone will probably come up with a mod to make houses wherever I please.

LOL  Or your kid will turn out to be a daedric prince in disguise.  They'll unzip their skin like a Scooby Doo ending and Sheogorath will pop out saying "DADDY!"

Has anyone downloaded Hearthfire? Xbox Live appears to be having problems signing people in.

And now, 2 minutes later, I can sign in again. Wonderful timing by me.

^ I have to wait until I get home from work to start downloading Hearthfire. Eight more hours.

In Riverwood i found Gerdur's body on the street with no dragons present. With google search i discovered that fast traveling to the town would activate a glitch in which she would be afflicted by frenzy, and kill Hod. I can assume that she was killed by the guards or Faendal, but i'm going to try to replicate it so i can watch the tragedy unfold. With some roleplaying i'll imagine that Gerdur discovered Hod's, and Ralof"s steamy affair.(uses brain bleach)

I started up a new Orc run (her name is Ura) over the weekend, and upon arriving in Riverwood, right after Helgen, was shocked at what I was greeted by... Sven was crouched over Faendal's dead body. What the...? In 16 playthroughs, I've never had that happen. It honestly looked to me like he'd just stabbed him, and walked away, all nonchalant. I told my husband about it, and he laughed - I always use Faendal as a first follower, and he hates him.

I also finished up the Dawnguard Vampire Lord main quest line in my Khajiit mage playthrough. So...the end seemed kind of abrupt. I'm curious if there's more that's going to happen in it after killing, well you know, or if it's just done?

It is, just go in and then out of the New releases on new DLC, or look in the game directory its at the very end. I've been playing a couple of hours now. Have to say at first its a pain to get everything like you need. Ah well adds new kids a few other things, lots of new food items. Not sure on if you can marry more folks or not. Bethseda should really post up a read me on the forums.

Also you can only adopt two kids.

If you have a house and get the kids bedroom ad on, then yes. And some of the new kids have had bad things to happen to them like theres a girl begging for money in whiterun now, as her folks died and her Aunt and Uncle took over the farm and tossed her out, plus the new girl in Solitude has a rather sad story.
