I was saddened when I heard that you can't recruit any of the named bards you meet in skyrim's taverns. They totally dropped the ball on that one. Lisette has no business playing at the Winking Skeever in Solitude when she could be playing at my house instead.

^ Lisette really is the best-looking bard, imho. I wouldn't mind her being at my house, either.

I can't really answer in regard to spouse AI, as the family was just barely moved in right before I started having crashes. You have the option to ask your spouse how your child(ren) is doing, and he/she will answer. They'll also tell you if there's an infestation ("I heard sounds coming from the basement"). Mostly my husband just crabbed at me...err, my Dragonborn.

You actually have more dialogue with the child than your spouse, (at least so far in my game). You can give them gifts, or tell them to go to bed, or play games with them. There may be more, too, but it was 1 a.m. when I popped back home, so they were in sleep mode.

If you have a chest or dresser in the kids room, your kid(s) will come with their own "pretty things" that they'll say you can take if you want. Mostly it was a bow, some saber cat teeth, etc.

@Crash - Well, I used the individual planters for the canis root, then added deathbell and imp stool to the big ones. I planted glowing mushroom, wheat, snowberries, and some other miscellaneous stuff outside, but I'm sure you could creepify that stuff however you'd like.

Are all of these additions you folks are discussing from the expansion? Mods? I've recently begun dabbling with my Skyrim again and building your own homes seems quite interesting.

Also Bethesda weaseling out of their deal with Satansoft.

They had a 30 day exclusivity deal going for two big DLCs.
So Hearthfire was done to both get a popular mod to the console gamers, and do get out of that deal.

^How do you know that? I've heard someone else claim that, but have yet to see a source confirming that.

What about Spouse AI. Is it the same as it is in the vanilla homes? (ie. Use cooking pot. then walk to the nearest chair and eat bread, then walk to the alchemy table and pretend to work, then walk back to the chair etc.) Or do they actually walk around to the house's other wings and do gardening and stuff?

And do they chat with the kids?

My spouse's schedule - sleep until noon, go outside and stare at rocks for several hours, go back inside, look menacingly at steward, go back to bed.

Haven't seen him interact with the kids/house to any extent. To be honest, I don't think I've seen them in the same room.

It was leaked stuff on the Bethsoft forums that got spread around.

Might be wrong, but who knows.

Who is your husband?

That's kind of disappointing, but not surprising, really. I mean...there's not much to marriage in Skyrim, so we might be setting our expectations a little high by thinking our shallow spouses might interact with our shallow children.

I'm just waiting for my husband to make a comment about the house being small. He might just find himself out in the yard, feeding the glowing mushrooms, if he keeps that up. He's kind of a turd, really. (Sorex Vinius).

If that's true, Todd Howard moves further towards his sainthood.

I think it's probably not true.

If its true, my opinion of them goes up at least one notch. Was a smart move to make the second DLC the one PC gamers would care the least about.

Morthal? Even my vampire wouldn't build a house there. I think the landscape in Oblivion was more scenic...

:lol::lol::lol:

I was reading that and was genuinely convinced for a minute that the pair of you had gone off on some random man bashing off-topic tangent.

This has probably been asked already, but are the home invasions overly annoying? How do they work? Only when you're there(if so is it every single visit?) or do you get word when you're like halfway across the country?(again, how often?)

The location in Falkreath is nice, with all the trees, and it overlooks the lake (well, sort of), but I was hoping for The Rift or The Reach. Oh well, it's a change of pace...well, it's a lot of running around, mostly.

@Druss - I probably should have also included the previous quote. Posted Image

Like with Dawnguard, it seems to only happen when you're actually at the house. Maybe someone who's played it longer than me could answer that better?

My first encounter with enemies outside was insane. It was like a group of misfits all showed up at once to fight us, as it was one thing right after the other. There weren't enemies every time I traveled back and forth there, luckily. The skeevers in the cellar were mentioned by my husband upon entering the house.

The giant encounter was the strangest. I'd fast traveled back to the house. You could feel heavy footsteps like a giant, then a dragon showed up and fought it. After the dragon was dead, the giant wasn't hostile. I wasn't sure whether to fight him, or leave him alone, so I let him be for a while. He's still outside the house, actually. Debating how to handle the situation. Heh.

If your husband can't deal with skeevers in the basement, me thinks you married the wrong guy :wizard:

Onmund the apprentice, chosen because he sounds like a cheery, friendly Craig Boone.

I think that's a valid reason.

I'm waiting until all of the details on Hearthfire are dished out before I boot Skyrim back up to play it - I want to know who's who, what's what, and what all changes it makes to the game.

I'd really love a list of all the NPCs who can become Stewards, and also if any new marriage options besides Rayya are available.

Well Oblivion did have all those house mods too, at least you get some more freedom building them this time.

Hopefully we get something cool for the next DLC.
Like a Thalmor catapult minigame.

Oh, is Hearthfire out already? Huh, that was fast. It seems people are having fun with it, except for the bugs. I assume there are no Khajiti children now? That would come closest to getting a cat in skyrim. :P

You know...after today reading that whole "EA HATES SP GAMES" ...thank god for Bethesda.
Dont get me wrong, they still do stupid things, and are not perfect.

At least they are far more sane with their games then EA.
Except on the PS3.

But hey Sony locks content from people often too.

Yeah, I read that there too. I've yet to see anyone disagree with it, mods included, so it might very well be ture.

Ya think? Posted Image Sorex Vinius is a turd. I should have known better, since it's Mercer Frey's VA and all. I learned the first time I asked him for a homecooked meal that he was a peach, "I think you should be cooking for me..." or something to that effect. He's lucky to be alive. I'm a little worried that he's going to drink the blood of our adopted children, though, since I made him a vampire and all.

OK, not that worried. I'm betting Runa can take care of herself.

No kitty kids, sadly. My Khajiit mage is a little broken up about it. There's no way anyone would believe she's the mother of a little blonde Nord kid.
