Mercer Frey's/ Belethor's VA did Garrett in the Thief games, which I'm playing right now, so I'm torn by thinking he's sexy cool and then hearing the voice in my head saying do come baaack.

Speaking of voice actors, I just started playing Dungeon Siege 3 last night (I know, I know), and could have sworn I heard Brynjolf's voice. In the midst of an otherwise mediocre game, I got to hear...I mean swoon...Brynjolf.

Gideon Emery also did some voice work in it. They get around.

Yeah Brynjolf's VA has been in every game ever made, I think. He plays the dufus deputy you rescue in Primm in FNV, for instance. He was a boss enemy in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, with a fake German accent.

Yeah, you're right about that. I scrolled through the list of stuff he's done, and came to that same conclusion, myself. What hasn't he been in, is definitely the better question.

Oh, is Hearthfire out already? Huh, that was fast. It seems people are having fun with it, except for the bugs. I assume there are no Khajiti children now? That would come closest to getting a cat in skyrim. :P

Oh I like the marsh.  It's very alive and it's got creepy sounds, especially at night.  Reminds me of the Leyawiin area in Oblivion, where my Dunmer assassin was based.

Is Brynjolf's VA actually Scottish IRL? Because his accent is absolutely spot on in Skyrim, and I'd be stunned if he was not.

I still am grumpy there was no option to turn on the Thieves Guild.

Honestly you could turn on the DB so why not the Thieves?
Ah well such is for head canon I guess.

I think it would be cool to have a house in the area sort of near the Eldergleam Sanctuary in Eastmarch (the Aalto), but there's an awful lot of wildlife around there. The hot springs would suffice as a hot tub, however. Heh.

And if you're a vampire lord, you should get to have a death hound for a watchdog. Yeeeah.

Ok im trying to finish off my Shrine in the cellar.  Anyone know where there is an Amulet of Akatosh and an Amulet of Kynareth lying around?   I dont really want to rely on random loot when im this close! :P

Anyway this house is huge!!!   Why do we have three plots of land to buy?  Its going to take me forever to fill just one!   Good job I have Arvak at my fingertips. Moving house is hard work.  Especially when making a trip with 4000 pounds of equipment over-encumbering you.

Good Arvak :innocent:

Or in a house?
Or an a boat?
On a plane?

Why am I talking like Doctor Suess

Not sure if posted yet, but here's a stunning Dawnguard movie.  14 minute playtime.

EDIT: Really like the scene at about 3:00 with the Companions.

Yeah, Dawnguard Extended Cut DLC, additional cinematics for those fans that wanted clarification and closure

The companion section was my favorite part as well.  Gonna watch the Seige of Markarth.

EDIT: Awesome!

Is there any chance for a mod that does that creates that battle. at least between vampires and humans.

I know it's possible. If you've ever played 'Battlefields of Skyrim' or other similar combat mods (Stormcloaks vs. Imperials War), the mod developers are able to put an insane amount of soldiers on the battlefield.  BoS also proves that it's possible to many soldiers on the field with differing (magic, etc) abilities, like 30 or 40 bad guy mages spamming any variety of destruction spells at you. All that's required is to swap out mages for vampires with appropriate abilities. These type mods are not limited by the Skyrim map either, because S vs I W takes place within Skyrim proper, while Battlefields teleports you to a combat island outside of the vanilla Skyrim map.

You're rig (system dependent) may lag a bit, but I've played Battlefields, and can tell you that not only it is most certainly possible, it's insanely fun.

I know about "Warzones-Civil Unrest" which is one of those mods which puts a lot of NPCs fighting each other.

Hey, just getting into this game but I've no idea which race to play. Spent a couple days reading up on the web about each one but still indecisive.

Which race are your "main" characters (if you have one) and why?

As a general rule:

* Warriors - Orcs are the pick for me; brutal with a terrific battle ability. Nord is also a decent option.
* Mages - prefer Bretons for Resist Magic, but Dunmer and High Elves are also good choices.
* Rogues - Khajitt was quite fun, and the claw bonus is equal to a Dragonbone sword; great for the lower lvls.

All that said, the classes flow into one another easily, so there really is no best choice, I believe. I am not keen on Imperials, Argonians, or Wood Elves, but Redguards are OK; simply prefer above picks first.

Well, Altmer make excellent spellcasters. +50 Magicka is a pretty big deal. It either lets you cast significantly more then other races or focus on health for a nice boost of survivability, while maintaining superior casting abilities. Other races start with 300 point pools in Health, Stamina and Magicka (together), Altmer have 350. And the Highborn special power is also very usefull, in particular before you can get major spell cost reducing gear (or refuse to wear it all, because it breaks the game). Even though it's once per day, 1 minute of constant spell spam can turn the tide of a difficult battle into an easy one. And you don't encounter "Lieutanent" levelled enemies that often anyway.

The Altmer make even better Illusionists, as they can get Apprentice Illusion on their first level-up (and use Calm and Muffle spell at half cost). And Illusion is a lot of fun and very powerfull in this game... in particular if you combine it with Sneak. Calm is just godly for landing backstabs on the enemies who suddenly consider you a friend...

Of course, if you prefer to get nice and personal, nothing can beat the brute force and sheer awesomeness of an Orc!

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot about the Bretons. Their permanent 25% Magic Resistance (+ temporary 50% Spell Absorption) makes them the Uber Race. Best race for pretty much any role really, since defending against magical damage  sources
(this includes dragonfire and lots of other stuff) will give you the most trouble
throughout the game (but you CAN sucessfully become almost impervious to magic with other races as well, just requires more effort).
I consider them less interesting though and I don't have any Breton characters (I do have an Orc, Altmer and Dunmer).
The races with permanent resistances to specific element make decent secondary choices too. Nords for warriors, Dunmer for Spellblades or Assasins.

My three favorite playthroughs are (in no particular order):

Khajiit (Mage)
Orc (Warrior)
Breton (Battlemage)

Khajiit are just awesome. I knew I was in love with them when I used the Unrelenting Force shout for the first time, and it sounded like my character was shouting "POOF!" instead of "FUS". That, and when you're tasting different ingredients for Alchemy, it sounds like a whole lot of sneezing. Everything about them is too cute for words. I thought I'd mix things up with my second Khajiit, by doing the somewhat unexpected, and making her a mage. (She just wanted to put J'Zargo in his place).

Orcs are the powerhouse race of the entire game. If you use their Berzerk ability, they're probably a bit overpowered. I never thought in a million years that I'd make, or even like one, but I do. They just have a certain something-something to them. And they kick arse to boot. I have three Orcs, to date.

My first playthrough of Skyrim, and highest-level character is a Breton. The magic resistance is nice to have; it will come in handy. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is that they're so short. But...that presents an opportunity for stealth, yes?

My advice? Make one of each race. Then make another. And another, and play liberally. I need to update my album, but I'm up to 16 characters.

Each race is awesome. You just have to tap into their potential. Posted Image

Hmm makes me wonder if the NPC's have differing persona's like with the troubles HD is having with her hubby, Sylgja who I married on my play seems to get along fine with and even speaks to the kids often. pratically every time I go home they talk about having went to the market or making a cake, and at times when the kids go to bed I've seen Sylgja sitting on the foot of one of the kids beds just drinking and watching over them before she goes to bed.

Its funny how it adds to the game in a manner, makes the world more alive.

More stuff about Hearthfire:

We had talked in this thread about being able to use a follower as a house steward. This does not seem to work, as I didn't get new dialogue with anyone I tried. I did, however, get 2 of the 3 new housecarls put in place last night (Rayya in Lakeview Manor, and Vladimar in Winstad Manor). I just need to wrap up one more favor for Dawnstar, and I'll be able to get Gregor for Heljarchen Hall.

Holy cow, the houses in Falkreath and Morthal are BUGGY. I had hoped to avoid the lock-ups by not packing my second house (Morthal) with decorations. That doesn't make a lick of difference, sadly.

So, I started building Heljarchen Hall. It's located near a giant camp, North of the Loreius Farm. The house is almost done; all I have left to furnish is the basement, which is about halfway done. So far, so good, and no lock-ups yet (knock on wood). With that being my third house, I got the Land Baron (and maybe Master Architect? Can't remember.) achievements. Heh.

So...kids.

I adopted Runa, and really like her. She's helpful and sweet, and likes to spend time laying on the floor in her bedroom, reading. Her I'm fine with.

But then I adopted Blaise. He's the one helping out at Katla's Farm. I should have seen the red flags by what he said when I met him. That kid is a turd, and complains constantly. Oh, and he picks on Runa. He got sent to his room for that.

I used Aura Whisper to find them outside (they're hard to find, sometimes), and Blaise asked me if I could make him invisible. That was the first cute thing he's said.

What? Aww, man, I'm really getting skunked with Sorex Vinius. Maybe I'll start this whole process over with one of my other characters. You know I will do it! Posted Image
