^ That's what I have, too. I doubt you'll need to be quite that diligent (saves every other minute), but it's not a bad idea to do them at least periodically. I've been caught on that one myself at times...like in one outside location in Dawnguard. There were no recent area transitions, so no autosaves, and I got smooshed by a giant. Had to start the whole area over.

And more recently, in Swindler's Den. I've been in there several times before, but in this one particular playthrough, wasn't prepared, and got overwhelmed. Before I went back in, I bought Summon Dremora Lord. That solved all of my problems. Heh.

That's actually a tough little dungeon.  Those high-level archers make that narrow hallway quite tricky.

Dremora Lord summon + you: "We're just a couple of problem solvers."

Works wonders on Falmer dungeons. I hate those chaurus *shudder* and am more than happy to let the dremora deal with them.

Yep, that's right where I died. I had Serana with me, and I got stuck on one of her bandits, and took a few too many arrows to the face. I guess they were serious about making my Khajiit a rug!

Dremora Lord is so.much.win!

Archers are a pain. My characters always go into sneak mode and try to take them out with bows while they're unaware.

Failing that I summon a Dremora and let it go in first to draw fire away. Then I release a barrage of fireballs on anything that moves.

I didn't realize that Ice Form causes continuous frost damage while it lasts.  I usually only use it on deathlords and the like so probably didn't notice, but accidentally hit a thu'um button and froze a bunch of vampires.  Most of them were dead just from the shout.  These weren't the Dawnguard vampires, just the normal ones from Mara's Eye Pond dungeon.

Kind of breaking current conversation, but my game keeps ****ing freezing my 360. I installed to HDD, keep no more than six total saves, including auto-saves, and just got Dawnguard and Hearthfire. There is a particular point on the road between the Goldun Rock Giant Camp and Whiterun where it is guaranteed to freeze. I figure I can simply fast travel past it, but does anybody know why this happens? It also happened two or three times in the mounains south of Winterhold, when I was trying to get to the Shrine of Azura. I'm guessing some kind of error occurs when trying to load a certain random encounter, or something...

I know of that Giant's camp and the issue's there. I had the same problems when I was playing Dawnguard, the game would often slow way down and stutter or just freeze up completely when on the road near it. It's the giant camp with the very small cave at the back of it? I froze there a couple of times myself. Unfortunately I have no advice though, my Xbox died a couple of days after it started happening but it was an old elite model and mysteriously fixed itself again three days later. I've been mostly ok since I switched to a slim, since it's out in the open it's very hard to pinpoint whats causing the problem. You could try avoiding the area until you've completed DG.

Its still rather weird how Dawnguard made ALL the vampires because Dawnguard vampires.

I dont run into the vanilla ones anymore.
I honestly wonder if anyone even knows about how close Tamriel came to being royally screwed over?

If you encounter a couple of archers, it's not bad, but I'd swear there are more if you go into Swindler's Den at a higher level (I was at 49 on that one).

I hadn't thought of using Ice Form on them. The only time I've actually used that was on the giant attacking Largashbur (The Cursed Tribe). He was only down momentarily, so I gave up on it, and haven't really used it again since.

Marked for Death is more my speed. I fought a Blood Dragon last night with my Orc, used Marked for Death once, and was able to kill it in one swing of my Daedric Battleaxe (with an Absorb Stamina enchantment). And that right there is my I love my Orc.

I haven't set her on the Dawnguard path yet, so I don't have any of the new shouts on that playthrough. Just pure badassery.

They didn't just replace all the old vampires with the Dawnguard version. I swear that some places that didn't have vampires before now do.

I've run into them in a few caves that used to have nothing stronger than ordinary bandits.

So, what path do you folks take in Dawnguard? Vampire or Dawnguard one?

I've tried both and feel like the later works a bit better for the story. But Vampire Lord form is sooo cool.

I cleared a dungeon close to Solitude that had normal vampires.

*SPOILER*

For a fun time, use Clear Skies at the bridge Castle V in a final daytime DG assault, and use the Not So Shiny artifact bow.

LOL, of course.

I think we should have a National Talk Like a Dremora day.  Enter a room and say "I SMELL WEAKNESS."  Your boss gives you guff and you say 'YOU ARE WEAK, MORTAL."

I love the little lip flub they do when they get hit.

Ah, Wes Johnson. I'm so glad they brought him back for TESV. They should have stuck in a "criminal scum" line somewhere.

I think I came upon the only way to deal with Maven:
Just dont do the TG, destroy the DB, then just do nice things in Riften.

Sure she still is around, but all she is, is a weak crime boss in one city.
With the DB or TG going she is just a joke.

Especially if you send Sibbi off on a wild goose chase.

Seriously though its like Ward level BS about how you cant do anything with her.

That's pretty much how I handle Riften with my Tribunal mage, except I transform Sibbi with the Wabbajack into a pile of coins, since he seems to be the heir to Maven's little empire (although whether he's her son or her grandson seems to be a matter of debate, given the conflicting dialogue lines). No heir, no future for the Black-Briar empire.
