I just got Skyrim for the PC (previously owned it on the Xbox360). Any tips for awesome mods from the PC gamers here? Before you make any suggestions, I want you to know that I'm only interested in mods that keep the original aesthetics and gameplay balance of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim in tact. No MLP mods, no crazy space-ships or overpowered weapons. I only want mods that improve the original look and feel of Skyrim, or add some lore-friendly and gameplay-friendly armors, weapons or locations.
Any suggestions?
Also, another question: Is it possible to convert my Xbox360 save game to a PC save game, so I can continue with my main character?
I too was a PC convert after 400-500 hours in Skyrim on 360.
I know you've received alot of mod recommendations; here's a few that I really like that are lore friendly and not overpowered. Most are available on Steam Workshop, and all should be available through Nexus. If you want the link, just let me know what you're interested in, if any. Otherwise just keyword these. Titles are exact.
Nordic Steel Plate Shield Mod - Allows you to craft Ysgramor's Shield...so your companion(s) can have too. Buffs it slightly as well.
Weapon Variant Expansion - Dramatically expands choice and variation of vanilla weapons. One of my favorite mods.
Bandolier – Bags and Pouches - craftable bandoleers and pouches to add to ensemble. Gives you a carry weight bonus for the effort. I personally think these look fantastic.
Skyforge Steel Plate Armor - Because I love steel armor and wanted the stats raised to the equivalent of something like ebony.
Craftable Blades Armor and Sword with Perk Fix - Craftable Blades armor with a stat boost comparable to ebony. Nothing wrong with that, especially if you're like me and like the looks of Blades armor but deplore it's anemic stats.
Open Face Helmets Compilation (Replacer) - I still like to see my character's face, even if he's isn't Casanova's twin.
UFO – Ultimate Follower Overhaul - Fixes follower issues to a certain extent, and allows you to hire on up to 15 followers (I know, a bit ridiculous, right?). It does allow you to carry around a couple of you're favortie followers, or modded in followers, as opposed to having to choose between them. Only available on Nexus last time I checked (which has been awhile).
Battlefields of Skyrim - A straight up hardcore combat mod if you were even remotely interested in such. You will take a beating on this one, but you can level skills fairly quickly. It's not a cheat mod, you'll earn your XP.
More NPCs in the Wild - Makes what would otherwise be a boring stroll through the country side a bit more exciting. Merely adds more NPC encounters as you travel about. Not all combat; sometimes just hunters hunting or Thalmor travelling (and you decide whether to attack or not).
Dovahkiin Relaxes Too - Adds idle animations during downtime. Your Dova will read a book, warm his/her fhands by the fire, sweep the floor, drink, eat, etc., if you command relax. A great immersion mod.
Dovahkiin Hideout - Adds a basement to any house you purchase in-game...a very well-appointed basement. Gives you access, via doors, to any and all homes you've purchased. One of the first mods I added on, and have used it ever since.
Well, congrats on getting Skyrim on PC. You are going to love it. Skyrim was fantastic on the 360. It just goes to a whole new level on PC.
