Yeah the game looks pretty sweet. I do notice however that the distant landscape looks pretty low-res and shitty. I never noticed it before on the Xbox360 because the Xbox360 only renders this game at 720p. But on 2560x1440 you can easily see how low-quality the distant landscape really is.

Are there some mods that might clear up the distant landscape and make it look a bit less crappy?

Unless your dovakiin has robotic eyes, you shouldn't be able to see things in ultra high texture HD way way off in the distance.

That said, There's a slider in the settings to help your game better render stuff that's way out on the horizon....  Draw distance, or some such.  But upping it to the max setting will, of course, make you take a performance hit.

Even with the LOD and draw distance sliders fully open the distant landschapes still look like sh*t.

The textures aren't just blurry, they're messy.

Any mod to improve this without taking a big hit on my preformance?

It looks fine to me, but there is a mod.  I honestly didn't see any difference using it, though.

I obviously dont have an eye for that kind of thing.  I barely see any difference between vanilla, enhanced and enhanced HD.

I kinda regret taking on Destruction magic as a skill. It's slow as sludge to train and horribly underpowered. I expect Incinerate to, umm... incinerate my opponents, not take a sliver of their health away. I can take three to four times as much health away with a sneak attack from my crossbow, even more if I coat it with a good poison.

This is exactly what I found as well. You're better off with almost any other magic school. Conjuration in particular has all the power Destruction lacks... and more.

I can't imagine specializing in Destruction without the mod to rebalance it. I forgot what it's called, but there's a mod that gives it a much needed overhaul.

Ah damn.

Someone posted info on the DLC but the thread got deleted.
I did not copy paste but I did see what it said.

Apparently it really WILL have Hermaeus Mora since they found lines that actually said his name.
It must be really important then to the DLC.

Makes sense. The last thing he tells you in Vanilla Skyrim is "let us work wonders together".

Well? Unless Hermaeus Mora's idea of "working wonders together" is: "Hey man, please read a few pages of my Ogma Infinitium, thanxbye", I'd say we've got some unfinished business with Mr. Mora.

And I can think of very few things as wonderous as revisiting Solstheim.

I'm really getting sick of how bethseda won't tell us crap till the last momment. I t would be nice if a couple weeks to release, or when the stuff leaked if they would give us an overview. Its not a game but DLC. And if the rumored price is correct I likely won't be buying it anytime soon if its $30-40 bucks.

Yeah, they seem to be doing that alot lately, which is odd, since they did the exact opposite for Skyrim itself - almost an entire year of rather detailed promotion and hype. We knew the exact release date 11 months beforehand.

If anyway, they should be really hyping up their DLC at this point, since many millions of people have probably shifted their attention away from Skyrim by now, as most gamers usually do a year after first playing a game.

Yeah you'ld think they'ld be going

"HEY LOOK GUYS WE GOT THIS FANTASTIC DLC COMMING WITH AN OLD AREA AND SOME NEW WEAPONS!"

Not...

"Okay you talk about this again till we are ready to sell it, then you're getting banned"

I mean I'm hopping no changes have happend at Bethseda and they take this tone with future titles, if they do I can move on to another company I'm sure.

They may be wanting to reveal it at the VGA's, though I am hoping they'll announce Fallout 4 there. *please gaming gods let it be so*

I was hoping at least part of northwestern Morrowind would be accessible in the game, particularly the city of Blacklight and surrounding areas. Nothing in those files seems to indicate such a thing though - it looks like it's all Solstheim. Which should be interesting at least, considering how much has transpired since the Nereverine last visited there 200 ago.

Man if its priced at 30-40....I may not get it.

That is like 50% the price of the main game itself.
Plus its up from the 20 we paid for Dawnguard.

If it holds true for the next big expansion then we could be paying 60 dollars for it.
I may just be out on a limb here but 30 DOLLARS for DLC is a bit much.

Dawnguard was well worth the 20 bucks, but 30 bucks for a DLC or add-on is a bit too much if you ask me.

If they're really charging 30 bucks for the next DLC, it better be damn big and damn awesome.

Oh, I guess people were okay paying $30 for Shivering Isles, but not okay paying $20 for the fat lot of content in Dawnguard or $30 if Dragonborn turns out to be a full-blown expansion like SI?

Sorry, but I think you people who have been griping about the price of Skyrim's DLC are really not thinking this through. Perhaps you're so used to paying $10 for an hour's worth of content that you can't see the value in paying $20 for 10-20 hours of content?

Bethesda is entitled to make a profit from their products, especially products like Dawnguard which were no doubt expensive to produce. Far more than the crap nickel and dime DLC people have sadly become accustomed to. Bethesda is entitled to charge people for what the content is worth, not underprice it to compete with s***ty hour-long, one-mission DLCs, appearance packs, map packs, or... whatever else it is you're comparing Dawnguard and Dragonborn to.

That's really what I think. Feel free to tear me apart - I have spoken my piece.

Well, by the looks of all that it's adding I'd say it could be justified. :P

It's patch 1.8.

Here are the notes for it:

BUG FIXES

[*]General memory and stability improvements

[*]Fixed rare crash when using vampiric grip

[*]Fixed issue where Arnleif and Sons Trading Company could become permanently locked

[*]Fixed issue related to duplicate NPCs

[*]Fixed rare issue where exterior doors would not open properly

[/list]Not a big deal, beyond the fact that it also has a bunch of files dedicated to the next DLC, which means we're getting it very soon.

I admit I was shocked by the Dawnguard price, but relative to the other crap game developers shove out the door, a Skyrim expansion is probably going to be as much content as some new games. I'll wait and see but there's little chance I won't be buying it.

If Dragonborn is actually a full blown expansion I doubt there would be any complaints. It's just DLC has a stigma of small bite sized content and many people who bought Dawnguard think it was just that.

If its worth 30 bucks I wont complain.
Price is not the deciding factor.

If its a big DLC with lots to do, I will gladly pay 30 bucks.
If it however is not worth its price I will not get it.

I would love to see an expansion centered around Hermaeus Mora. His unique appearance alone would be a sight to see.

Is this game worth getting right now? Or is it better to wait for the inevitable GOTY?

Rumblings on the lore forum, and they look to be genuine developer posts and not fan work.

Before Skyrim came out, the game was teased by a lore forum thread called On Boethiah's Summoning Day which purported to be correspondence between a Skingrad wizard and an Altmer whose island had previously been lost in Dagon's realm in Oblivion and got spat back to Tamriel after Martin Septim defeated him.

This week, the same correspondence is re-appearing.  After it's posted, the text is being edited by "Idhdaean of Vindasel."  Note that in the BGS forum, if you edit one of your posts, it will put a little tag at the end saying "Edited by so-and-so" and give the date and time.  These edits not only are using a different name than the original poster, the date and time given are Tamriel calendar rather than RL date and time.  The correspondence was originally 4E13 and the edits are dated 4E17.  So what it's showing is that someone in Tamriel took the correspondence between Chimere Graegyn and Tal Morag Ker (note TMK, The Michael Kirkbride??) and is changing it four years later.

This has to be dev work, and is no doubt a tease for the Dragonborn DLC.  Ok, now I'm getting hyped.  :wizard:
