Well, comparing Skyrim to Oblivion is an insult.... If you liked Oblivion, then Skyrim is infinately better.
So if you like the series, I'd definately advise you to buy it. It's the best Elder Scrolls title yet... by far.

Oh yes.  No question on that.  I can't think of a single thing that Oblivion does that Skyrim  doesn't do  better by leaps and bounds.  Skyrim is a case study in how to improve a product.

In fact,  the question is such a no-brainer, that the majority  of ES fans don't even bother to seriously compare it to Oblivion.   They mostly just debate whether Skyrim is  better than Morrowind.

The Empire "officially" no longer acknowledges Talos as a god, but it's clear most Imperial citizens don't much give a damn about that and continue to worship him in their hearts. It's also clear that the Empire is not interested in any long-term "peace" with the Thalmor and are gearing up for Great War, part deux.

Might as well let them.

Pretty much every guild related quest? trololol. No really the  DB at least was hands dwn better.

Morrowind is far too over hyped imo.

@goron, thats pretty much what the General says defactoly. And thanks to a...assassination on a bot the last imperial leader in the way of that is no longer in the way lulz.

I liked the whole plot with Mathieu Bellamont - I actually felt sorry for the boy and almost rooted for him. He still had to die, though - it's only business.

But better than the DB questline in Skyrim? I don't know about that - you assassinate the f***ing Emperor, and the buildup to it and final encounter is just... wow. Bethesda really threw a curveball with that one. I might not like Titus Mede, but I respect his bravery in the face of death. I only wish he'd had that courage after the Battle of the Red Ring.

The only questline more epic than the DB is the Dawnguard questline, mainly due to Touching the Sky which itself is probably the best quest in the game. It alone made Dawnguard worth $20 for me. But I digress.

What is odd though...the Dragonborn is given their talents by the AEDRA including Akatosh.

There is a theory that Akatosh sends the dragonborn to battle himself, at least the part of him that separated off at the dragon break.  Of course not everyone believes it ("Alduin Ent Akatosh!" ^_^)

Just one of the reasons I love the Elder Scrolls. The upcoming 'Dragonborn' DLC sounds fascinating - airships, a possible Thalmor allied Dragonborn, an attempt to un-create Mundus.

Haven't played the DB quest yet, but I liked the Companions much more than the Fighter's Guild and the College of Winterhold quests more than the Mage's Guild. The Thieves' Guild was also more fun than the Oblivion Thieves' Guild, the NPCs actually seemed like a group of criminals, instead of the Robin Hood type vibe I got from the Oblivion TG members.

If the Thalmor have airships it might explain the need to include dragon mounts - perhaps the Dovahkiin and Big O are gonna get into an epic sky battle. If we're gonna end up in High Rock at all, a dragon mount might prove useful there as well. I guess we'll see what this is all gonna be about on Monday.

So let me get this right. Hermaeus Mora is going to have something to do with this DLC, Dragonriding may get there, there's a possibility for werebears, Solstheim might be involved and now Talos, High Rock and the Thalmor might be brought into the whole mess as well. I don't know about anyone else but that sounds incredible to me.

Well, don't get too excited. It might not be quite as "epic" as that, so temper your expectations accordingly lest you be majorly let down. We get a trailer on Monday, so we'll know a more then.

Without question.

Yeah sounds like a little bit too much honestly. We'll find out soon enough I guess.

Does anyone find it coincidental that with Dawnguard they also gave us an image of the Dragonborn as a vampire? Anybody else think that image might be the Dragonborn as Hermaeus Mora's champion or something?

I wonder how those sharp mouth pincer-chompers will be used - might be handy for opening bottles of mead.

The figure in that picture is in the same pose as the Dovahkiin in the Dawnguard image as well as one of the posters for vanilla Skyrim, so I'm gonna assume it's him beneath the Hermaeus Mora-themed helmet. The Daedric Prince of Knowledge wants the Dovahkiin as his champion, indeed.

EDIT: Compare these images.

That must be the Dovahkiin sporting that pimp suit there - don't know why it would be anyone else.

I thought as much, yeah I don't think they did that randomly and quite frankly that armor is making me think about agreeing with Hermaeus Mora on some future playthroughs, I wonder what else we get for being his champion. Usually I always tell him to get lost, for some reason there's something particular about Hermaeus Mora that I didn't like when I encountered him.

He's probably the most mysterious of the Daedric Lords, and doesn't strike me as a particularly nice chap either. Whatever his intentions, I'm willing to bet they're malevolent, or extremely self-serving at the very least. Still, I've already allied myself with him in Discerning the Transmundane, so I suppose my Dovahkiin will continue to serve him in this upcoming DLC if that's indeed part of what will be in it.

Heh, I love Farkas for this reason.

And what a cute Swedish (?) accent.

About Hermaeus Mora, you'd think he'd be one of the "good" daedric lords.  His realm is a big library, how evil could he be?  Except his followers have a tendency to go mad, and he cares as much about them as your average daedra.

Maybe we'll get access to his realm to find out how to combat the Thalmor or something.  I have high hopes for this, story-wise.  Hope it does not disappoint.

It is all but confirmed that we'll be entering Hermaeus Mora's plane of Oblivion, Apocrypha - data files in Patch 1.8 indicate this:

ApoBendingBridge01.txt
ApoBendingHallway01.txt
ApoExtendingHallway01.txt
ApoParArchGates01.txt
ApoStacksRising01.txt
ApoSconces01.txt
ApoScryeTrigger01.txt
ApoPlatBStairAnim01.txt
ApoForbiddenBook01.txt
ApoForbiddenBook02.txt
ApoExtTowerBaseDias01.txt
DLC2ApocryphaBookWarp01.txt

Move over, Soul Cairn - there's a new plane of oblivion coming to town (I still think the Soul Cairn was pretty boss though).

I have heard that from a number of people. What was so good about Morrowind?

I actually just realized... that we haven't seen a single dragon in Skyrim yet, only wyverns. :P

So, when will we finally get to fight dragons in Skyrim? We're the dragonborn after all, are we not? Or did Bethesda lie to us when they said we get to fight dragons in Skyrim? If so, I'm gonna sue them!
