The VL form definitely trumps lycanthropy (unless werebears change that). The perks are waaaaay better and the spells are incredible - Vampiric Grip and Summon Gargoyle are particularly boss, and you can change in and out of the form at will and without having to reequip all of your items.

And with Auriel's Bow and Bloodcursed Arrows, you can put an end to that pesky sun and the nasty effects it has on you - and best of all, you don't have to actually side with those psycho vampires to do any of it. You can't lose.

I always side with the vampires but my characters are never evil. However Dawnguard has a lot of grey in it, Isran isn't exactly the best example of a good guy and Harkon is out of his mind but my characters never follow him anyways. Most of my characters, join the vampires out of personal gain nothing more, they could care less about Harkon's problems or about the "future of the vampire race".

Aside from that my guy only feeds on bad people like bandits, Erikur, some of the Battleborns, Maven Blackbriar, the Silverbloods and all the other wonderful examples of humanity that are present in Skyrim. Sometimes this game can be very morally ambiguous.

Werewolves played well do have one advantage.

They are MUCH faster then the VL form.
Plus their fear shout is GODLY.

Part of my problem is that I have zero interest in vampires, categorically. Having a vampire PC has no attraction to it. I don't have any interest in werewolves either, per se, but like the Companions enough to do it on a couple characters. Oh well, maybe when I'm really, really bored.

Same here. I really don't want to become a vampire or a werewolf. Tried both (in Morrowind and in Skyrim) and don't see the appeal. Yes, I tried the vampire lord form as well. Still not sold on the whole thing. It's cool that it's there though.

Everything else in Dawnguard I like: the story, the not-so-sparkly vampires, the new weapons (dragonbone and crossbows), the new areas. Well, there's one small detail I don't like. Game engine problem.

Ash piles. Same deal with the Fallout games actually. Permanent ash piles that slowly (very) fill up the game world. Unfortunately, Serana uses necromancy all the time. I don't know how long it'll take, but eventually your game will stop working if you have Serana as a follower. How depressing is that?

^ Most of my characters joined the Companions and became werewolves, simply to avoid catching diseases. Posted Image I never actually used the skillz. Shout? Yes. Rawwwr? No.

True, but then Arnold keeps asking if you have fur coming out of your ear. Drives me nuts!

There is a mod to fix that:

You're welcome.

I think the Dragonpriest we will be fighting in the DLC is going to be named:
Konahrik.

Think about it.
The mask is the only one without an owner in vanilla Skyrim.
It means WARLORD in the dragon tongue

We see one in the trailer WITHOUT a mask too.

I probably am wrong but it may be correct.
Now I will wear it when I meet him for maximum trolling potential.

A real mind ****: A while ago, developer Kurt Kuhlmann speculated that Ysgramor might have been a dragon priest.

Konahriik means "warlord."

HE'S BACK AND HE WANTS HIS SPOON.

I wonder if Spears actually got put in for player use.
None were seen for players.

So hopefully its not just for the Rieklings.

I highly doubt it's Konahriik guys. The same thing as been discussed on the Bethforums. His name is Miraak most likely.

It's definitely gonna be Miraak - there is a file called "MiraakDeathAnimation" or something along those lines, so Miraak is a creature or NPC. I don't think it's a dragon as dragon names are all comprised of three words, while Dragon Priest names consist only one or two at the most.

Also, the trailer said he was pretty much a traitor and started killing and devouring dragons rather than serve them. If the Dragon Cult knew about this, they may have excommunicated him and stricken his name and place from their history (explaining why there was no mention of him in dragon lore). It's also possible that he simply vanished to Solstheim and it was never known to the Dragon Cult what became of him.

This is an interesting subject - I've pondered on it a lot in the last day, and even before that when thee were just the data files from Patch 1.8 to go on.

I'm still a bit creeped out by my Khajiit having fur on her chest (go figure, she's a cat), but maybe that's just me.  Posted Image

LOL  Same.

Which is what I find odd about The Werewolf power/skill.   Unlike Vampirism, it has no downsides. (well, other than eliminating your rest bonuses)   So unless you're roleplaying, there's no reason to not become a werewolf.

The downside of being a werewolf is that it sucks in comparison to being a vampire. :P

Honestly, beastmode is weaksauce compared to OP vampire lord.

I do think werewolves look cooler though. But they're really weak in comparison to vampire lords. Lycanthrophy really needs a buff imo.

Hmm...

www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Ysgramor

Ysgramor and Hermaeus Mora are indeed connected somehow. I certainly don't think he's the "first Dragonborn" in the trailer, though - I do notice Ysgramor had a son, Ylgar, who disappeared after arriving at Hsaarik Head near modern day Winterhold. Ysgramor's oldest son, Yngol, was allegedly killed by "Sea-Ghosts" which could also be connected to "Herma-Mora"... I'm not sure what all is going on here, but it looks like you may have stumbled on something big, Addai. I'm gonna look at some books and other articles and see what all I can dig up.

Ooooh

So they are basically releasing HD skins for all the old Morrowind armor?
I kind of like that.
I hope they have Ordinator armor though.

That armor was boss.

Ysgramor and the Companions must've at least been associated with the Dragon Cult at one time, if not having been a part of it themselves - the Dragon Cult originated in Atmora in the first place and spread into Tamriel after the first Nedes began to settle there.

Ysgramor's Tomb and Yngol Barrow are both built in the same Draconic architecture as other barrows and cities built by the ancient Dragon Cult, and draugr are present in Yngol Barrow. It is not at all unfeasible that they were members of the Dragon Cult and may have even been Dragon Priests.

And somehow, "Herma-Mora" is mixed up in all of this.

So few records from the Merethic Era exist though, especially in the time of Ysgramor. Perhaps the DLC will shed some light on the mystery of the ancient Nedes and the Dragon Cult.
