We should not over hype the DLC that much.

I mean Bethesda does decent DLC, but over hype just hurts in the long run,

I really hope its good but I remain cautious.

It's pretty funny that Spriggans can take control of Dragons, a highly intelligent sentient race.

Also, if a piece of Morrowind is going to appear, who is going to be in control of the territory? The Empire or the Argonians?

I can't wait to return to the lands of the dunmer though..

Huh so I have been saying Solstheim wrong all these years.

Its Souls-time
Not Soul-isth-eum

My bad.

I'm still looking through books and articles looking for a possible mention of this first Dragonborn, or a possible candidate for who it might be. I have a hard time believing Dragon Priests were born with names like "Morokei" or "Rahgot" - these are more likely titles, not birth names.

No, Miraak was likely a named figure from the early Merethic Era - it could be someone we haven't heard of before, but I think we already know of him. Either from a brief mention in a book or conversation... or maybe an important figure in history who disappeared, or most records of whom were simply lost in time.

Either way, he is connected to Solstheim (which Ysgramor's Companions are known to have invaded during the Return) - and the presence of barrows on the island is a clear indication that the Dragon Cult was active there given that Nord burial rites originate with them. Perhaps there is a book from Bloodmoon that has answers.

Good point, but I seriously doubt I'll kill myself if it turns out to be slightly below my expectations. That said, I'll probably be dead anyway by the time it's released on the PC :)

PS: That picture belongs in the Pessismist's Handbook, only with "game" replaced by "X".

Most likely, it's not their name, even if it's not a title. I would imagine that like other religious leaders and other leaders throughout history once they assume a mantle, they take another name or title. In this case when they were "ordained" so to speak, as Dragon Priests, to emphasise the removal and elevation from their human brethren.

Any thoughts as to whether the names you mentioned are infact a title in the dragon tongue, ie: it has some meaning to the Dov, but remains simply a word or a name to humans?

I just bought a new awesome PC rig that should enable me to play Skyrim with a bunch of epic graphic-enhancing / ENB mods.

Does anyone have some tips for me which ENBs are nice? I have an Nvidia GPU in my new rig so I can also enhance my Skyrim graphics using Nvidea Inspector.

So, what should I do? Use Nvidea Inspector, or an ENB from Nexus, or both?

SIGH, Skyrim has started crashing when I save the game after the latest patch.

I don't know that it has anything to do with the patch, just haven't seen it until now with at least 200 hours of playtime.

According to TES Wiki's article about the Dragon language:

Mir = Allegiance

Aak = Guide

So Miraak roughly translates into "Allegiance Guide." Used together though, I believe "Miraak" likely takes on a slightly different meaning much like some of the other Dragon Priest titles/names.

Take the name "Nahkriin", the Priest who guards Skuldafn, for example:

Nah = Fury

Krii = Kill

Combined to together as "Nahkriin", the word now means "vengeance."

An even better example is "Vokun", the Priest in High Gate Ruins:

Vo = the prefix "un"

Kun = Light

Together, the word becomes "Vokun" which means "shadow" ( lit. "unlight").

What "Mir" and "Aak" mean when put together, I don't know. I suppose we'll find out for sure on December 4th. :)

Allegiance Guide? Don't know about you but allegiance might be related to Hermaeus Mora, allegianve towards him as for guiding, I guess that could be related to the dragon cult, dragon priests guide the dragon cult I guess. I'm going to say that if the first Dragonborn owes his allegiance to Hermaeus Mora he will guide his followers to complete Hermaeus Mora's plans. Otherwise I'd say its related to knowledge which is Hermaeus Mora's specialty.

Somehow I think that temple is probably going to take us to his realm.

Ah. According to UESP and some random forum users, they introduced a bug in 1.8 that makes saving crash your game after a specific point in Waking Nightmare. Apparently it affects your save. Good thing I'm alternating saves at least I guess. But I really wish Bethesda would get those bugs under control at some point. So...

WARNING: Don't do Waking Nightmare until in 1.8.

I remember when dragons flew backwards. That was a fun moment. I'd  just wish they'd stop making deals with Microsoft, exclusivity sucks.

That name was surely given to him by the Dragon Cult, likely before he'd ever convened with Hermaeus Mora (or very shortly afterward).

But you may have a point as far as the core meaning of the word, and I'd thought of that as well. And when you consider the description given of him by the Skaal elder in the trailer, it fits quite well - Miraak is one who swore allegiance to the Dov and guided their followers as a Dragon Priest.

Of course, once he discovered that he was Dovahkiin, he broke that allegiance and sought the power of the Dov for himself. He betrayed his lords and stole their very souls, and ruled over Solstheim in the name of those he betrayed.

Quite poetic, if I do say so myself.

I wish I had experienced that particular bug instead. At least that one is fun and not quite so gamebreaking. Luckily, I have learned to
a) Keep backups.
B) Alternate saves.
So I lost about an hour and a half maybe. Not too bad.

As for the exclusivity deal. Yes, it's horrible. I will survive though. I have so much to do and too little free time left. A month waiting for Skyrim DLC means I can catch up on some other things.

Thus proving what Paarthurnax said:
That as a Dragonborn you too feel the urge to conquer and destroy just like any dragon does.

Watch the trailer again and you can see that:
0:05- Look at the wall and see House Redoran flags on the wall.
0:37- You can see Red Mountain from Solstheim.
0:47- You can see a person standing in the Telvani tower that appears to be female. Maybe giving some evidence of Tel Fyr since he has four "daughters"

I think we wont even touch on Morrowind and that the Dunmer's or the Red Year have terraformed parts of Solstheim in the past 200 years.

Hopefully TFD (the first dragonborn) is interesting as a foe. More then Harkon at least who fell FAR behind Vrythur.

I consider Vyrthur the true villain of the DG storyline. He was the one who created the Tyranny of the Sun prophecy to begin with, and through his machinations was somehow able to set the events of Dawnguard into motion.

He also appears to have already been aware of Serana long before she and the Dovahkiin confronted him, and was in fact expecting them as part of his scheme to acquire a Daughter of Coldharbour and have his revenge on Auri-El ("centuries of preparation"). Hell, he may have even orchestrated it so that Harkon would discover the prophecy in the first place.

It's a shame they didn't go into a little more detail about Vyrthur and his plans - I think he was a fantastic villain, and one we could actually sympathize with rather than just being a psychopathic megalomaniac like Harkon.

Let the Xbox kiddies have their exclusivity. We can wait a month. After all, we play the superior version of Skyrim, with mods and superior graphics.

I rather wait a month and be part of the superior PC master race than have the DLC early but being a console kiddie having to play Skyrim on a piece of plastic.

HAIL MY ARYAN PC MASTER RACE FRIENDS!

(It feels good to finally have a proper PC rig and to be finally part of the PC Master race.)

Same goes for me, I don't think I'll be able to do much of anything but I will have some free time in December unfortunately, at least I've got other new games to play while I wait but going back to Skyrim is inevitable it always is.

As for that quest, I've finished it before the patch came out at least with my Nord 2H warrior I did, don't know if that will be an issue, at least I have saves before it in any case.

Pretty much. On the flipside though, submerging yourself in the water does make you invunerable. Ever have one of those long, drawn-out dragon fights that spans long distances? Try jumping in the water in the middle of one of those fights. Dragon can't touch you, Even his breath attack can't harm you when you're under water.

Being killed by a slaughterfish has to be the lamest defeat in gaming right next my team of Terry Bogard & Yun being clowned by Dan in Capcom vs Snk 2.

Where are all the slaughterfish in this game? It used to be in Morrowind and Oblivion that you couldn't even step into the shallows without one of those things pestering you. In Skyrim, I hardly ever see them.

Oh you poor stupid Vampires.

They attack my home, causing Gregor to go to town on them with his Dragonbone Greatsword
I mean honestly I am going to leave the impaled corpses of my enemies around my home as a lesson or something.
