Where are all the slaughterfish in this game? It used to be in Morrowind and Oblivion that you couldn't even step into the shallows without one of those things pestering you. In Skyrim, I hardly ever see them.

Lake Ilinalta has them.  Shallows in the Reach.  The lake south of Riften.

"@BGS_Devs: To update: we're also close on new Skyrim content for PS3 and PC"

Matt Grandstaff clarified that it is new DLC content (they're calling them "add-ons" these days for some reason).

Lore geekery:

I made a side-by-side of the two On Boethiah's Summoning Day sets of letters.  On the left are the original letters, which were published in the lore forum exactly a year ago, just before Skyrim came out.  The right column are the new versions just posted, with edits by what appears to be a Thalmor named Idhdaean of Vindasel.

If you don't remember Vindasel, it was the Ayleid ruin where we got Umbra in TES IV.

Umbra was supposed to have been destroyed on Solstheim - it's the one artifact I miss sorely from Morrowind in particular. I'd be pretty giddy if it came back.

Hmm... "I've felt since birth that should I ever meet a dragon it would be my solemn duty to slay it." A most intriguing line, indeed. Is this information canonical?

Believe I have encountered them in the Northern swamps surrounding the Abandoned Shack. Now wondering if those previous games also had as many Chaurus (Chauri?) as Skyrim contains.

Yeah they are all over some of the colder shallow waters, just in various places I run into em often.

Neither Chaurus nor Falmer were present in any previous TES games as far as I am aware - there was a theory that Rieklings = Falmer back before Skyrim came out, but I truly doubt it. I think they're just "ice goblins" (quite literally in the case of Dragonborn, as their models and animations are recycled from the goblins in that GameJam video).

I played a ton of Skyrim for about five months then got burnt out. But I've been really bored lately and want to get an RPG fix. So I thought about starting a fresh guy with a bunch of new mods sometime soon, so my question is; Is Dawnguard worth the price? I never make my guy a werewolf or vampire, they just don't appeal to me, although crossbows sound really sweet. So is the story/quest worth 20$? That's a lot for a DLC if you ask me.

Its pretty fun actually.

Plus 2 VERY impressive new areas, lore, VL form, and new stuff to do.
Trust me when I say when you have lots of fun playing it.

The DLC offers a lot for $20 - it has more content than some $60 games do. I don't even like calling it DLC - that term is too often associated with map packs, equipment packs, quick hour-long bonus missions, alternate costumes, and other "wham bam thank you ma'am" tidbits of content that leave you wanting for the $7-$10 you just blew on it.

Consider it a mini-expansion - it's a full questline with two different factions and unique side quests for both in addition to new areas associated with them (one of which is the size of Blackreach and the other being even bigger). New game mechanics are introduced, existing ones are improved, and in general the entire Skyrim experience benefits from this add-on.

And storyline? Let me tell you that Dawnguard has the best storyline in the game, trumping even the Dark Brotherhood IMHO - don't be fooled into thinking it's all about vampires either, because I can assure you there's a lot more to it than that. You will have your mind blown in the lore department towards the end of the questline and embark on what is easily the most epic, breathtaking quest in the game, which by itself made the price of admission completely worth it for me.

I can't recommend this add-on enough, friend - quit worrying about the price tag and just get the darn thing already. It will be $20 well spent, I assure you - more so than if you had spent that money on a few unremarkable bits of nickel and dime DLC that don't have even half the content of Dawnguard... combined.

Ah, there's also another side quest completely separate from both the Dawnguard and Volkihar - it has to do with the Dwemer and offers a nice little reward at the end. Go get it.

Alright thanks. I might buy it tonight and start downloading while I sleep/cram for an exam.

It's definitely a developer who posted them.  Ordinary forum posters can't manipulate forum edit tags like that.  So I'd say it's apocryphal (because not in game) but official.

Umbra was destroyed over the Imperial City, at the end of Lord of Souls.

I simply LOVE walking into town as my mage.
Since I always have two Ice Atronach walking around with me.

Damn I need to get a picture of that for fun.

Hmph, yes I see now. I got my locations mixed up there - too bad, as I was holding out a shimmer of hope that Umbra would make a glorious return.

And that means what exactly? I hate PR talk.

That was an announcement about an announcement, with unspecified date and content. So yeah.

Another werewolf problem: Vilkas will attack my PC when she transforms. I know that this is because he and Farkas are set to guard faction, but can't find a fix. Does anyone know of one?

To be fair, we can't judge how long the new dlc is.

But yes, I am damn sure Dragonborne will have much more content than Omega.

Beth's standard of DLC is MUCH better than Bioware.

Ha. Bioware and standards.

Ha.

Dawnguard not only grants another 20+ hr storyline, but includes a lot of upgrades for the vanilla game. Things like Mounted Combat, darker caverns, underground water movement, crossbows, Dragonbone weaonry, etc are part of the entire experience; not to mention a way to alter appearance if one is still mortal (non-Undead; guessing non-lycanthrope). Well worth my investment!

I would rather spend 20 dollars and get some good DLC
Then 10 dollars on an item pack.

Ah yes, the face sculptor - I nearly forgot about her. She can indeed change your face if you're a werewolf, just not as a vampire. You'll have to pay a visit to Falion if you want your vampire to get a new look.

But... but... $5 ammo clips are the wave of the future! They will save gaming!

Ha ha, I can't even do that in sarcasm. Bethesda can take all my money. I'm hoping we not only get Dragonborn coming out before Christmas on all platforms, they'll also announce Fallout 4 at the VGA's. Put a Santa hat on Todd Howard.
