Now I'm debating on which of my characters to play in the new DLC...one of my Orcs? A Breton? Maybe dust the cobwebs off my Argonian? I just don't know! Or do I create an entirely new character?

I'd say make a brand new character each time there is any kind of DLC.

It's fun to just play through the game normally and just sort of stumble on the new content without knowing how it starts.

^ My Argonian is a measly level 2, so I might just go ahead and use her. She basically just made it to Whiterun, before I made the next new character. I was on a character building spree at the time.

Lore-wise, though, which seems like it would pack the most punch with the DLC? I didn't play any TES games prior to Oblivion, so I'm kind of out of the loop, aside from the scraps I've picked up here and there.

Well....

I actually really only have one character I truly RP and play as in Skyrim.
The rest are achievement hunters for me.

Argonian would be a good match, perhaps your character was formerly a slave owned by a wealthy Dunmer, for example. I don't know which remnants of the Dunmer Houses will make an appearance in the DLC, but here is a quote from the UESP about how the various factions treated their Argonian slaves:

House Dres thrives on mass-abduction of Argonian and Khajiit into slavery, often with the support of local rival warlords, selling their own kind. Dres families work Argonian slaves on large Saltrice plantations on the southeast coast of Morrowind, while others profit from the slave trade itself. They hold thousands in their infamous slave-pens of Tear, to be shipped by smugglers to cave holding pens on the Bitter Coast. The plantations of House Hlaalu nobles make widespread use of slaves as farm labor. House Redoran employs them in a lesser degree, though some of their warriors use slaves like gladiators in ancient Rome, pitting them against beasts for entertainment. House Telvanni uses slaves as servants for housework and as labor in mines. Towns like Molag Mar,Suran and Tel Aruhn have regular Slave Markets.

Your kitty assassin? You know, it's been a while since you've posted a photo of him. Posted Image

@naughty - Very interesting. I think I might get her started with some basic skills during the next couple of weeks, in preparation. It sounds like being a Dunmer could have a compelling flip side as well.

I could never play just one character - doesn't the combat become way too easy after you get up around level 40 or so?

I'm bit disappointed there is no indication of any DLC diving any deeper in Skyrim politics. Thalmor vs Empire, Stormcloaks Rebellion. I'm enjoying scattered bits and pieces of this clusterhump very much and feel there are stories here that fit in overall feel and look of the game perfectly. Much better than any Mary Sue Dragon Man plot does!:l Skyrim is cold ans smells of sweat, not of High Fantasy oompah that smells of I dunno..JRPG storylines.

Havign said that I still havent finished any of the main side quests...or main storyline so Ive no idea in what condition Skyrim is when main game ends.

Agreed. The main thing that annoyed me about the plot was the inability to dive any deeper into the Thalmor subplot.

That said, I guess I'm still more excited about a Morrowind-centric DLC.

Yeah...try telling high level mages, dragons, and such that they are an easy fight.
Melee foes become laughable.

People who can chuck all powerful spells around like nothing are very dangerous.
Most late game strategy is all about killing spell users fast...or you get killed very fast.

Interesting - maybe there is a point around level 30-40 where the combat becomes too easy and perhaps at higher levels it becomes challenging again?

I've always started over around level 30, only one character made it to level 40 and it really felt like he was overpowered on Master difficulty, so I retired that character and started a new one. So far I've played about 5 characters, each one lasted around 100-200 hours.

...do you even know what a "Mary Sue" is? Also, "High Fantasy" and "JRPG" have no business being in the same sentence together.

Tell you what: next time, why don't you just say "I don't like the story of the new DLC and would prefer something more to do with Skyrim politics" and just leave it at that, mmkay?

I'm still impressed with how awesome-looking Khajiit are in Skyrim. Such an improvement over Oblivion.

I still have yet to play anything other than a Nord. I'm kinda stuck on them.

I'd like to play a female Breton PC sometime, but their faces are much harder to make "right" than males are. I'm a perfectionist like that.

Yeah, female Bretons can be tough, and those wrinkles really do show up. Too much.

Thank goodness for the face-changer in the Ratway. This is the "revised" version of my first Breton, Lielle. Despite the changes from the original version, it looks like someone took a panini press to her face. Posted Image

I'm not sure you could make a bad-looking Khajiit, though. I just want to hug them when I see them.

I really need to get some new images.

Khajiit look awesome no matter what:

Especially after they soul trap someone, steal their clothes, murder everyone on their boat, and sit in their chair.

I think you and I both need to get back into playing our kitties, Giggles. And peer pressure Green into trying one out. Heh.

Should finish the Civil War anyway.....put Ulfric's soul gem next to the Emprah's.

But its kind of hard since he is a mixture of:

Playing someone who REVELS in causing chaos and destruction, who does not even care who he kills, will do any job given to him, and is a complete monster is not fun.
He was created just to do the DB and get the Daedric achievements.

He has NO redeeming qualities. The reason he fights Alduin and the Thalmor? To get fame to further sink his fingers into the political fabric of Tamriel. No matter who gets in his way he will destroy them.

Yeah, that would be pretty tough. Although my characters always do the Daedric quests; I don't really consider them to be evil, per se. They mostly just want the booty at the end of the rainbow.

He killed Erandur.
Backstabbed him.

I mean....the man was so close to atoning for what he did and helping people. Then he gets stabbed in the back by the man he thought he could trust. I can still recall that scream he let out to.

I mean that was just low....

My characters are never very nice guys... but killing Silus, Erandur, and Verulus? I just can't do it. Even if I intend to kill any of them, I usually choke up at the last second and end up giving Dagon/Vaermina/Namira the finger anyway. I do Molag Bal and Boethiah's quests, but I don't care much for it.

Of course, there's a bit more to defying Dagon than Silus - that fiend nearly destroyed all of Tamriel once, and could lead to it being destroyed a second time as it's because of the Oblivion Crisis that the Thalmor came into power. So he can take his dagger and shove it.

True. Although I remember trying to heal Erandur while in combat (during his quest), and getting a very snippy bit of dialogue out of him - something to the effect of, "don't expect a thank you". It made me feel not so bad about pleasing Vaermina.

Alas, I have let him live a handful of times. I'm still working toward that Oblivion Walker achievement. The problem is remembering which quests I've done for which characters, and which ones I have left.
