Bah, Bioware writing is overrated. Because a dev chooses not to do something doesn't mean they can't. They've said one of their design principles in Skyrim was simplicity, which people who like to bash them interpret as dumbing down. But with a game that has as many complex variables as these huge, open world RPGs, it's not a bad principle to go by.
What you're reffering to are gameplay mechanics, not characterization. I'd hold up the members of the Dark Brotherhood as a perfect example of how to keep things simple yet provide fully fleshed out charatcers. And I have no problem with how they changed things in Skyrim, compared to Oblivion. In fact, I'd say all the changes are for the better since I find Skyrim to be a lot more enjoyable experience than the previous 2 Elder Scrolls games. It's simply that I believe a bit more effort should be put into those characters that you spend most of your time with, which, I'll grant, wouldn't really be easy to fix now since there's way to many people in Skyrim who you can recruit as followers.

I like the alchemy garden in the HF houses but hate the bees that spawn in there- fear of bees. I have to run around and catch them to stop the buzzing.
Yeah, the bees tend to end up all over my house. Bee catching is one of the first things my dragonborn does when she gets back home. She'll probably need to hire a proffesional bee catcher at thins point..

So which room would that be in Hjerim? It's been so long since I visited that house (sans blood and gore) that I've completely forgotten where the alchemy table is.greengoron89 wrote...
Talk to the Steward and ask to decorate your house - an option should appear for a Children's Bedroom. However, it replaces your Alchemy Lab, so unless you're not a big fan of Alchemy (like me) you might want to skip the bedroom.
Don't tell me the kids room ends up where Calixto was building his zombie bride?
Honestly, I don't bother with the vanilla houses anymore, post Hearthfire...but if I did, it would be Hjerim. In this run, I didn't even buy Breezehome. Once I had enough cash to buy the plot, I started building Lakeview Manor.

I got a little further into the Dawnguard questline last night, and sided with DG, so I could get some better crossbow action. After Serana came to visit, (and getting chewed out by Isran), I went to chat with Sorine and Gunmar, and did some smithing and poking around the fort.
I came back upstairs later, and Isran and Serana were in bed together.
Also...I cheated for a bit, by not taking Serana home, and using both her and Benor (and Barbas for a time). I just wanted my own squad for a little bit, and thought I'd get a couple of the "harder" crypts out of the way. Hehe.
And then I went and actually got Eola. She looks really cute in DG armor, tbh.

LOL It's addictive. But it does remind me of Oblivion. The houses there were more empty, you recall, so I spent hours painstakingly positioning stuff where I wanted it, potion bottles on the shelves, food on the tables to make it look lived-in, etc. Apart from the Skingrad house, the houses really were empty, so HF is a step up there. Even if your steward doesn't say much, just having someone puttering around makes them friendlier. I like coming out on the patio and seeing Ghorbash sipping his mead.TobiTobsen wrote...
Good lord... started to build my first house yesterday. It's the Sims all over again. Can't do anything else but building my house.

@ Master Shiori: Oh ok, I get what you're saying. The factions could have been deeper, as well. It looks like they intended that, with unfinished quests for Rune and Sapphire for instance. Too bad they didn't follow through.

But holy cow, that storage wing has a ridiculous amount of stuff in it. More chests than you could shake a stick at. I don't know how you'd be able to keep track of what you put where in that room. I only built it, because it was the only wing I hadn't tried yet.
I'm half tempted to build the bedrooms, storage room, and armory in the next house, just so I can have a massive party deck, all the way around the house! But I'd miss the trophy room. Waa.

According to BGS, the first one you see is a new enemy called Ash Spawn. And the "cylon" is Redoran.
Redoran concept art from Morrowind:

Men.
He didn't play Dawnguard or Hearthfire, and only has one character (an Argonian). I'm pretty sure I've spent about 900 more hours playing Skyrim than he has. But this - THIS - he really wants to play. We're going to be like a couple of kids in a candy store on December 4th!

Im looking forward to all the extra content that we dont know about! The Aetherium Shard quest was a nice surprise on the back of Dawnguard
I am hoping we will find out lots about what has happened in Morrowind since the Red Year, and get some Nord lore as well.
Still no release date for PC and PS3.

I'm getting back into Skyrim again now, I'm still only half way through, but I want to try and get as much of the main game done before this comes out.
As to release dates. The xbox release is on the 4th of December, so I wouldn't have thought Bethesda would risk missing the Christmas Holidays with this DLC release. I would have thought it'd be released just before Christmas itself or before the new year. Well for PC at least. It seems that they're having major problems with making the PS3 port due to the difference between that platform and the other two.
