I'm kind of bummed out because ESO says that the wood elves and thalmor are allies and I for one was looking very forward to playing as a wood elf hopefully we don't have to stay with our allies

That Aldmeri Dominion is not the same one as in Skyrim game time.  The Thalmor were always around but only as a faction.  They didn't come to rule until after the Oblivion Crisis.

I found my old Oblivion saves!

Ok, my Dunmer chick was not as good looking as I remember.  Those body models are hideous.  She's a linebacker.

My first character, a Nord battlemage

He had a major thing for Eyja.  Mm, shepherd's pie.

Posted Image

I had a Breton male I didn't even remember.   Achille.  I think he's probably the best looking of the lot, but still has that lumpy quality.  Skyrim has come a long way.

^ The Nord Battlemage is appealing; my fave amongst them.

Am hoping that future TES games gain even more freedom and surrealistic in the CC, I would like to have both the Argonian and Khajiit appear more fearsome than cute, at least as options.

Love the duel wield option in Skyrim.

Well, I think you and I, and maybe one or two others are the only ones who do.  Dual wielding axes is my thing, but it doesn't get alot of love around here.  Posted Image

Sorry, I'm late to the party. My new Bosmer is a dual wielder (still just swords; haven't branched out to daggers or axes yet). This is actually my first character to DW at all, and I totally love it.

I did get sidetracked, though...at some point, I decided I couldn't live without a Dremora Lord, so I started focusing on Conjuration, and kinda left DW by the wayside. As of last night, I did the Conjuration Mastery quest, and completed my training. Yay!

Backing up a bit: I was working on the Dark Brotherhood quests, and had just maxed out Conjuration, which meant I could finally have a thrall - my first thrall, ever. So I return to the DB Sanctuary, and Maro and his gang had just more or less burned it to the ground. My buddie Festus was pinned to a tree; my brother in crime, Veezara, was dead and naked on the floor, and Gabriella was missing her hood. Arnbjorn rawwwred for the last time, and I got to see Astrid nekkid.

After leaving the Sanctuary, I knew exactly what to do. I formed a broad grin, and literally ran to the Solitude docks, to turn the (now late) Commander Maro into my first thrall! Posted Image

Then my posse and I left the emperor arse-up on his chair, and went on our merry way. Maro spent the entire boat ride moaning, and muttering "Kill". I think he was having a good time.

I also got the Twin Souls perk - any suggestions for a second thrall?

Flame atronachs are nice all-around summons. Ranged and they are slender enough that they don't get in the way as much as others, and fire damage is the most generally useful. Though they still do get in your way- at some point I don't like having my party get crowded. Divines help you if you have to backtrack through a narrow passageway.

^ I went through several mage forts over the weekend, and spent a lot of time with my storm atronach. I never realized that they actually have a face. They're kinda cute!

And after all that, I totally agree. If you're in narrow passageways, and have a wide summon like the storm or frost atronach, you can kind of forget moving. Even the Dremora Lord can get in the way. It's especially chaotic if you have a follower who likes to revive the dead (I'm looking at you, Serana).

I know you'll hate this Addai, but I'm wondering about having Ulfric as a thrall. Would he still shout? Actually, I'm siding with Stormcloaks in this run, so it's out of the question, but I keep wondering about that.

I havent played a caster in Skyrim sorry! every time my characters get to level 40
I delete them .. roflmao.

Build my charts as rogues with swords, I do not put points in daggers/axes or maces. Lanaya uses a bow from time to time but thats all.. no spells.

That's assuming you can actually raise Ulfric. Some npcs are too high level for that to work.

^ Really? I would think Master level Dead Thrall spell would work on on any humanoid...my Conjuration is at 100.

Does anyone know if you can raise Ulfric with Dead Thrall?

During one of the early play throughs I had a Master Necromancer who raised Ulric's headless body with the Dead Thrall spell but in one of the many patches since then it no longer worked. You can resurrect Galmar Bear Head as a dead thrall but Ulric now seems to level too high to be resurrected.

Kind of a bummer since it use to complete my contempt for all things Nord.

If all else fails, consult the Wiki. Posted Image

According to uesp, you CAN use Dead Thrall on Ulfric (until level 40), and he will still shout. In fact:

Unique NPCs

Unique NPCs will retain their unique abilities when reanimated. For example,

Ulfric Stormcloak will still use shouts.
Orchendor will still teleport.
Cicero will still dance randomly, and talk normally as he does while a follower.
Arch-Curate Vyrthur Only up to character level 34 (Without Necromage perk) or 41 (With Necromage Perk)

However, some NPCs such as Ulfric Stormcloak are leveled with the player which means once the player is above level 40 then the character will not be possible to reanimate.

Others, such as Orchendor, are capped at level 40, making them a valid option for any player, but only after their related quests are completed.

My character is around level 35, so I might pick a different playthrough to try it. I'm sad I didn't think of Arch-Curate Vyrthur; he sounds like fun.

Wait a second...so you CAN get a Dremora thrall after all?

Dremora

A Dremora Markynaz (level 36) may be summoned at the Atronach Forge. Once defeated, it may be raised again to serve the player.

I think Ulfric will have to wait.

I've heard of people doing it, so I knew it must be possible.

My Altmer was a necromancer, but it creeps me out. Serana's summons are more trouble than they're worth. What's funny is when she raises them after I've already looted them so we have this naked zombie toddling after us.

I have found Volkihar Vampires are by far the best for the aspiring necromancer.

@ Addai I almost didn't recognize you w/ the new avatar. Nice! Though I don't recall that hairstyle on the DA cc.

^ Yeah, I had heard of that too, but I wasn't sure if it was a mod or something. Next on my list is the Dremora thrall. Oh, happy day.

Back to the Midden Maze, then it's time to spruce up the Dawnstar Sanctuary. I think I might take Cicero out for a spin.

Haha- I've just started Dawnguard and have Serana following me around so I didn't realize at first she summons so much. Turned around and I start wacking on a cave bear, only to realize Serana had summoned it.

Yeah I think with necromancer you have to go all in, using the Necromage perk and all.  I like the dremora and atronach summons better.  I don't even use permanent thrall because I want to send them away when they're a bother, and with all the perks they will hang around for a long time.

@happy_daiz: You definitely can get a dremora thrall.

Heh, I got DAO Ultimate Edition on a Steam sale so was playing around in it last night.  The hair is from tmp7704's tucked hair mod, which I had to dl immediately.

^ Where does the kids room end up in Proudspire Manor?

I noticed that my two new Hearthfire houses don't show up under "houses owned" stats. Meh.

^ Cool, thanks! Maybe I'll load an older character who has all the houses, and add the kids bedroom, just so I can see exactly where it ends up. I have a general idea, from what's been talked about here, but since Hearthfire, I haven't even been inside one of the other houses. I'm starting to forget what they look like inside.

And BTW, cheers for having Runa Fair-Shield as an adoptive kid. I really like her.
