Did you check if there was a disk inside the box? Because I also came across a boxed version of Dawnguard in a game store but all there was inside was a Steam code.renjility wrote...
^ But the solution of a shout forcing the dragon to serve as a mount seems similar to the shout that forces dragons to land. It's the same idea.
On an unrelated topic, this is probably old news for everyone here, but when I went into a game store today and browsed through the pc games I stumbled upon a hard copy of Dawnguard. I didn't know that Bethesda had released the DLC as hard copy mini expansion as well. If I had known, I would have bought one instead of downloading it (I like hard copies).

You have no idea how awesome I'm gonna feel riding a dragon over Skyrim. Oh man, YUSS.
Its gonna be beautiful. When it comes to Skyrim, it's both. Unlike other games, Skyrim's dragons are intelligent beings. As smart or smarter than the Human and Elven citizenry. That is what makes them such dynamic enemies/allies (from a story perspective) in this game. How would you feel about being able to mount a Nord, or a High Elf? Well? The premise is the same. To treat them as if they were nothing more than Animals to be tamed and ridden, like horses or other wildlife, is... silly. And cheap, even if it the end result is "wee! riding dragons is fun!"The Ethereal Writer Redux wrote...
Dragon riding being good or bad is primarily in the delivery, not the actual premise itself.
The solution Bethesda appears to opting for here (based on the new Shout, and the new Achievement) is to allow the player's character to *force* a dragon to be his mount through Magic - a fact that seems completely lost on people who claim to hate the "a Mage did it!" story-writing trope.
Unless High Hrothgar is actually a camper van explain how it got from Skyrim to Solstheim
As for the rest dude stop selling your opionion as FACT, when in FACT its just your opionion.

What makes you think that's the player character?
You know I am trying not say something I will regret but honestly? You are acting just like Justina does.
Coming into a thread and telling everyone they are wrong and childish for liking something.
Acting superior and "better" or having more refined tastes then others.
Its just very annoying.
I dont even know why I respond when all you do is scream about how vile it is that GASP you ride a dragon.
If you dont like it, you probably will only even half to do it once.
This is why none of us on the BSN go to the Bethesda forums because its filled with monomaniacs like you ranting over one thing. The DLC is probably not even going to be about riding Dragons, no more then Dawnguard was about riding Arvak!
Ugh I give up.

Well... my Nord mounted Aela. =P
Seriously though, I think you may have a point. In both of the games I listed that have dragon riding as a part of its background, the Dragons themselves are intelligent as well. But you could only ride them if they agreed to it.
For SO:TtEoT, the Kingdom of Airyglyph has an entire Dragon Brigade. The riders, however, must undergo a specific rite and prove to a Dragon that they're worthy of riding them. If the Dragon accepts, then boom -- another Dragon rider. If they refuse... it generally ends badly.
The biggest dragon in that game had to be fought and beaten just so you could ride him when **** hit the fan, because before then he was continuously saying what amounts to "Hell no!"
If Skryim's Dragonborn DLC incorporates a randomizer for the success rate of riding a Dragon when the Dragonborn uses the Shout, I think that'd be fine. Use it once, you might succeed. Use it again, you might succeed or fail. And so on and so on.
Then again...

...this is valid as well. If the game allows you to force Dragons to do something already, then it allowing you to force the Dragons to do another thing isn't that different.
Granted, I've never encountered a Dragon landing shout, but then again I haven't even finished the game because of a combination of work, PS3 lag, and just all around exhaustion.

There's no reason to believe it won't be on any other basis than what we already have for summoning Odahviing- that the dragons are consenting or bowing to someone whose thu'um is proven superior.Yrkoon wrote...

I mean riding a Dragon is cool, but you are Dovah and have their soul. We have Werewolves and Vampire Lord forms.... you can see where this is going, yes I want to turn into a Dragon!

You could play Divinity II, the Dragon Knight saga. That allows you to turn into a dragon. (warning : Controls are kind of odd and graphics are nowhere near as good as they can be. Also watch out for an unintelligent antagonist and a somewhat predictable plot....but you turn into a dragon!)

After some time away from Skyrim I'm getting back into some of the quests and am currently trying to finish the Stones of Barenziah. I've got 23 of 24, but have checked the Wiki for it and I have visited each and every location multiple times to try and find the one I am missing...no luck. Is it possible the game glitched out somewhere and lost one? The only one I can think of is if the Stone in the DB sanctuary is really only allowed to be collected during the specific quests mentioned on the Wiki....otherwise I'm stumped.

I am also not one into riding Dragons, but it would be somewhat more immersive if one did have the element of danger involved while in flight.

I went back and checked each location on the Wiki and didnt see any...but I guess I'll just have to check them again.

There's a mod that adds quest markers for them. If you're on PC, you could try that.
Sadly, I'm on 360.
