Apparently the DLC wont start until the Greybeards name you Dragonborn.
Which has also set off a lot of ****ing amongst the forums because "YOU LIED BETHESDA YOU SAID AT ANY POINT!"

<_<

Is it really that tragic for those people? I mean all you have to do is to complete a few quests. I'm planning on not even starting Dawnguard and Dragonborn until after I finish the main quest. Those people complain about everything.

^ I can recommend starting the DG storyline earlier, as the events are planned to have one travel a great deal of Skyrim. But as has ben noted, it is not required.

Folks will complain over anything; let 'em. Making fun of them here is what will make waiting bearable.... Image IPB

Am I the only one not surprised the DLC DRAGONBORN which involved a DRAGONBORN antagonist can't start in earnest until the PC is also a DRAGONBORN which would seem to be a prerequisite for a conflict between DRAGONBORNS.

Silly me.

Don't know about that, the only thing I ever do before actually playing the whole DG questline and I only do it for certain characters is getting the VL power but that's it. However I just finish the MQ first because it would seem that the dragons are more pressing than the vampires.

See, that kinda depends on where one is on the MQ. At some early points, not too much is known, and gathering power and experience is advisable.

OTOH, as early as 10th, the PC is informed directly that Vampires are becoming far more menacing in Skyrim, and that the DG are re-forming to stop them.

But RP is very subjective; just wanted to let people know that getting your crossbow early may save on some boot leather from revisiting areas.

Ahh, so basically, your Dovahkiin just isn't aware he/she is a Dovahkiin yet. I get it. So what were you doing in the instance of Word Walls?

I just wasn't getting close to word walls.  I got a lot of dungeons to go back into now   ^_^

Its complaining about nothing really.  Like I said I was RPing not knowing my characters true power because it didnt fit with my mentality.  At the end of the day though you are the Dragonborn and you will have to do the things you do.   Just like the Hero of Kvatch in Oblivion.

There are so many things out there that are worth complaining about. And that's not one of them.

Oh, wow, I can't even imagine. Surely everything will have respawned by the time you revisit them all.

Hey, do any of you guys know where I can reliably find a waterbreathing item to disenchant? I'm at level 42, and still haven't found anything yet. This girl wants to go swimming!

I looked on one of the wikis, but didn't find anything of use.

One of the Dragon Priest masks has that enchantment

I'd like something I can disenchant, so I can boost my Enchantment. And swim. I'll have to look up which mask has that. I must not have gotten it yet in this run.

Edit: It's Volsung. That will work for now, thanks!

If I haven't mentioned it lately, I love that Aetherial Crown. Except it's kinda dorky looking. I hope Dragonborn includes another item that can have two standing stones selected with it.

Your level 65 character can still die when blown off a mountain by a draugr murderboss deathking. #Arcwind Point

Two locations I can think of. A Circlet of Water breathing is on the head of one of the Frozen Falmer in the Inner Sanctum (before Auriels Chapel) during Dawnguard.

A second I found on a tucked away skeleton at Cradlecrush Rock Giant Camp.

That's absolutely true. Arcwind Point is a fantastic place to collect high-level souls, too.

Sounds like you need to meditate on Fus with Paarthurnax. Heh.

@Crash - oh, that's right! I actually have Touching the Sky active, so maybe I'll do that next. Well, maybe I'll see how it fits into my Dragonborn time. I'll probably focus on that first, since I can't get to that location quickly.

Or maybe I'll look at Cradlecrush Camp. I don't have that on my map yet. Edit: Oh! I know where that is.

Thank you!

Nah. Not yet. I ran around Raven Rock for quite a while talking to everyone I could see but nothing came up yet.

Perhaps you have to make your way through the main quest first, I'm not sure. Too early for people to know, I'd say.

I've got a bug in Dawnguard and I'm wondering if there is a workaround. Feran Sadri won't give me any side quests. At some point the game reported I had failed "Deceiving the Herd" (where you frame the Dawnguard for murder) when I killed some Dawnguard ambushers outside MArkarth, but I was never assigned this quest. In fact, I did not ask Sadri for a quest before this. Now only the "what do you have for sale" dialogue comes up.

I can live without doing just about all the side quests, but I do want to do "Destroying the Dawnguard" because I've never did it and I dont know the next time I'll play siding with the vamps. Is there a workaround to fire this quest up manually?

Absolutely loving this dlc. Easily the best piece of TES dlc. Each quest feels unique and it also helps that the land is jam packed full of lore.  The MQ is a tad short, but that is but a small part of this dlc.

An indication of how good this actually is, that were you to go onto the official forums, there's next to no ****ing. That's almost unheard of in this day and age for a day 1 release.

THIS i don't mind shelling out £20 for.

Volsung's Mask is one of the most useful masks in the game imo.  I always carry it in my inventory because 1. I really like to swim, and 2. it gives you 20% better barter, and +20 carry weight.

You probably already know it, but you can find it at Volskygge, the ruin far west of Solitude and South of Northwatch Keep...oh, btw IT will still be on Volsung's face until you liberate him of it. Image IPB

I have found a set of boots that allow me to walk on water. Yay! Just a pitty 99% of the water in Skyrim is knee deep.

The Skaal outfit is awesome looking.  Fits in with the whole Skyrim is Baltic thing.

I've been playing Dawnguard for a while now and let me say this: **** YOU SOUL CAIRN.

Really, words can't start to describe my frustration at this part of the DLC. I've been wandering around that place for ages and I always seem to lose track of the Soul Husk merchant and Jiub, whose pages I almost FINALLY have found back. The Soul Cairn has truly driven all replayability out of Dawnguard for me. I'm just still scouring the place because I'm a completionist and even though I probably get something crappy from Jiub, I know I will regret it later on if I leave the Cairn now. It would have been more helpful if there had been SOME more map markers instead of running around in circles. Now I understand that this place is all emo and 'you-can't-escape-herp-da-derp', but after about six hours, I can positively say that the Soul Cairn can go to hell.
