"HAHA WHY CHARGE ONLY 60 WHEN WE CAN CUT CONTENT OUT EARLY TO MAKE IT 80!"
Luckily Bethesda is not quite that greedy.
Also god damn its going to be a long time till the PC release date.
Until then I believe I will try and level up my Dunmer so he can visit his people on Solstheim.
Then probably hear them complain some more.
Complaining! The Dunmer national past time.

Sounds like they mingled some new voice talent among the usual suspects, too. Very cool DLC so far.

I like the Dunmer working on the Earth Stone Shrine when you arrive. They dont complain at all

I read an old interview with Pete Hines yesterday (the peons among us must content ourselves with such pasttimes) that made me think he is partly to thank for Bethesda's lack of crass. He explains that his philosophy is not to toot their own horn, to let the games speak for themselves, and to avoid cheesy marketing gimmicks. You don't have to look hard to see examples of the opposite in gaming PR.
On a side note, they are saying that Dishonored exceeded sales expectations and hinting that it's likely to become a franchise- good news!

^ I'm really, really good at being really redundant. Really. And hooray, thanks!
It boggles my mind that some -other- game companies are charging for something that should be an inherent part of story DLC. I never really cared about that much in the past, and was happy to pay for it, but now that I've experienced more fully how other game companies do it, that philosophy really grinds my gears.
For a well done story DLC I will agree, such as DG or as it appears; DB.
But must remember that this great DLC is $20, so at the difference in price, the indv DLC is somewhere twixt 2-4 seperate pieces; about the same cost.

After I reinstalled my Windows 7 and SKYRIM, the game crashes after the Main Menu shows up ... I tried reinstalling DX10, vcredist_x86 (pointless my system and win are x64) and Steam, but they don't solve the problem. Can anyone help me?

Now if only the Dunmer and Nords continue to get along and form an alliance against the Dominion, I will be as happy as TES can make me.

Maybe it's just the thought of bundling armor together with story that it's relevant to, that makes sense to me. The cost may shake out to be the same in the end, but Bethesda's way of presenting it feels more cohesive; more complete. It doesn't feel like an afterthought.Elhanan wrote...

And it's nice that they don't spill every little detail. There are lots and lots of surprises that are never promoted, but are discovered through play. That will win my heart over blatant PR, every time.
I mean...how many new locations and quests were there in Dawnguard that we never heard about beforehand? The Aetherium Wars was phenomenal, but I didn't know anything about it until I stumbled upon it. I love that! I'm still finding locations that I'm not sure were part of the vanilla game, or from Dawnguard.

But you play on X-Box, and get it first. As one of those playing on a PC, I have been sifting thru informative vids to glance at those new armors, watch Dragon Mounts in action, etc. And let us not forget the extant posts of so-called leaked info that already has seen fit to appear here and elsewhere.
Bethesda may not spill details because they know their fans will do it anyway!

I saw a lot of Dawnguard spoilers, but I never heard about the Aetherius Wars quest until I played it (and I only finished the whole thing on my 2nd run of DG).
Cheap monetization will always be evil. I would rather pay Bethesda's higher price knowing they will reliably give me more than I'm expecting, rather than continually be disappointed as I was, for instance, with everything Dragon Age-related after Awakening. We could surely cite many examples of Bioware marketing bloating expectations (Witch Hunt "all your questions will be answered", Hawke "rise to power, our most reactive game to date"). Not that they are the most egregious. Poor Square Enix yesterday had to pull their "take a hit out on your friends" social game after legal called and overruled the PR hacks.*
*oh, and this was for the game whose trailer had machine-gun toting nuns wearing bikinis under their habits

Supposedly you only get it at Level 81. Supposedly, I'm not sure.
We'll see. I am Level 81 and I haven't completed it yet, but we'd need more people tuning in to find out the truth.

The Ebony Warrior is a level 81 only quest.
Also he apparently hits like a freight train, is built like a tank, and easily a match for you.

Personally, I'd probably stink at using them. The new Nordic weapons more than make up for no spears, for sure. They're super cool-looking. Much better than Dragonbone, which I disliked.
@Giggles - seriously? A level 81 boss fight? That sounds awesome. I'm a looong way from that, though - this character is only at level 44. Very slow going, since I'm still just farting around Solstheim, checking out the local flora and fauna.

Personally, I wish almost all DLC was actual in-hand expansions like Awakenings; dislike downloads.

Hah, I avoided posting the name of the quest because I thought some might think it a spoiler.
But hey, if we've got more than one saying its purely for the Level 81's, I guess thats it.

So what is the appeal with spears, anyway? Were they in a previous TES?

Yeah, you'll be at it forever unless the Oghma Infinium exploit still works.
