So are there spears? And are they 2 handed only? Or can I use 'em with a shield?
No spears. "Spears" are these little things Rieklings throw at you. If you pick them up, you can fire them as a new type of arrow.

^ I knew there was another reason I like you.I mentioned Halberds earlier on this page - in any game where I can use a Halberd, I always do. White Knight Chronicles comes to mind, actually. And a couple of others I can picture, but can't place. Arrgh.
Well, that's cool. I can appreciate diversity in weaponry, and it makes sense to be true to the character you're playing's persona. I just don't personally have any experience with spears, IRL, or in games, so I wasn't sure what the draw was.

But must remember that this great DLC is $20, so at the difference in price, the indv DLC is somewhere twixt 2-4 seperate pieces; about the same cost.

Yep, This is precisely my gaming philosphy to a T. And you can't imagine how much heat you'll take here by arguing that weapon-types matter for roleplaying, to a forum full of people who's only concern is whether X is romanceable, or whether male characters will have chest hair LOLJoy Divison wrote...

So what is the appeal with spears, anyway? Were they in a previous TES?
Speaking just for myself, the weapon my character wields is as much a defining characteristic as her personality, ambitions, face, etc. I don't just use whatever; it has to have a certain style, feel and look.

Bioware's most meaty DLC (length and content-wise) is Legacy. By even the slowest, most thorough playthrus, it gives you about 4-5 hours of playtime.... at a cost of 10 dollars. Dawnguard is double that price, but easily offers 5 times the content.
Not comparable, so here's a better example. Dragon Age: Awakening, A full blown Bioware expansion pack for DA:O. It was much larger than your standard Dragon age DLC, but it cost $40 ie. TWICE the cost of Dawnguard, yet still smaller.

Leliana Song + Warden's Keep + Return to Ostagar + Stone Prisoner + Witchhunt + Feast Day Pack = $38 (?), and it's still about 1/3 the size and content of Dawnguard ($20)
But to be fair, It's hard to quantify these things. How does one measure content, exactly? I for one, do NOT place more weight on fancy cinematic cutscenes and dramatic chatty dialogue than I do on More questing, more character skills, more exploration, fresh new dungeons and new massive landscapes. By comparison, Witch hunt gave me practically zero new content, as there's essentially no new areas to explore, and no new abilities to gain. All it offers is half a story and a couple of really talkative NPCs to hang out with for an hour or so.
