I have such ideas too. My Stormcloak would open the College of Winterhold up, for instance, and use it to train battlemages and new thu'um masters. That is really Skyrim's best hope IMO, to return to the shaman warrior tradition of their ancestors- the Atmoran way, without the dragon cult.
I'd open it up myself as well, but I'd also get in talks with Ulfric and try to convince him that there are other things that would help our war effort.
For instance, he doesn't seem to be as prejudiced against Elves as one might think. Oh he certainly distrusts them in general, but that's due to soured experience with the Aldmerri Dominion -- whom if I recall, aren't just High Elves. Most of the Aldmerri Dominion are High Elves, but don't they also have Wood Elves and Dark Elves in their fold?
Anyway, whether they do or not Auron Crowley would convince Ulfric to make use of the trustworthy Altmer, the Bosmer, Dunmer, and Khajit as spies and assassins in Skyrim's own network. If the Thalmor have their own spies in the other nations, why shouldn't Skyrim? The Khajit would be assassins only, since it'd be hard for Cat-Folk to spy on an Elven empire. But since they're able to see at night easier then most folks -- along with their claws -- well... it's obvious why Khajit would make some of the best assassins.
Elves however, would be much more able to spy on the Thalmor and tell us about their plans. And they'd make great assassins as well. I'd also recruit the Bosmer and Dunmer into the army.
I'd also have Argonians sailing Skyrim's ships under flags that aren't Skyrim's, preying on Thalmor ships. Plausible deniability would have Skyrim able to denounce these Argonians as simple pirates who stole some of Skyrim's ships. Add in the Argonians' ability to breathe in water and the Thalmor ships wouldn't know what hit them.
Then, I'd work on convincing Ulfric to put smarter Jarls on some thrones that still hold Skyrim's interests at heart. Because damn... Skald the Elder is the absolute worst Jarl for Dawnstar. His ****ing housecarl Jod would be leagues better then he is.
Finally, I'd attempt to have him enter into an alliance with the Empire whilst still maintaining sovereignty. Since the Thalmor are the common enemy between the two, they would be fools to at least not pledge themselves to fighting said common enemy if it came down to it -- though Skyrim need not be a part of the Empire upon entering this alliance.
I'd also bring up the idea of Skyrim returning to the Empire if, by luck, I were to be named Emperor. As possibly the last Dragonborn and according to other people a "true son of Skyrim", Ulfric might consider the idea provided Skyrim never had instances like more false kings down the line.
That's not even taking into account how I'd make use of the Dark Brotherhood, Thieves' Guild, and the Companions.
Hmm.... I think I'll go finish up Skyrim so I can know when to make all of this happen. Before or after Alduin's defeat.
THESE ARE ALL TRADEMARKED IDEAS OF TEWR, ALL YOU HOOLIGANS!

What is the vampire bug?
You become a vampire that can't be cured despite not dealing with vampires at all. Usually after being shouted at by a Draugr Deathlord, but I could swear I once got it from a dragon.
Good thing I'm a Werewolf already then.

I mean I kept redoing a bandit cave a half dozen times and I still kept coming up with new ways to kill em all.
Late game the Dragonborn is basically a one man (Or woman spec ops team)
Ah well not like I dont enjoy finding various amusing ways of knocking off bandits.

Does anyone else find it kind of well silly just how many ways they have to fight foes at high level?
Eh, I've always killed bandits the same way lately. They don't really pose a threat and while new ways might garner a laugh or two, ultimately every encounter is just... meh.

I cant enchant it at an enchanting alter though, so im assuming its quest related (although its not marked as a quest item). I hope its as good as it sounds and I can finally make a decent staff!
Although not having it visible on your back still annoys me to the point I wont even use it... Biggest oversight ever!

Go to Tel Mithryn. After you do some quests you can enchant staffs.

That's a point. Of course, there are those 200 potions that are perfectly sorted out such that the DB can instantly grab and consume the Draught of Lightfoot whenever she needs to...

Oddly enough, there is a pinch of reality to the potion section of your inventory. I don't know about you, but whenever I'm carrying around a ton of potions, it takes me a relatively long time to sift through the huge list and pick out the one I'm looking for.Joy Divison wrote...

Also, Bethesda decided to use the different synonyms of the word "potion", apparently for no reason but to ruin the alphabetical structure of your potion list. For instance, If you need to reach into your inventory to find a fire resistance consumable you'll see "Draught of Fire resistance" near the top, then some other potions, then "Elixer of Fire resistance" below that, then... waaay further down, you've got "Philter of fire resistance" and then "Potion of fire resistance". This annoys me to no end. I wish they'd be grouped together according to effect, and then alphebetized..

So is Dragonborn officially the "Shivering Isles" of Skyrim? I certainly believe so, in terms of new content and giving us a whole new area to explore.
I guess you could call it that, although Dragonborn won't (supposedly) be the largest DLC for Skyrim so I am unsure.
For anyone who has killed Miraak already, did you catch what he says while fighting? I thought I heard something about Alduin and Harkon but I don't know.

I fired up my Altmer mage again (to test out a mod to marry Nelacar- alas he still resists her *sob*) and was happy that all her stuff was still in the archmage quarters, since I had in the meantime loaded the Better Winterhold mod. It makes the quarters much more useful.
