What the heck. I'm running around Whiterun and get up by the Companion's hall and notice a red dot on the HUD indicating an enemy by there. So I run to the back to see whats up. Vilkas is going nuts trying to kill Ria, so I step in to kill Vilkas. I reload to see what happens again. Go into the hall this time with Mjoll but don't see Vilkas anywhere. Then I see some of the companions yell "Its a fight!" and I see Mjoll and Vilkas fighting it out, with Mjoll eventually killing Vilkas.

Bizarre.

@TEWR: the dragonblood is a divine gift given to mortals by Akatosh*according to Skyrim* not a genetic mutation

Wasn't the Septim line composed of Dragonborns, up until Martin Septim's sacrifice?

Technically, they weren't, since the last Septims aren't descended down from Tiber Septim (who was declared to be Dragonborn when he was Hjalti Early-Beard by the Greybeards). The Septim rulers descended from Tiber Septim's brother Agnorith, but that bloodline perished with the demise of Pelagius I, with all the subsequent rulers since Kintyra simply taking on the name 'Septim.' Martin and his father weren't descended from the last known Dragonborn, and they were only Septims in name.

It's easy to think otherwise because of what Grandmaster Jauffre and the other Blades say in Oblivion about the Septims being Dragonborn and the Amulet of Kings, but their dialogue is misleading; the Blades were incorrect to state that the Amulet of Kings can only be worn by those who are 'Dragonborn.' The idea that the Septims are Dragonborn is ceremonial, since the Amulet of Kings can be worn by anyone with 'royal blood' (as opposed to those who are Dragonborn), as we see with Mankar Camoran wearing it before he goes to Paradise (which makes sense, as he's the royal son of Camoran Usurper), and the Remans wore the amulet generations before Tiber Septim even found it.

In contrast, the protagonist of Skyrim is a genuine Dragonborn who can use the Voice.

Well technically they are still dragonborn.  According to the Book of the Dragonborn, it's a misnomer to think that term is something genetic.  It's a gift of the gods.  So the Septim emperors had to all be dragonborn or they wouldn't have been able to light the dragonfires.  Also there were dragonborn before Tiber Septim's time or the Akaviri wouldn't have been looking for one.  It's a sort of "you'll know one when you see one" thing.

The concept has gotten a bit muddled because in TESV the sign of the dragonborn is an innate thu'um which wasn't the case for the emperors.  That almost makes the Nord concept an entirely different thing than the imperial one.  Hence the book basically says "we don't know what it means."

lol funny!  Once I took Lydia into Dragonsreach and everyone turned hostile.  Then there's Serana and Shadowmere never getting along.

Lol. That has happened to me with a few followers. I always assumed it was friendly fire that turned into a "Oh,no you didn't!" moment.

Yeah, Serana seems to hate every single animal follower I bring with me. Poor Meeko.

It happens to me as well. I have UFO installed and have had "incidents" if travelling with 3 or more companions.  It usually happens after a large engagement.  I've set all follower settings to peaceful with other companions, but it still creeps in every so often if they take a little friendly fire from one another.  There also just seems to be a little underlying bitterness between my mage and melee companions...they just don't seem very fond of one another.  There was one follower that was particularly troublesome, always fighting, always starting $#!+...and consequently always getting her butt kicked.  I had to let her go.

I usually just watch the spectacle to see who actually is more badassPosted Image...and then reload, since all are also set to essential, and will absolutely fight forever if you leave it up to them.

Who else gets emotionally attached to their gear?

When a Dragur used Disarm ...I spent about 15 minutes looking for my sword.
Odd how something can get so meaningful to me.

Ah, I hate it when they do that.

And yes, I get very attached to my gear. I sometimes keep outdated gear around just because I've used it for a long time and it'd be a "shame" to throw it away.

I've used the Calm spell more than once to get followers and NPCs to stop slaughtering each other.

Of course. I've used the same gear for hundreds of hours, I don't want to lose it.

Only got disarmed in the fight against the Ebony Warrior.

Especially, if it's a one of a kind weapon **cough** **cough**Dawnbreaker**cough** and is usually something I always equip in Draugr crypts anyway.  Good thing it glows as bright as it does. It's an item I'm pretty attached to and is just one of those things I don't want to be without. I would seriously consider starting a new playthrough if I'd lost it.  I know, I know, it's crazy to put such investment in a low DAM weapon, but, oh, the effect!

EDIT: @Addai, I'll try that. Hadn't even considered it. It would solve a consistently recurring problem in my game, and keep me from reloading from (sometimes) very distant saves.

You could always go back to an earlier save.

Some of the comments made when using the Calm spell make me feel dirty.

Go on try it on some people and watch what happens.
Especially the old ladies in Whiterun.

I felt the need to shower after that.

Speaking of the Ebony Warrior: is he a boss you can only find/fight when you're level 81, or you can fight him at any time, it's just he is leveled to 81 and will most likely kick the crap out of you if you aren't a high level?

Only shows up if you are level 80 or 81.
Also kicks your ass at those levels too.

Yeah, he only shows up at Level 81(or close to it).

He still whoops you, even then. I can only imagine how long it would take to kill him at Level 1.

/400 hours

I had something similar happen. On my Nord save, I went out to talk to Esbern out on the cliffside overlook -- beautiful view -- and he was telling Delphine about this dream he was having. I'm trying to listen to it, but I also see in the background that Mjoll and... one of the Khajit bodyguards are duking it out.

At first, I thought they were just training since they're Blades. Then I turn around and see Mjoll kill the Khajit guy. I was pretty pissed off at that, because it was just the most bizarre piece of crap occurrence to happen to me in that save file. So I had to reload my save and lose a fair bit of completed content.

Either the Khajit really pissed off Mjoll or that's one hell of a bug.

I still recall the time I dropped a diamond in Riften.
A diamond that left over 6 people dead.

Most killed by Mjoll.
Riften's protector my pasty Canadian ass.

I personally am very attracted to the fact that virtually every dungeon or Dwemer ruin you enter has its own story to tell...that is, of course if one is actually paying attention.

Well, I love the fact that pretty much EVRY ruin/tomb/even cave has it's own story or at least background in Skyrim.
Really adds tons of atmosphere to the game.

Yes, I find that a lot better than the millions of mundane caves in Oblivion that had no relevance what so ever to anything.

Also, I'm about to attempt the Ebony Warrior? Any suggestions for heavy armour and melee weapons?

In the words of my friend who did that fight:

"Put your head between your knees and kiss your bum goodbye"
Also dont forget you can potion chug when on the ground.

When I watched the fight he seems to not shout when in melee that much.
Also dont edge near the cliff because then he shouts you off.

Still took my friend a few reloads.

What do you have to do to fight him? Sounds cool.
