Huzzah, it's done. One try on Expert and I got him. I used the Deathbrand set, Chillrend, a Stalhrim sword, Nightingale Strife, Dragon Aspect and Unrelenting Force. I got shouted off the cliff but I survived with little damage luckily.

What do you have to do to fight him? Sounds cool.

Some of the comments made when using the Calm spell make me feel dirty.

Go on try it on some people and watch what happens.
Especially the old ladies in Whiterun.

I felt the need to shower after that.

What did they say? Giggles, did you get hit on by blue hairs? Posted Image

 Since

1) Grelod makes noise no matter what
2) The kids never recognize you as the killer
3) Constance always panics

You know someone is really evil when you decaptate them in front of little kids, and instead of being horrified they start cheering.

Anyway, Happy_dais, can you tell me what happens during the Thalmor quest in dragonborn? I heard you guys talking about it but I couldn't find any article or video about it.

That's debatable.  We as a species have spent the vast majority of our time in recorded history cheering (and aquiescing if not actually taking part) at public executions rather than being revolted by them.

Our cultural perceptions at present deem it evil, it is not inherently evil per se.

Plus, from the point of view of these kids, She's the devil. Why wouldn't they be cheering her brutal death?

Also,  is  a decapitation  being cheered on by kids the only sociologically  odd thing  you've noticed  about that quest?

How about the fact that we've got a 10 year old escaping an orphanage, then   traveling to a distant city and  somehow managing to get his own 2 story home.... and then performing a borderline necromantic ritual to summon a hit squad to assassinate an authority figure?   And succeeding....

lol

^ I always assumed that was the house he lived in with his mother...but how in the heck did he get to Windhelm with no cash? Did a carriage driver take pity on him?

And how strange is it that once you own a home in one of the cities, that you don't lose it unless you die? Like with Hjerim, it suddenly goes up for sale after you clear Blood on the Ice and choose/complete a civil war side. You could assume that the Shatter-Shields sold it back to the city, but it isn't mentioned. So what about Breezehome? Proudspire? Honeyside? Who died so you could live there?

And if that is the case, why doesn't the Aretino residence go up for sale (not that you'd want that tiny little place)? Or Calixto's shop?

I think about the weirdest things. Posted Image

I wouldn't mind purchasing  the Aretino residence as maybe a cheap "starter" house. Overall I dislike the way Windhelm is set up, but at least the Aretino house is close to the city gates, which would make it a decent home base.

Well, he did say he was awfully sweaty, which I'd buy. Maybe his stink kept the critters away. Hehe.

He must have some seriously high stamina. Mmpf.

You know I really wonder why some people even bother getting up in the morning.

This bandit and his pals attacks my house.
Only to get Lydia (wife) to come out and kill all three of them.

Imagine growing up in a house where both your parents can kick that much ass.

Yeah, I'm always very proud of my hubs, Sondas, when he whips out his knife, and starts attacking dragons, bandits, vampires, etc. It's especially hectic when they all hit us at once. Between Lydia, Rayya, J'Zargo, Sondas, and my Dovahkiin, it's pure chaos. Limbs everywhere.

While my Dovahkiin sleeps warm and comfortable with Ysolda in Solitude while our daughter Runa practices with her dagger.

D'aww.

Taking the safe route, eh, prince? You've got a whole city full of guards to protect you there.

And no cow to worry about...

You've convinced me. I should buy Proudspire. Maybe Jordis would like to hang out sometime. Posted Image

I personally am very attracted to the fact that virtually every dungeon or Dwemer ruin you enter has its own story to tell...that is, of course if one is actually paying attention.

Well, I love the fact that pretty much EVRY ruin/tomb/even cave has it's own story or at least background in Skyrim.
Really adds tons of atmosphere to the game.

Yep.  You are most certainly correct.  I was merely understating the fantastic story elements of the game, that are to be found in exploration, reading books, not to mention in the intersection of numerous quests/locations (Dead Men's Respite and 'Olaf One Eye' comes immediately to mind).

But, then again, we're constantly reminded by the "elites" of the gaming world, (you know, those who apparently know infinitely more than we mere peasants), that Bethesda doesn't do good story.  What a crock of $#!+!

GopherVids crack me up, and his narration is vastly more appealing than many others that I am somewhat addicted. Plus he is a Techie, and includes mods that let me know if I want them or not in my game.

Can anyone confirm for me if the random encounter with the two Alik'r warriors and the random woman still occurs after 'In my time of need' has been completed? I'm going to side with Kematu this time, but I also want one of those nice scimitars, without using the console. Does anyone know if this random encounter does still occur afterwards? ES wiki says no, but UESP says yes. (I'm on PC btw)

I don't think they do. You can get a scimitar from a small shipwreck on the northern coasts, near Dawnstar.

damn... well does anybody know if it is possible, using the console, to trigger, or 'spawn' a particular random encounter, because I've been running around for ages hoping that this random encounter will occur, but they just won't show up, instead I've met Talsgar the bard about 4 times. (I have not yet completed the quest.)
