Am preparing my Orc DB for the new DLC; will finish the Dawnguard storyline before possibly conquering Enchanting and other like misc skills.

Huzzah! Finally was able to load some mods from the Nexus in addition to my Steam Workshop mods! Those armor textures have saved me from scrapping my latest light armored Bosmer; gives the Elven set a dark Thalmor look for stealth purposes.

So my Orc just recently joined the College of Winterhold. He's not really a fan of Ancano -- like anyone is -- so he wanted to try a little experiment.

This experiment necessitated a live test subject, so Ancano was perfect for that bill.

Well, he's now casting Destruction spells at him. Lo and behold, he doesn't try to fight back nor does anyone rise to his defense.

So now I'm putting him through a terrible torture session where I'm burning/shocking/freezing him and healing him.

Hearthfire is not an EXPANSION. It was originally supposed to be added with dawnguard.

But let's just wait and see. Time will tell.

I'm crossing my fingers for dragonborn to be released on the 1st...but that seems like a pipe dream.

Nevertheless Hearthfire had Xbox exclusivity for 30 days.  So while no one really knows except Bethesda Prime and Micro$oft, it's not a hopeful sign.

I have to admit, I'm a bit frustrated, is bethesda really going to leave the war with the thalmor for the next game? I can't years for that to happen. C'mon, an DLC can be made, it needs to! And speaking of Thalmor, I find a bit weird how some of their warriors are so powerful. I mean, They make amazing mages, no doubt, but shouldn't they a bit squishier in melee combat? I remember going to rescue that guy in missing in action with an mid level character, and god, those thalmor soldier totally kicked my ass. It feels a bit out of place...

A lot of people think the next game will deal with it since the places we haven't been yet are mostly Dominion controlled areas.  Or, it could be decided in the interim and TES VI will be about an invasion from Akavir.

Ahhh. Indeed. One of the best things. Looooooooot. :)

I keep everything nice and neat, though. Loot catagorized and stored cleanly and efficiently.

Yeah, I seriously need to stash some loot before Dragonborn. In my current game, I only have Breezehome. At level 41. Completely skipped all the homebuilding and buying.

Indeed she is, but let's just say she had a bad experience with cold weather and frost things...

Unfortunately the "mod" dragon eat her at level 40 while I was trying to uninstall some mods which are incompatible with Hearthfire DLC...

But I was having a lot of fun with the game and enjoying the main quests so far... time to create another imperial wuss girl I suppose! :D

My Tribunal mage still has Ancano in a Black Soul Gem, with his lackey, Estormo, in another Black Soul Gem. No Aetherius or World-Shaping for them.

Estormo and his ego fit in a single soul gem? I was rather surprised when I onehitted him after his bombastic entrance

I have a questing for you folk who have dawnguard. How bad are these random vampire attacks inside towns? Do NPCs get killed often? And there is any way to stop them for good? I already hate NPCs getting killed by random dragons. I don't need that added by dawnguard.

Depends on whether you've actually started the main Dawnguard quests.

If you have, they can get pretty bad.  Because they're far more frequent inside the cities, and the master vampire/Traveler who leads these encounters  is   more powerful  (I've seen him engage town guards in melee and utterly destroy them, decapitation and all)

If you haven't started the main Dawnguard quests, they're not bad at all.  They'll  start happening on rare occasions once you hit about 6-8th level.  And the vampire/thralls aren't very powerful.  Most townspeople can usually take them out without your help.

In both cases though, they only happen at night, so with a little creative planning, you can make it so that they never happen  (simply don't make it a habit to do business on the city streets after midnight).  As for how to make them stop:  Finish Dawnguard.

Oh, so finishing the dawnguard questline will stop the attacks for good? Even if you side with the dawnguard?

On Master difficulty, I thought that the vampire attacks were pretty rough, especially when you're only level 8 or so. The first time that I played Dawnguard with a new character, they took out Adrianne and Belethor, largely because my attacks at that level just weren't doing enough damage to them in time. Note that this was me entering Whiterun during the morning (around 9-10am); I thought that I would be safe entering during the day, but my advice, once you're level 8 or so, be ready for a vampire attack at any time (so save often).

If you travel to a city during the night, sometimes a vampire or thrall will lean against a wall, making them difficult to see, so when you do visit a town at night, sometimes it helps to hit the wait button to see whether there are enemies nearby.

But yes, the vampire attacks seem to stop after finishing the Dawnguard main quest, although they still occur as random encounters out in the wild (i.e., not within the cities), at least in my case. I'm currently playing through the vampire side for the first time and had no idea that the Dawnguard start to randomly attack me; is it similar to the Dawnguard side in that they stop attacking once I finish the main quest, or do they continue for the rest of the game?

Well, I suppose the sensible thing to do then, it's to uninstall dawnguard when starting a new character, and reinstall later when you feel like doing their quest, unless you want to reload the save all the time when an NPC gets killed by an vampire.

I don't think it's worth uninstalling DG over.  But once you choose your side, be prepared to either finish the questline or deal with the increased attacks.

My vampire has been done with the DLC for quite some time.  No DG attacks.
