Its not just because its shallow and pointless its because it cant hold your interest.
I just use the house for more storage.
That is it.
They should have gone animal crossing or something. As it stands I dont do anything but drop off some loot and check in with the wife. Ah well at least Dawnguard and Dragonborn are better.

Their function in the first place has *always* been to protect their kingdom's leadership. Even back when they were the Dragonguard.Arcane Warrior Mage Hawke wrote...

I've enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, but I keep up the annoying task of decorating my house, despite stuff wandering. Reminds me of Oblivion in that way- I spent hours on my Oblivion houses. For a 5 buck add-on, it's got a lot to it.Giggles_Manically wrote...

The story now is that the Blades were originally Akaviri dragon hunters. They protected dragonborn which is understandable since only a DB can absorb dragon souls. They only became bodyguards when the Septim emperors ended up all being dragonborn. But I wouldn't protect Mede, either, since he basically sold their order to the Thalmor.Yrkoon wrote...

Ulfric refuses to attack Solitude if the emperor is there because he says he doesn't want to overly antagonize Cyrodiil. So I would suppose it's the same story if the Stormcloaks have won- there's no indication Mede ever gets off his ship anyway, right?Shadow Wrought wrote...
A random thought just occurred to me... What happens to the Dark Brotherhood questline if you finish the civil war in Ulfrics favor? Dont a good chunk of the quests take place in an imperial solitude? I dont see Ulfric allowing the Emperor to visit (even if it is just a fake).
Then again maybe im wrong. I havn't dont the DB questline in over a year and my new character just reached it
It does tick me off that the Penitus Oculatus remain in Dragonbridge. I have Ulfric as follower for one character and he even attacks you if you kill them.

I hope the next game has much more balanced crafting. I know I can just skip it, but if I skip it entirely it takes ages to kill things.

There's so much that seems to be a step back from that game, diguises, skills and attributes opening up options(and uh, attributes themselves), hardcore mode. In fact, as majestic as Skyrim is, looking purely at features, is there ANYTHING new, besides finishing blows (VATS basically) and bioshock magic? You can't even fight in water anymore!happy_daiz wrote...
^ Oh, so like you'd come back later and notice an NPC isn't around, and might find their dead body laying behind a house or something (if they're a beggar)? Or you could find their skeleton propped up in a chair at the table like a Draugr? That would add a certain something, wouldn't it? Heh.
A faction rating could be kinda cool, if you could sort out how it would actually work. I liked how FO:NV did it, personally.

End of the day, it's all subjective.SpunkyMonkey wrote...
I agree with a lot of his points - maybe not in the same way, but I did feel very let down by Skyrim. I'd be interested to hear your positive view on your experience with it and the flipside of that coin.
Especially videogames because the player is a significant part of the game.
Hence, every review (or similar) is subjective, open to disagreement.
Everyone has different likes, different priorities and thus different opinions. The author of that piece is particularly arrogant and rude in objecting to reviewers having different tastes and priorities than him.
Personally, I think Grand theft Auto: Vice City is one of the worst games I've had the misfortune to try to play due to it's nonsensical missions, bland driving and awkward shooting but some people praise it as if it was one of the best games ever.
While some of his criticisms have some validity, he is placing many unrealistic demands expecting a level of perfection that no game features. And some of his demands are debatable - would it really better for the character to be a passive witness to events going on around him rather than the instigater or catalyst bringing about change?
Yeah, I'm just a little bemused at how people seem so desperate for everyone to love games such as Skyrim. I think the main reason being that it's an attitude which encourages developers to release buggy, lackluster games with the excuse that they are "Vanilla" - when in reality that's just them being lazy and often forgetting to include a game itself on top of the pretty engine and foundation.
Funnily enough Vice City is a game which I've just retirned to playing myself. The shooting and sandbox mechanics are very dated and poor, but I still love the driving feel (unrealistic? yes.....but fun!) and the games atmosphere is just amazing. That soundtrack and whole neon-80's vibe is just pure magic and, for me, what the entire game is about. It's also got some really fun missions and OTT action.
I guess in both games cases the asthetics play a big part in their appeal, but I had a lot more fun with Vice Cities gameplay than I did Skyrim's.

Not a big deal, really, but I was happy and surprised to see him pop up where he hadn't previously (my first Dragonborn run was with a character who hadn't read the OI). More subservient dialogue options were added, as well.
I also tried out Frea as a follower. I felt a little sad escorting Jenassa home, but Frea...wow, I really like her. Especially if you take her to retrieve the Black Book with Neloth. She had quite a few comments about the Dwemer and whatnot while we were in Nchardak.
The only bummer is that she ran off right after I read the Black Book. I have no idea what she said, though, upon departing, because Neloth was talking over her. Hmmpf.
She said later that she needed to stay with her people. I'm hoping after the MQ, I can pick her up again. As for now, I'm follower-less.

They're labeled as light armor...well, the Cultist Robes, at least. I wonder why you can improve the boots, gloves, (and mask as heavy armor), but not the armor itself?
I'm not sure about the Telvanni robes - that's next on my list, but since it's clothing, technically, it would stand to reason that you can't do squat with them.
I suppose I should try being a real mage, and use mage armor.

Dunmer Outfit

According to the uesp wiki, all of that stuff is just considered 'clothing'.

I might just say screw it, and wear a full set of Skaal armor. Heh. I'm just soooo tired of the Royal Vampire Armor on this character. I guess it doesn't make sense to keep wearing that, as I had Falion remove her vampirism recently.
It's nice to see some color in her cheeks again.
