Wait... why are they called "Serpentine" Dragons? Do they look different than the standard Skyrim dragons?

If so... Pics please!

Yeah, they look completely different. They're scale-less, and kind of a bluish color, and their head resembles that of a snake. I've been trying to find a decent image for a while now. The wikis aren't much help in that area.

Here's a really crappy video of Sahrotaar, a named Serpentine Dragon, that you ride during the endgame of the MQ. There's not enough in the video to be much of a spoiler, but it does show a tiny bit of Apocrypha.

Oh! I just realized that there's a new marriageable male Nord in Dragonborn. His name is Halbarn Iron-Fur (Thirsk Mead Hall).

There are also two new marriageable Nord females:

Hilund (Thirsk Mead Hall)
Morwen (Skaal Village)

Dern it, all of my high-level characters are already married. Guess I should start creating unattached character, #18. Maybe another Redguard, in honor of this morning's new DLC speculation/musings. Posted Image

Damn.

I really need Dragonborn, Skyrim kind of gets stale when you have been through everything in it.
Dont get me wrong, I love the game to pieces....I just need new content.

I feel ya giggles. I am so obsessed with dragonborn, not sure why. I was not obsessed with dawnguard, I mean when it dropped, I was surprised, but with dragonborn, I am keeping my ear to the ground for it.

Probably because my first ever elderscrolls game was morrowind.

If one is playing the PC version, there are some mods available which can really augment and add content to the game. I am not too familiar with the ones that add conyent, but can recommend the Immersive Armors and aMidianborn Book of Silence mods; probably Immersive Weapons, too. Just getting some fresh looks for some of my DB's has helped me remain an actve player.

And for the holidays, I have added SkyUI; the large font version! The newest version is now available which supports MCM for modders (ie; allows menu controls to be done from UI instead of IG items, I believe). All the options of a praised mod, plus this Ancient One can now read it, too!

A question for PC players: do you know if you can use the keyboard and the controller simultaneously, vanilla or from mods? I prefer using a controller to play Skyrim but I'd like to retain the use of the console for bug fixing.

So Dragonborn is now +1 day from when I hoped it would get released.

Ugh.
Well probably should do something...like finish Bastion I guess.
Good game too.

I feel your pain Giggles. Every time I see Pete Hines tweeting about sports I want to be "that guy" and yell at him about Dragonborn.

I need to finish Thief II.  I've been stuck on one level since before Dishonored came out.

^ Speaking of bears, has anyone else ever encountered up to 3 or 4 bears chasing a fox near the slope that leads to the shrine of Zenithar outside of Riften?

I believe I have seen this nearby den, though it often has spiders instead of bears. Now I try and give the location a wide berth, as the spawns are higher than my Kyne's Peace Shout can handle due to an Enhanced Play mod.

^ I didn't realize for the longest time that you could take a little shortcut to get to Fort Dawnguard (for the first time) by simply going out Riften's front gates, and taking a hard right, and doing a little cross-country. For some reason, I kept taking the main road (past the guard towers), getting overwhelmed by bear, running back to get saved by the guards, rinse and repeat, then taking the fork in the road to head south. Total facepalm.

Sad but true. I really wish the end-game was more challenging, especially Dragons. :(

At low levels i'd usually go there because it's the easiest Zenithar shrine to travel to, but the bears are bruisers. 1 bear is annoying on max difficulty but simultaneously fighting 3 bears was crazy, and sometimes there's a straggler too.

@happy_daiz - I thought about doing that, but sadly out of habit i still take the main road.

I find it easiest to get to the DG by going through Riften's South Gate (the one by the Jarl's Palace) and going westish once you get by the Shadow Stone. Bears (and even more dangerous sabre cats) are very dangerous at low levels and high difficulty, but a well timed "FUS" and Lydia will get you safely there

Of course, if you have mods installed, that route may not be the easiest...

^ Good grief! I play on Adept (cannot see any reason to artificially increase Difficulty by halving my dmg, and doubling opponent's), and two modded Frost Dragons appearing were more than I could handle alone. I had to run rather cowardly to the Windhelm stables and get help from the guards, and some cover to bring one down, and the othjer retreated.

Without mods, Kyne's Peace Shout is a must for me at higher lvls for exploration, depending on the character. Guess there is something to the old phrase, "Trouble is bruin".....

Dont feel bad! Bears, sabre cats, and trolls kick my ass in a straight up fight until level 20 or so. I only defeat them by "convincing" them to attack something else and then unloading uninterrupted DPS into them.

While in general I agree that dragons aren't as terrifying as they ought to be, this is mostly due to two reasons: they don't scale as well as they should and fire/cold resistance is too easy to come by. Nevertheless when you face properly scaled dragon (i.e. an elder at level 30, not a generic dragon) and don't have much resistance, they are fearsome and will one-shot you by breath or teeth. Two frosts without a follower is going to be quite the challenge for a non-Nord under 30 not decked out in optimized gear.

I've kind of abandoned playing characters with resistances as of late. It IS too easy to block all dragon damage, if you're stacking a racial ability with enchanted gear. Basically what that means for me is that I've been playing my kitties. I don't usually bother with the brawl quests, or go unarmed, so they might as well not have an inborn ability. Sometimes those things just seem like too much of a crutch.

...Although after last week's speculation on the next DLC, I did create another Redguard character. Posted Image

Mods for Dragons really has helped improve my game; am now as scared of them as my first playthrough. And Deadly Dragons is so well designed that one may select how they wish to improve them, and I have only added a little more armor and resistance, plus they get spells. This plus a few other mods has made exploration a challenge for all of my characters, and still avoid frustration as a rule.

Personally, I prefer to buff the oppents rather than nerf my own characters; really dislike penalties, esp when they are artificial (eg; realistic mods). For me, Skyrim Vanialla is so well done that I want to augment and enhance what is already there; not replace it.

And I have also finished getting one DB for every race, except an Imperial; noticed they will not be available in ESO, either. While Redguards may not have the best bonuses, they certainly have some terrific looking gear.

I usually try to play a race that is atypical for its role.  Nord wizards, Altmer warriors, Imperial thieves, etc.  I think they make more interesting characters to role-play and give a more satisfying feeling of accomplishment when you kick ass :wizard:
