I never played the Elder Scrolls games for their mechanics. Frankly I've always found those awful, and although I think Skyrim is leaps and bounds beyond Oblivion (the low point in the series for me), it's still not without its flaws. Balancing is way off, crafting is too good, combat isn't quite dynamic enough, and so on and so forth.
However, I do think Skyrim is an awesome game because of the world and the exploration, which is why I have played it for hundreds of hours. I also think it's a very positive thing that the mechanics have improved. It gives me a lot of hope for future titles.
Some people seem to think you can't have a game if it's just a sandbox world with exploration, and I've heard claims that something like Morrowind or Skyrim is hardly even a game because you can't "win" it and it doesn't tell you what to do or pressure you to follow a specific storyline. I have always thought this was complete and utter nonsense. I also don't think it makes it a worse game. That's just what it's about, and it's too bad if some people aren't able to enjoy that.
Yet for me, it is quite different. This is my first sandbox game actully played (have MW somewhere; never played), and while I do enjoy the exploration, I am quite a story-driven Player. And while all the integrated tales are not always the best, the sheer number of them found in every cave, dungeon, ruin, cabin, etc in this 16 sq mile scenic wonderland is nothing short of amazing to me.
And I adore the mechanics as a general rule. While not a fan of 1st person melee, the 3rd person view is quite good, and the Killcams are incredible. Archery is terrific; maybe the best I have played. While I cannot see me being very good in any kind of m/p setting with this, in solo I do fairly well.
I have thought of installing an Uncapper mod; one that allows you to gain experience from Skills already at max. That said, the Toolkit, community, and company approval of both makes such things quite possible.
It's all good, as some say....
Morrowind was mind-blowingly good for it's time. I still much prefer it to Skyrim because of the atmosphere, depth, game-world and story. If they remade Morrowind with better a combat and leveling system it'd be a killer game.

Some are working on it; called SkyWind. My problem is that Bethesda has not apparently given their blessing on it AFAIK. Until then, I am waiting in the DLC's.

^aren't the ones for Hearthfire glitched on Steam? Mine only show up on the list after I've unlocked them.
Some of Hearthfire's achievements are hidden until unlocked, according to the wiki.

I heard that they did. They pulled the plug on the Requiem for a Capital Wasteland mod because it basically allowed you to play Fallout 3 for free, but AFAIK Skywind would require you to buy both games.Elhanan wrote...

I think dragons were kept low-damage so they wouldn't wipe out entire towns, which may be realistic but would have left you with a lot of missing NPCs. Look at how people are yelling about vampire attacks.

Very handy to have.
They could have had Dragons just not attack towns which would have let them be a bit more powerful.
Its just pathetic that at level 80 I can kill a dragon in three hits.
One if I use my Crossbow and sneak attack.
"Like rats with wings" oh how right you were Mr Quaid.

OTOH, Deadly Dragons and Enhanced High Lvl mods actually add defense, offense, tactics, scaling, etc to the encounters, and appears to make the game challenging while maintaining fairness for both sides. This seems to help, at least for me.
FYI - SKSE and SkyUI have new versions available already.

This is a major factor in me avoiding SkyRedone; Archery perks seemingly remove even more Armor protection from targets, so one shots are more frequent on both sides. Personjally, I am a fan of Vanilla; only wish to improve this, and not replace it.
But the Vampire mod did not work with my set-up; Whiterun NPC's stayed hidden after two days. And I am of the thought that I would rather work a bit harder to save important folks than lose them due to other glitches.

No Dragonborn for PC yet? This is getting annoying, just wish they'd given us more than "early 2013".
Patience comrade, patience... We haven't gotten any news yet because there isn't any. Bethesda has to work on porting the DLC to the PC (must be hell-of-a content). Just be patient and grab it when it does come out.

But seriously, it is a great DLC, the wait must be beyond tedious right now! I really hope Bethesda gives an announcement before the end of the week for you

Took his hands out of his Daedric Heavy Pockets, went and did a quest in Solstheim(going to some tomb with a guy who wanted company/security, got three dragon shouts of it so that was nice), then took a long trip back to Solitude.
So now the Daedric Heavy Snake can get some attention from Ysolda. Y'know. *wink wink*

I need some serious help folks, turns out that the latest versions of ATI drivers cause texture flickering on the game if AA is enable. Does any other ATI user is facing such an issue, because I really don't want to disable AA in the game, it cause an drastic quality drop. Any tips are apreciated.
From the Nexus forums:
I updated my ATI graphics drivers for crossfire configured (dual 4870 cards) and suddenly had a massive texture flicker that made game unplayable. I tried reverting to older drivers, to no avail. I did a system restore, same problem. I figured out that updated driver turned crossfire option on which isnt supported by Skyrim. After spending hours fooling around the fix was to disable Crossfire in Catalyst Control Center and all was well. Also I was able to turn AA and Anisatropic way up after this. Hope this will save folks some time if running into same problem

Well happy_daiz, I decided it was time to bring my Dragonborn home.

I bet Ysolda was happy!
So last night, my husband comes home and tells me that he heard there's going to be a new Redguard DLC for Skyrim. He was all excited, like he was telling me something I didn't already know. I then crushed him by saying, "yeah, that's why I created my new Redguard character". I am such a jerk sometimes!

If someone has a PC capable of running skyrim, why in the WORLD would they get it for a console instead!?
This is driving me crazy.
I'm gonna go listen to crazy love and crazy train.
And cry. Alot.

Thanks for the info, but I'm afraid that's not going to work. My control center doesn't have an crossfire option at all, so I can't disable it. I guess I'm hopeless...
