So Bethesda has announced that all the DLC for Skyrim, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn, will be making their way to PS3 sometime in February. All of it will be priced half off, so just over $20 for the whole thing, for the first week. Now I stopped playing Skyrim after this whole DLC debacle started, but with this announcement I can't wait to play the game again. Who else feels excited for this?

I'm glad it's finally coming to the PS3. As blaidfiste pointed out, three DLCs in short order. I stopped for a while, since I pretty much handled all there was to experience so far in the main game. I'll probably handle the DLCs in chronological order, since I'd like to check out Vampire Lord with my Volkihar mage, and not have to worry about feeding ever again. I'll work on getting the 'safe' at the Guild with my werewolf assassin/thief in the meantime.

Yeah I haven't played in months. Really been wanting to get back into it, and I now have reason to do that. Like a total dork I'm most excited for Hearthfire. Now I gotta finish up the Mass Effect Trilogy before it comes out, Skyrim was the main reason I didn't finish Dragon Age in a timely fashion, and I fear the same would happen with Mass Effect.

I think that is the best picture of my main.
Beneath that scary armor is a guy who REALLY just wants to be home with his family.

If only the bandits, vampires, necromancers, dragons, cultists, and Thalmor could get it.
If they did not act up I would not have to slaughter them by the score.

I was more trying to base his looks around Guy de Lusignan from Kingdom of Heaven.
Plus a little of what I think I might look like at around 45.

I still get annoyed when people say "LOL 45 is to old to be an Imperial!"
Say that to Tullius or any other older human in that game.
Esbern has to be at least into his 60s and he still kicks ass.

Esbern is not a warrior. He's a mage. Huge difference.  Stereotypical mages are always *old*... ancient even.   The most powerful mages in classic literature/mythology have always been really *really* old. They typically have long white beards,  skinny, wrinkled appearances, and use their staves as walking sticks.

On the other hand, Tullius represents military leadership. He's a general. He's supposed to be a thinker and planner, not some frontline grunt who must rely soley on his physical prowess to succeed. That's another big  difference.

As it stands, 45 may not be the death knell for a warrior, but it does  represent  a human who's past his fighting prime.  But for what it's worth, the guy in your  screenshot doesn't look  45.... he looks  like a 35 year old with a beard, which would put him up there, age wise,  with the greatest warriors

{{Spoilers for Hearthfire}}

I've read about Hearthfire during the past few months, and it seems pretty nice to be able to build houses in those Holds. It seems like a cool addition, especially for those of us on the consoles, since we can't use any mods like players on the PC can.

Planning out how I would arrange my Hearthfire houses, and I thought perhaps some people who have already gotten Hearthfire could give me their input on my plans for the Hearthfire houses. I was thinking about putting the Enchanter’s Tower, Alchemy Laboratory, and Kitchen in Windstad Manor; the Greenhouse, Storage Room, and Armory in Lakeview Manor, and the Bedrooms, Trophy Room, and Library in Heljarchen Hall. Would that work without any problems?

With my Tribunal mage, I was thinking about having Erandur, Marcurio, and Illia as the Stewarts of my Hearthfire houses, and adopting Lucia and Sofie. I heard there was some additional dialogue if your adopted children live in Whiterun (at least with Sofie).

With my Werewolf assassin, I was thinking about adopting Runa and Alesan, although I’m not sure who I might put as Stewart of my three homes for this run. I remember someone on this thread using Eola as a Stewart. I was thinking of perhaps having more warrior/assassin companions as Stewarts. Any suggestions on who makes a good Stewart?

Also, any possible bugs I need to watch out for when building my Hearthfire homes?

The biggest bug with Hearthfire is that it changes the navmesh on houses so that if you have any mods for Breezehome at all, you will CTD at entering. There is a mod that fixes this.

The other bug I've encountered is that for my character who already had Lakeview Manor and Heljarchen, when she went to build Windstad Manor, it wouldn't appear. The drafting table was there but nothing happened when I "built" stuff. I don't know if that is a Windstad bug or a "third house" bug since I just ignored it.

For me Lakeview manor will CTD once I had the house near to completely furnished.  That's fixed by removing the workbenches after finishing the room.

I only do one house per character as I found house building to be tedious.  Rewarding once it's done but not enough to build another with the same character.

All the stewards are cool imo however if you take Brelyna from Winterhold, she keeps all of her "life here at the college" dialogue which gets annoying.

Sadly there is no option to have graying hair.

I tried putting the more gray options in, but it makes him look really old.
Ah well I guess I will have to make do.

I just like RPing a Great War Veteran really.

OK; making it official - am NOT a fan of the Dwemer! All this time, and I cannot reall ever going to Kagrenzel before today. So as not to Spoil it for anyone else, let us simply say I was unprepared for the ruins, and cannot recall reading of it mentioned before here in these forums. Now after a bit of a surprise and a nap, time for a replay....

How can anyone hate this game?

Not a big fan of the geezer trope.  The retirement age isn't just for physical deterioration...

Probably why I always roll a sorcerer-type in fantasy settings.

So anyone else trying not to look at Dragonborn spoilers?

I want to know if there are bugs but I am getting some spoilers while doing so.
Damn you BETHESDA FOR LATE RELEASES!

I looked up some armors, weapons.  I don't care to see some level 81 bumbling through the content.

What a shocking way to die really.....

I always attempt to do this while the tykes are sleeping, and make it as appropriate and silent as possible. But my most recent M.O. is to leave the client's book, 'A Kiss, Sweet Mother' in her cold, cold hands; swap it for 'Pig Children'.

Anyone recommend any good books? In-game, I meant. I slapped my casual armor on, sat down on my patio, and decided to catch up on some Skyrim lore.

So...any must reads out there?

The name of the guy is Ulfr the blind. You guys gotta totally read his book, that one and the book of fate. They have such deep stories.

I love some of the skill books that have a story. Unfortunately I don't recall their names. One was for lockpicking. I found it in a Dwemer ruin. Was about a school for lockpicking and one student was always being very slow, which annoyed the teacher, and he thought he could teach her a lesson.
Another one was for archery. A talented archer ended up as a slave of some rich guy, I believe. And he has to teach the guy's son archery. Hmpf, well, I guess this isn't much help for recommending a book. xD

Some books that stand out for me:

1) Withershins
2) Incident at Necrom

Also  The Woodcutter's Wife and  A Cabin in the Woods seem shallow and kinda pointless, until you read them back to back, and then you realize they're part 1 and part 2 of  a rather morbid mystery tale.

The Gold Ribbon of Merit, which is an Archery skill book you can find over at Angi's Camp.
