Also, any possible bugs I need to watch out for when building my Hearthfire homes?
I'm not sure if this bug is on the console versions, since I play on PC, but I kept running into a terrible glitch. It resulted in me having to console all of the materials into my inventory because I was too scared to leave my houses. After building an addition to the house, I would go in to decorate. Looking at the workbench, I could see everything that I required to build some of the items. Sometimes, after leaving the house, I would come back and the workbench would have nothing to build!

Sometimes, after leaving the house, I would come back and the workbench would have nothing to build! It was so annoying and resulted in me having to restart my game a few times. I would go out to buy a ton of goats horns, come back to my house, and find that it deleted all of the items from my workbench.
Sometimes, it would also bring back patterns that I had already completed. I wasted a few materials on them, just to see what would happen.
Nothing happens, sadly. It just eats them up.
That a common glitch you've got there. It's a simple case of re-entering the cell, sometimes multiple times, which should revert the designs. This worked for me. You could also try disabling and enabling the workbench in the console.

Also, if you plan to move your character's family to one of the new Hearthfire houses, I think that it helps to furnish your house completely before asking them to move. For example, sometimes your steward, bard, or housecarl may use the children's bed until their own beds are furnished, which in turn creates problems when trying to move your character's family (I think problems arise when there are not enough available beds for the family members).

I love some of the skill books that have a story. Unfortunately I don't recall their names. One was for lockpicking. I found it in a Dwemer ruin. Was about a school for lockpicking and one student was always being very slow, which annoyed the teacher, and he thought he could teach her a lesson.
Another one was for archery. A talented archer ended up as a slave of some rich guy, I believe. And he has to teach the guy's son archery. Hmpf, well, I guess this isn't much help for recommending a book. xD

Then again I have several mods with dirty edits, but I don't know if I should start messing around with them to clean it or just let the guy who made it do it himself.

Myths of Sheogorath
The Great War, and Rising Threat
Palla
Etc.
I just love reading the books because they add so much lore to the game and the setting.
Oh, also check out Amongst the Drauger good read.

Really, most of the books and journals are pretty entertaining. I remember being totally moved when I was doing Brand Shei's quest for him for the first time (after several playthroughs of never actually talking to him). After retrieving the journal from the Tel Vos and reading it, my mind was blown. Heat of the moment, I guess.

Since we're talking about glitches. I don't suppose anyone knows why my game CTDs out of nowhere or simply gets frozen every so often without any explanation. Does that have something to do with me having 125 mods or something? Is this just common for Skyrim and just happens all the time, since I remember when I played on xbox it always froze all the time.

It's a simple fact that Skyrim's engine isn't great. Mod conflicts often cause CTDs or freezes but even base Skyrim without any DLC still has it's CTDs. Honestly, I don't think many people (or anyone at all) really knows what the heck is going on with it.

Since then, Skyrim has been stable as a giant mountain. I can't get it to crash if I try.

I thought as much but it still damn annoying to have your game freezing all the damn time.

A couple months ago, I began having a crap-ton of crashes and other stability issues with Skyrim. So I took a saturday afternoon to uninstall the game and deactivate all my mods. Then I did a fresh install and re-assessed the mods I wanted to re-activate.... managed to scrap half of them.

I think I would like to try that. I don't suppose keeping my saves is possible?

Debating whether to make another Skyrim character or New Vegas one. Skyrim might win out. Loved Dragonborn.

A few glitches that I've encountered with the Hearthfire DLC on PC deal with the mannequins. First, they tend to move around from their original place, although being on PC, and I can simply use console commands to fix their position. Additionally, the mannequins occasionally duplicate items, although they haven't ever since I've been using the Unofficial Hearthfire patch.
A couple of times I've entered my house to find the mannequins up and walking around like NPCs ... very weird. And the rest of the time, they're floating midair in random rooms.
I only use a handful of mods (Frostfall, Wet & Cold, Footprints, and Climates of Tamriel), so I dunno what to do about it short of having an exorcism.

"YEAH!"
"Its not like he kills Dragons for a day job, hunts vampires on the weekend, has killed 3500 people, the backing of the major guilds, is an honored war hero, and a guy who talks smack to Daedra or anything!"
"Yeah nothing like that boss!"
"Or someone who knows at least a dozen horrible ways to kill us including ripping our souls out!"
"Yeah we are going to be so rich!"

Good idea pissing off the demi-god people...ugh.

Too many dependencies and your save won't load. Better to start fresh, you have 2 weeks.

Just did, this is like the fifth time I've restarted my character. Took out about 40 mods, I still have like 80 but most are either armor, retextures, a few overhauls and some gameplay mods like frostfall and others.

Somewhere between a lucky enemy arrow prompting a reload and today's everyone is automatically 100% healthy after every battle is a happy medium game designers are too lazy to explore.
