Yeah the Breton-Redguard-Orc alliance isn't any better. All three have a history of violence against each other. Still not as weird as seeing Dunmer and Argonian, though...

There's precedent for alliances between Bretons and Redguards. The Pig Children mentioned the Hammerfell city of Sentinel and the High Rock kingdom of Daggerfall joining forces to destroy Orsinium. It happened in the First Era, and I think it happened again in the Fourth Era before Skyrim.

Orcs are the only one that's out of place. Prior to Daggerfall, Orcs were not citizens of the Empire. So, what exactly are the status of Orcs during the Interregnum? Not that different from pre-Daggerfall era, I imagine. But, it's not without precedent that Orcs didn't work with other races. They fought with Nords in Red Mountain, but as mercenaries.

I think the problem we have here is the Dark Elves and Argonians not having precedent for alliance. There are more incidents of war and raiding between races in the lore than there are alliances, especially the Dark Elven attitudes on beastfolk.

Can't find the link to it at the moment, but I remember reading Lawrence Schick, the "Loremaster" for the Elder Scrolls, saying that the reason none of the lore makes any sense in the MMO is because all those single player games are just myths and legends, and that the MMO has all the real lore. So none of the lore from previous games is canon according to this. Looking for the link now. Hope I misread him...

The lore has changed between games in the past (such as the changes with the Dark Brotherhood and the identity of the Night Mother), so it's not surprising that ESO has some changes to the lore. I know in ESO, Jorunn asked the Greybeards for help, which lead to them summoning Wulfharth the Ash-King from Sovngarde to battle the Akaviri General Ada'Soom, but originally it was Almalexia, who summoned him to aid the Tribunal in defeating Ada'Soom Dir-Kamal, the Akaviri demon.

Very well. Don't know why I even posted in the first place, I don't plan on playing it. Just something off putting about seeing Argonians sharing a faction with Dunmer...

Some people have concerns about the same thing as well, so you're not alone. It seems odd, but it's supposed to be an alliance of convenience, since the developers said the uneasy nature of the Ebonheart Alliance (between races who have warred with each other for centuries) is supposed to be addressed.

The lore changes but probably the MMO environment will make for worse than the usual. Admittedly I just hate MMO's, but it seems to be a staple of the brand, that they do gimmicky things and butcher story development for the sake of churning out endless content. The fact that they're making the Altmer queen into a bland adventuress babe is one example, the mind-breaking alliances another.

But I really don't care about ESO. It's not Skyrim, so it should probably be discussed on its own thread.

Sadly until the DLC comes out not much talking about Skyrim will be done.

Still a week away.

Hum, I wonder how it works... this guy in this video for example surely knew how to do it:

www.youtube.com/watch

Look at all the potions he placed at the tables, statues, gems (damn, that's a lot of them!) and etc. There's gotta be a trick to place items in the houses permanently. Well, I'll try your way, see if it works.

You can mod your own game if you have the Creation Kit.  I assume that's what they've done there.

Meko.....

That stupid dog knows my stuff off shelves in Heljarchen hall
I should have just bought the kids a rabbit....

Is that an issue with the children, too? Or simply Meko? I'd actually like to give Meko a good home, since I feel bad he's stuck living in the middle of nowhere (since he's not powerful enough to travel with me).

No its just Meko.

He somehow glitches into the wall at my house and knocks things off shelves.
God damn mutt.

Ah well I guess I will have to live with it for now.
Its not like I can just get rid of him.

My favorite was when my pc was married to Farkas, and had Vilkas as Steward, in one of the Hearthfire houses. Once I brought a stray home dog, and the kids latched onto it, adding a(nother) furry member to the family. Thus started the "Stupid dog" chant throughout the house.

I stay clear of Meeko. The first time I found him, waaaay back in my first playthrough, my follower and my pc were attacked by a dragon. I noticed a dog barking, fought the dragon, then found Meeko's dead body. Then went inside the shack and found his owners dead body and journal. It was just too much to take, so I reloaded, and fast traveled elsewhere. I avoid that shack like the plague, in every playthrough.

I have a similar aversion to non-Shadowmere horses, too. RIP, Frost. *sniffle*

I'm perfectly content with the new "pet" followers in Dragonborn, however.

Poor Frost, he died in my first travel... That's the good thing about Shadowmere, a true tank that one. Why Bethesda makes the character I like so easy to kill, and the characters I hate the most essential? That's just not fair... I could even see it in the newspaper (if Skyrim had any, that is) "Breaking news! The entire Black-Briar family was found dead this morning. See more about their brutal decaptation at page 7!"

Gracias for the information. Hopefully, that won't be the case for the PS3; I guess I'll find out soon enough.

This is why I have my Dragonborns travel around Skyrim before dealing with the dragon Mirmulnir (since the dragons like to snack on people and animals all the time; it gets strange when the dragons get distracted fighting one of the nearby animals instead of me).

I have Frost with my Tribunal mage (since he destroyed the Dark Brotherhood, and couldn't get Shadowmere), but while he has higher health than virtually every other horse (except Shadowmere), he can't really deal with some of the enemies at higher levels. I keep him stationed at Winterhold. I'll probably use Arvark with that character.

My Dragonborn lost Frost AND Shadowmere.

No idea when Frost was lost, or how. Or where.

As for Shadowmere, same. Apparently there's a glitch where Shadowmere can fall under the map and never be accessible again. I think that might have happened.

Its okay as my Dragonborn walks everywhere anyway, but still.

I miss those two.

Arvak is still the horse for me.

Never have to worry about losing him, or having him die.
Plus you can go up a mountain better then you can with a Mako!

I once went into a Dwemer ruin and when I came out again I found Frost dead.:o I didn't even know your horse could get attacked and die while you were inside a dungeon. No sight of enemies nearby, so I have no idea what killed it. I thought the game was being unfair and resurrected my noble steed with the console.:wizard:

So I downloaded the new nvidia update...only for it to cut my fps by 75%. I rolled back, did a clean install of old drivers, and the nvidia forums are no help.

Man, gotta love this bull****. Dragonborn comes out next week and Nvidia is too busy with their sticks up their asses to actually test their bull****.

I'm definitely going to buy it at some point. I'm still playing this as one of my primary games after more than a whole year has passed, still occasionally discovering new things and still having fun - and I have a whole library of classic games I can't say that about.

Ingjard and I definitely need some more new places to scope out though, so colour me a customer.

I already put my 20 bucks down.
Not that it really matters since I found 20 bucks on the ground and took it to be a sign.

Though I take most things to be a sign.
"Hmm its cold outside....must be a sign the universe wants me to stay home and play video games"

lol - sounds like my early days in college. Too nice to go to class, or it was raining; no class today! But we didn't have Skyrim; played PnP back then, and had to walk to the sessions uphill the entire way....

I dont think it would do my kids any favors mentally.

"WHY DID DADDY KILL PUPPY!!!!!!"
Mentally scar them that.

NO more then having seen dad kill a dragon by gouging its eye balls out I guess.
