Getting to 81 is such a chore. Is there any way to level up Destruction quickly?

I just just leveled the skills I wanted (I play a paladin type character) and just console'd my way to 81 (and adjusted my skills health, magick, stam, and carryweight accordingly).

I don't see it as cheating since the only thing I did was make the game harder.

March i did that aswell but ended up having to just reroll a new character, i found it made the game far to easy tbh i was running around 2/3 shooting giants, mammoths etc just took the fun of the game an threw it out the window

Thing im finding annoying is leveling blacksmith/enchanting etc only to see my adventure level increase, that is sooo annoying for me as i love crafting but cause my adventure lvl increaes an because creatures scale with it then not having points in combat skills, god i could scream lol

One may play a character that goes from Crafting to adventure, trains evenly in all, or chooses to Craft late in life; it all works. I do warn those that use Crafting heavily first that there is the danger of relying upon equipment, and a smart foe can still find a way to overcome that advantage.

I intentionally cripple myself as well; I do not do ANY enchanetments on my gear and only do base upgrading. It is still a fantastic challenge. I also have a difficulty increase mod.

I know this sucks but I levelled most of my destruction and possibly conjuration (it is more than a year ago now) by alternately toasting my horse and T1 (waiting an hour) - and also stopping by an imperial camp (the macdonalds of power levelling for very low level chars) every now and then to murder them all, then repeatedly "kill" the imperial legate - these with bound sword power strikes and flames if I recall correctly.

Remember the imperial one getting annoyingly slow after quite an early level, but the horse one was good for much longer. Conjuration progressed much more quickly I think - I certainly hit 100 quickly, although "quickly" in memory might have been a grind at the time.

I think they probably fixed horses in some way, but no doubt some variation is still possible.

^ That's OK; my Dunmer Vampire raised his Vamp perks at the Falkreath Stormcloak camp much the same way, before killing the Hagraven and witches nearby. Evil has it much easier when not restricted to vermin, bandits, and their ilk.

Yeah, Conjuration is a breeze to level to 100. You don't even need to get fancy with the Dremora Lords or whatever. Just use a bound bow or sword. Use it as your main weapon and you'll get to 100 before you know it.

Pickpocket is ridiculously easy to level as well.   Early on it levels at a rate of 1 point per 1-2 successful pickpockets. And after you get to 50 or so, It's something like 1 point per 3 or 4 pickpocket successes (which is still  really simple, and fun). And if you're worried about failing and turning an entire city hostile on you, just get married, and pickpocket/reverse-pickpocket your spouse a bunch of times from the privacy of your home.   She won't mind.  :)

Block - is another really-really easy skill to get to 100. In fact, it just might be the easiest skill in the entire game to level up. Go up to a Giant. And block. This works on a 1 point, per 1-2 block basis until your block skill reaches 70! After that, you pretty much advance at the rate of 1 point per 3-4 blocks. If you hoard Stamina and Healing potions, you can go from 20 block to 100 block in a single 15-20 minute Training session with 1 giant.

The other combat skills are moderately easy (and equal) to advance. 1-handed, 2-handed, Archery, stealth etc. they'll get to 100 through the course of standard gameplay

Trade skills - Blacksmithing, speech, enchanting.... can get pretty tedius from 90-100, but their advancement synergy is pretty neat. you can combine the grinding to advance all 3. For example: Craft leather bracers, then enchant them, then sell them. Do that a couple hundred times and you've just advanced 3 skills to 100.

The TRUE pains in the ass are Alchemy, Destruction and Restoration. There's simply no shortcut whatsoever with either one, which is why many people here have so casually  suggested the use of mods and console cheats.

Restoration is fairly easy imo just follow that tactic you gave but use a set of items which gives you %100 reduction in casting Restoration spells(well this is kind of a "cheat" :P) and just heal yourself.

Destruction is pain, either use a cheat or some mode %rest modifiers a lot, get %100 dest.reduction. And go to caves you cleared before. Put a brick on mouse buttons :)

For alchemy I buy out all of the alchemist's ingredients, mix potions then sell the ones I don't want back to them for a profit.

If I want to do destruction, I keep one of those spells in my left hand. Zap everything then use the right hand weapon when I run out of mana. It levels well if I keep up with the spells.

For restoration I buy the turn lesser undead spell from Farengar ASAP. That spell works on skeletons, draugr, restless draugr, vampire fledglings, vampires and death hounds. If you're high level, be on the lookout for one of those and keep turning it for the skillup. Florentius also sells a sunfire spell and cloak that you can use to help out.

And here is the thing for me: much rather use console commands than make a thousand daggers, pickpocket the wife, etc. Commands help in escaping the tedious grinding of such gameplay. If one chooses to play it out; fine, but it certainly is no cheat to simply Fade to Black or watch a montage, and have the requisite skills for the next scene.

As for Restoration, I have found healing others including mounts to be a decent source of experience. Those Vampire attacks at the gate? Try healing the guards, and the Vamps don't benefit.

Dawnguard helps a bit in that you have offensive based restoration skills now.

Also quick question:
Do you need the Skyrim CD to reinstall your game? I cant find mine, and need to get a new computer, I really dont want to pay 50 bucks again.

I still cant believe it has stayed at 50 dollars for a year

Alternatively there are mods that increase the number of training per level.

I made it to Tel Mithryn- holy crap. Bethesda is amazing. Apocrypha is also pretty clever. I don't know how people can be blase' about this stuff or say it was boring.

I was wondering when you'd get to Tel Mithryn; I knew you'd love it. Posted Image I do, too.

In my first DB run, I went on a grand tour of the coasts before I went anywhere else, so Tel Mithryn was one of the first places I found. I saw a mushroom show up as a black icon on the map, was like, 'what the hell?', and made my way over there. Such an awesome place. I assume you also met Dusty, then?

And good lord, Neloth sure does love putting you to work. I must have missed a couple of his quests in my first run. The latest one involved getting a book for him from Illinata's Deep.

I realized over the weekend that I'd also missed one of the Dwemer ruins (Fahlbtharz) on Solstheim. I had it on my map, and I remember killing the Rieklings out in front of it, but apparently didn't go in it.

This time, I did. I picked up the Visage of Mzund, but have yet to try the Breath of Nchuak. That place was a lot of fun - they really outdid themselves with the Dwemer ruins. And I did visit the Dwemer airship. I wish you could explore more of it.

Oh, and this time? I sided with the Rieklings in the Thirsk Mead Hall quest, and killed the Nords. I must say, I'm feeling much better about that decision. I haven't really noticed a Riekling 'follower', per se, but they do show up on occasion, to lend a hand. I love those little guys.

No.    Ownership of Skyrim is tied to your steam account.    All PC Skyrim CD owners can download Skyrim from Steam whenever they wish without having to pay again.

But if you were miffed about the Dragonborn 990 meg download...well, get ready to take your miffing to the next level.  as steam will automatically download Skyrim + all the patches  (including  all 3  high res patches)  + Dawnguard + Hearthfire + Dragonborn.....all in one massive go.

I am going to do it at my friends dorm on the day I have just one class.

Then I can use his internet.Should only take about 4 hours really.
I do get to start fresh though, which is appealing.

Kind of going to be a bit sad though.

I mean how much of the fun is lost outside of your first play through? When everything was fresh and each new place was really new
I will have fun, but there is something lost after your first run through.

^ I dunno; I'm playing my original Breton, and I'm realizing just how much I missed in my first run. And how many things I wish I would have done differently. With a new character, you get to right all the wrongs.

And thank you again, Dawnguard, for bringing us a face-changer. It only took two hack jobs from Galathil, but now this Breton is actually really cute. Like...fantastically cute. Hooray!

Oh, holy crap! So last night, I was in the process of acquiring the Severin Manor in Raven Rock, and when I went down into the basement, the four armor mannequins were moving. No, really. Moving. Their feet were planted, but while I was walking around, their eyes were on me. One of them even had his arms folded, and was shifting his weight from leg to leg. Seriously messed up, and quite unnerving.

I snapped a photo of it on my camera; I'll have to upload it here when I'm back at home.

That happens in the Riften house basement I tell ya! Creepy as hell. Bethesda has known about this ancient glitch since 2011. I'm pretty sure that to them, this bug  is too "cool" to fix. In fact, the cynic in me thinks that it's not a bug at all, but   an easter egg put in the game by some dev with a twisted sense of humor.

I've had the mannequins show up in different areas of the house before, but I've never seen them display mannerisms of NPCs. The crossed arms was the icing on the cake. Posted Image

Ha ha, that's awesome.  I think this is a bug that Beth is leaving in on purpose, too.  Tamriel is a place that should periodically freak you out.  Now I'll be picturing them watching my PC while she sleeps, plotting how to kill her and get their freedom...

After taking my Stormcloak to Solstheim first, I went back to get my Dunmer up to speed.  I want him and Jenassa to get there because I think they'd look good in some of the armors.  Also his backstory is that he's searching for relics on behalf of Telvanni remnants, so doing errands for Neloth would fit his story perfectly.  He's a nightblade and illusion mage but I imagine they treat him like crap.  He pictures drawing a dagger across their throat and all is better.

I did indeed meet Dusty.     Do the netch and silt strider calls sound like whale song to anyone else?

This used to happen to me with the Dovahkiin Temple mod!  It was so creepy!  They would walk to their positions and then pose themselves. Posted Image Sometimes, they would glitch out even more and just find a new spot to stand.  So creepy!

After reading this page, I think I may be the only Skyrim player who has not soul trapped a corpse to raise conjuration or used Shadowmere for target practice :wizard:

I have to say I'm pretty impressed with Dragonborn.
