I find hard to sympathise with the dunmer, if you played or saw Morrowind, you will see they did atrocious things to the beast races, especially argonian. They are actually far more arrogant then the nords, only difference is they are now on the short side of the stick. For the nords, I prefer them over the imperials, they at least are not cowards. They prefer to die fighting for what they believe, instead of bending their knees to the enemy. People in Skyrim say "Ulfric only cares about Ulfric", but then I question, what about the empire? If selling Skyrim and Hammerfell is enough for the Thalmor to spare the empire, they will do it. The redguards chose to fight. Why the nords can't do the same as well?
That was evident enough in Dragonborn. As for the Empire, not fighting till the death, I think they made the right choice. If they had been completely decimated by the Thalmor, who else will stand up to them, the Argonians? The only faction capable and large enough to beat them. Yes, the Redguard won, but who's to say that the Thalmor didn't let them just win? Will they really be dumb enough to throw away their army against the Redguard just for some parts of land when there is a stronger and larger threat. The fact the Redguard fought on their land is also another reason why it went well, that might change in the Summerset Isle. Besides, they pretty much accomplished what they wanted with the Redguard anyways, the best warriors in Tamriel are no longer part of the Empire, I'd say that counts as a pretty big victory. The Thalmor will pick them apart eventually. The last time the Thalmor were defeated, Tiber Septim needed a brass golem to do it.
In my opinion, the Nords should stop being so stubborn, it is difficult to sacrifice something like Talos, but in the end that sacrifice is being done in the name of humanity's survival in Tamriel. If the Thalmor win, its over and no one else not even the Redguard will stop them. In the end both sides are not great, Ulfric doesn't give a damn about anybody, even Dengeir of Stuhn, one of his jarls says so and the Imperials (except for Tullius and a few others) are a bunch of corrupt cowards, I really hate the fact you can't rid the world of Maven Black-Briar, Elisif, Erikur and Jarl Siddgeir. Elisif is nothing more than a puppet, and as much as I like Tullius I'd rather see a Nord running Skyrim and not Tullius. Erikur, Maven Black Briar and Siddger are nothing but scumbags who see nothing more than their personal interests, even if it means getting friendly with the Thalmor and screwing their own people.
In fact after the Thalmor are defeated, if they are ever defeated, the Empire can crash and burn for all I care, in the meanwhile their job isn't yet done.
