uhh...hmm...when did I do that side quest...I figure I was in my low maybe mid 20's. I did the main story, then the all of the factions, then all the side quests.

@Ken: Were you high level? She was an absolute beast when I faced her.

@Redneck: If they are still under the soul trap enchantment they automatically get trapped in a soul gem, you don't need to do anything else to trap them. What did you kill? Humans can't be trapped without a black soul gem I think.

New preview that I haven't seen posted yet:

http://gamescom.game...est-skyrim-demo

It was a human for which I killed and he didn't get trapped into the star gem that was why I thought that I was doing something wrong. So for humans you have to have black soul gems?

Now once there is a soul trapped into the star how do you use it to re charge your weapon?

Nasty how were you able to do the quest at level 6?

Well whether it be with the sword or the spell how do you get the soul into the gem itself? I cast a soul trap and killed something but can't figure out how to get it into the Star gem. I try to equip it but it say it can't be equipped cause it's empty or some such like that there.

Different Soul Trap spells have different durations.

If you kill something while the enemy is still purple then their soul automatically goes into the smallest soul gem where it fits (or Azura's Star) if you have it in your inventory.

If you kill a humanoid (one of the 10 races), then you can only capture their soul in a "black soul gem," not Azura's Star.

In order to apply the charge to your item, just open your inventory and click on Azura's Star, or any soul gem that contains a soul. It will take you to a menu listing all your magic items.

Well now I was making it harder than it was; not to mention that I tried the spell  on a human the first time. Had Azura's star and it didn't work now I know why. Now is there a list somewhere for which I can go by that has the 10 races listed that you can only use with a black soul gem? That way I can learn what not to waste my spell on.<LOL>

Basically anyone you encounter who is not a creature or a Daedra. (Even vampires were once humanoid, so I'm pretty sure you can't capture any vampire souls without a black soul gem either.)

Altmer
Argonian
Bosmer

Dunmer

What version of Skyrim is everyone pre-ordering? I'm skipping the physical copy for the PC and getting directly from Steam.

Same here. The QuakeCon pack for $40 was too good to pass up.

I was hoping there would be a digital premium edition with OST and Making Of as digital downloads.

It was a very tough battle at 6th level. I died and reloaded about 30 times. I don't think you want me to tell you exactly where to go to find it, right?

the quakecon pack was a special offer through Steam for Fallout New Vegas, Honest Hearts, Dead Money, Old World Blues, Oblivion GOTY, Morrowind GOTY, FO3 GOTY, Brink, Hunted Demon Forge, plus about 20 or 30 games from id and Bethesda.

If you pre-ordered Skyrim and Rage, then you could buy the QuakeCon pack for $40. They will probably sell the quakecon pack again around December 31 for Steam's new year's sale.

I'm getting the PS3 Version from Amazon. I got free shipping too, so it was a great deal.

While I may have to wait an extra 2 weeks to play Skyrim, I saved 1 dollar because I didn't get release day delivery!

360, I like to actully have my games on hand. And I'll be picking up SR3 at the same time. I'll most likely play Skyrim after I beat it, not as I like SR more, but as with as HUGE as Skyrim looks to be you know there will be a few bugs on release. Of course I'll make my PC out in advance of my play however.

Naughty-If I didn't want to know I wouldn't have asked. Beside I'm level 10 now and I've got the Akavari Sunblade and Apothesis<sp> staff so weapon wise I think I've got it covered.<G>

I see what the quakecon pack is about might have to go over to steam and find out more about it.

Chunky- Don't spend that dollar you saved all in one place. Make sure you spread the wealth around a bit.<LOL>

I'm begining to wonder if I shouldn't have made Marksman and sneak two of my primary skills. Seems that they are the ones that I use the most. Especially in dungeons. I"ve gotten pretty good at sniping enemies while sneaking around. Sure keeps my damage at a minimum and them two skills are getting up there pretty good. Journeyman in both of them.

Finding Umbra and actually getting the sword are two very different matters though. I got my ass handed to me and only got the sword after some running away, screaming and blind luck.

umbra was easy.

I got some new info. Pete Hines confirmed that companions in the game can be given commands. One command you can use during combat is to tell a companion to attack a specific enemy. He hinted at other commands, but didn't go into detail. He also said you are limited to one companion, either a hired companion or a friend companion.

Also, Congrats to Naughty99 for becoming a mod on Bethesda's Forums! :wizard:

yummy - thanks Chunky! did they run out of Slave Leia at the bakery?

EDIT: @Redneck, I will give you a hint, without revealing exactly where it is:

The Umbra Sword is an artifact designed with the sole purpose of entrapping souls. The ancient witch Naenra Waerr created the sword by imprisoning Umbra in it. Umbra was a dark being, in the shape of a man but with eyes like holes into nothing, and craved souls.

Naenra was executed for her evil creation, but not before she hid the sword. The sword took on a life of its own, remaining hidden until a worthy wielder was found. Umbra would then slowly take control of the wielder as its hunger for souls began to steal their's.

In 3E 427, an Orc warrior who went by the name of his sword, Umbra, was spotted in the mountains outside the settlement of Suran on the island of Vvardenfell. The Orc's only desire was to die in battle, but no foe could defeat him.

At his request, the Nerevarine (the hero of Morrowind) bested the Orc in mortal combat and claimed the Umbra Sword. The sword came into the possession of Torasa Aram later that year, and was put on display in her museum in Mournhold.

Sometime after the events of 3E 427, the sword was discovered by a Bosmer named Lenwin, from a small settlement in the area somewhere in between Skingrad, Bravil and the Imperial City. She became bloodthirsty, and began calling herself Umbra after the sword, retreating to a nearby ruin.
