So as a PS3 player I finally get Dawnguard and the first thing I do is not work to finish the quests but instead become a Vampire Lord and then build my manor near Morthal. I play such proactive characters.

Don't forget to build your coffin in the basement.

You know, sometimes I don't get that system. Stronger by not feeding? Shouldn't it go the other way around, well I know I use a mod to correct that, also I still have that thing were if you get to stage 4 whole towns will chase out. It turned out to be a real problem in Raven Rock, since it seems there are very few scumbags to feed on in that place. I guess there's that stupid Orc and some Reavers, the Ulens could work but they're dead.

In Skyrim, vampires need human blood in order to look human, increase fire resistance and tolerate sunlight.  However, when feeding, the vampire blood becomes diluted and he/she isn't as powerful (decreased cold resistance, no powers).  At stage 4 the vampire is strongest (max cold resist/ expert level raise undead/ invisibility), ugliest and weakest to sunlight/fire because there are no more traces of human blood.

IMO Bethesda relaxed the rules so that more people will play as vampires.
1) Cool glowing eyes that only the player recognizes
2) Stage 4 vampirism no longer matters
3) Vampire Lord

Yeah I have it and it is pretty good, it allows you to "stealth" feed and kill people by feeding.

The stage 4 thing was something they should have kept IMO, it makes vampirism more fun. that is why I added back through that Better Vampires mod.

Is the better vampires - spell where you turn an NPC you've fed from into a companion something that is supposed to available from the get go? I can't seem to get it working. I'm using Dawnguard and got turned to vampire by the plot quest.

Yeah it is supposed to work from the start. I believe you need to use the spell then feed on whoever it is you want to turn, afterwards you need to wait a little bit then an effect with similarities to soul trapping should happen and whoever you fed on should turn. I've never had any issues with it but I didn't use it much since my guy doesn't  really use followers a lot. I wouldn't know what would be making it not work though. Also I'm not sure if it applies or not but I would suggest using vampire's seduction on the person you want to turn if they're not asleep otherwise I think they die.

DG adds 3 citizens that you can turn into vampires via a radiant quest thru Vingalmo.  Then he's supposed to give you a quest to turn your spouse into a vampire.  It's buggy on the PC since he sends you to turn the same 3 people over and over.

You know, you can have a lot of mods, you just need to have the right tools like BOSS and TES5Edit in order to sort your load order and clean any dirty mods.

I'm using wyre brush an tes5edit

yeah think my problem lay in the amount ive installed then decided ive not liked an uninstalled then replaced an constantly repeated the procedure, no idea if doing that hurts your game but i guess i feel it never hurts to freshly install just to make sure.

i prob end up doing this alot until ive tried every damn mod on the nexus an settled on a few lol

Yeah if you're uninstalling something I recommend starting a new game or being sure that what you have is exactly what you want or need. Sometimes just by uninstalling certain mods mainly the ones that have to do with scripts tend to be troublesome afterwards. I'm sure there's people that run skyrim with 200 mods or more without any troubles, that said I think I'm going to limit myself to 120 mods and no more.

damn never knew you could get away with that much lol, i installed a couple that installed scripts, companions i think they were, an they turned out to be more hassle than they where worth so im staying away from them in future tbh.

Ones i tend to be liking the most but also have the most trouble with are the character creator ones, i spend to much time there lol but im damn picky when it comes to my character since im going to be spending alot of time with her

I have somewhere between 100 - 130 mods enabled and it runs fine, expect the odd hiccup here and there. That said, my current save is in the middle of a CTD blackspot so I may have to do some sorting there.

sort of mods are you guys installing? may save me heaps of time going through all the different ones on there to find ones i actually like

the main combination im using the now is skyre with frostfall, interesting i guess but can be damn annoying lol, was thinking of adding a realistic food/eating system one in to there to add more to it, then i basically tweak the beasties with deadly dragons to be harder (still not managed a good level im satisfied with yet though although getting close), armor an weapon mods is tricky for me the ones i like the look of have a habit of just being to OP when i enhance them via smithing (i know its simple to just not do it, but meh i like smithing lol)

No SkyRe for me; nor Frostfall with my current system. The latter mod is terrific, but seems to use several scripts, and I am forced to leave it be for now.

As for mods I do use: Project Reality: Climates of Tamriel is my top choice for lighting and weather, and WATER is second for more realistic water actions like rapids and waterfalls. XCE is added for better looking faces (cannot use the High Texture DLC), and aMidianborn textures for improving armor appearance. Wet & Cold and Cloaks of Skyrim are chosen for a few more weather effects, and I also use Immersive Armors for a little more variety, though I wait on the weapons mod until later for more improvements (ie; combined category, stats, etc). Add Lush Trees and Enhanced Distant Terrain for a little better view of the world.

For gameplay, I choose Enhanced High Lvl Gameplay, Exalted Magic, Deadly Dragons, and Extremely Vanilla Destruction. These all for more challenging encounters, as well as improving some of the magic spell mechanics.

And most use utility mods such as SkyUI, Quality World Map, Unofficial Patches, Unlimited Bookshelves, but I also added Better Dialogue Controls, and Reduced Distance NPC Greetings to make that gaming experienjce a little more pleasurable; same for IHUD and Predator Vision.

While not all, these are ones I readily recall. And another poster's help was quite beneficial, so I will post that again:

Fantastic mod.  This pretty much guarantees that I'll never use the Vampire Lord form again.

I have countless of mods installed with the Nexus Mod Manager. I'll name my top 10 best mods, and add links to them.

My top 10 best installed mods:

1. Superb ENB-RL
An amazing ENB that totally enhances the look of Skyrim, without too much of a performance hit.

2. Skyrim HD 2K Textures
Overhauls all the textures of Skyrim. Looks even better than Bethesda's official HD texture pack.

3. Realistic Lighting Overhaul
Makes the lighting of the interiors and dungeons look better. Also makes ENBs run better.

4. Relighting Skyrim
Fixes tons of lights in Skyrim that where missing or misplaced in the vanilla Skyrim, and adds a bunch of extra lights in towns, cities and villages.

5. Lively Inns and Taverns + True Medieval Tavern Music
The combination of these two mods will make inns and taverns soooooo much cooler!

6. Wearable Lanterns
If you play with a realistic lighting setup (like I do), a lantern that will light up the pitch-black nights will surely help you. Especially a lantern you can wear on your belt, so you can still use both of your hands!

7. Xenius Charachter Enhancement Mod
Improves characters faces, textures, normal-maps, eyes, hair and facial hair.

8. Masters of Death - Rise of the Brotherhood
Replaces the Dark Brotherhood armors with a much cooler armor. Cosmetic mod only.

9. Player Headtracking
For those who play in third-person perspective. Makes your player character actually look around and look at the NPCs who are talking to him.

10. Total Realism - Basic Needs
Food is completely useless in the vanilla Skyrim. Not with this mods. Your character will need enough food, sleep and drink in order to survive. So make sure you drink, eat and sleep enough, or else you'll die!

I tend to believe that's a lot but compared to other people I bet they probably find a way to get past the 255 mod limit and that's just insane.

I use a little of everything except for the stupid mods which generally include things that are lore breaking or just plain ridiculous, nude mods which quite frankly are not necessary at all or any stupid skimpy armor crap that is too easy to run into in Nexus. As for my best mods, I truly wouldn't know what I consider the "best" mods in my game I guess I like them all.

I use mods that add unarmed perks, modify werewolves and/or vampires, that make beast races look more beast like, mods like XCE that "fix" faces, Frostfall, realistic needs and diseases. Warzones which greatly enhances and makes the Civil War actually take place, Deadly Dragons which makes every fight with Dragons a hard and difficult endeavor, it even makes Alduin stronger. better textures, wet and snowy effects, weather with Project Reality, a bunch of armor mods I consider adequate nothing like "Master Chief Armor" or "Mass Effect Armor". I don't use SkyRe though, didn't find it all that great though.

I didn't even think of it. I completely forgot about SKYI. I have SKYUI installed though, obviously. But the SKYUI has become so natural to me. I almost forgot how crap the vanilla menu is, and that I actually had to instal a mod to get a proper, normal and good-working menu and inventory system. :P

My Imperial Orc is planning to kill two birds with a single blade; to finish Ulfric using Harrald Law Giver's sword. While one cannot drop or sell it,the plan is to kill his hero before returning it, and the reward wil be a bit sweeter this time.

I've decided that a top 10 is not nearly good enough to show all the amazing mods that I think deserve to be showed. So I'm going to turn it into a top 20 later today.
