So as a PS3 player I finally get Dawnguard and the first thing I do is not work to finish the quests but instead become a Vampire Lord and then build my manor near Morthal. I play such proactive characters.

Don't forget to build your coffin in the basement. 

Did. Morthl Manor will defintely be my Bela Lugosi dream castle. All I need is some background lightning and the look will be complete. Too bad we can't build any Daedra shrines in the cellar.

Btw, anyone else getting a lot of stuttering when they enter Volkihar castle?

It's amazing how quickly you can blow through dungeons, once you've done them a few times. I went through Avanchnzel in about 5-10 minutes last night, with my squishy Dunmer mage. She's still pretty low-level, so for Dwarven Spheres, I used Frost Atronachs as a tank (well, Lydia too), and pelted it from a distance.

I brought Lydia along, with the intent of going back to Solstheim with her, but somehow haven't made it over there. Tooooo much to do!

I don't think I ever went on a massacre in Skyrim because of unkillables and buggy guards that won't accept my yield or console commands.  In the above pic Kodlak was already dead and I wanted his heart for the werewolf perk tree.  My shield siblings didn't like my choice in cuisine.

What did your Dragonborn do in 24hours?   Cleared 6 dungeons, killed a dragon, earned 2000 septims, saved riften from a bandit attack, took a long walk up a really nice hill. Great view!!


What did I do today?  Sat on my bum... err went to work,  ate some chocolate....  yeah

I haven't joined the Companions in a long time. Mostly I joined them in the beginning for disease resistance of lycanthropy. But, if I use Serana as a follower, I keep turning into a vampire by osmosis, even if I'm a werewolf.

So, either I don't join the Companions until later on in the game, or I don't use Serana. Or I re-load. A lot. Dang it, Bugthesda, fix it!

Hey, have you guys tried out the Summon Werebear skill from the Beast Stone in Solstheim? I still haven't tried that out yet; just curious how it is.

i do mind doing the dawnguard vampire lord thing and id just been giving the vampire lord spell so i was tinkering with it an transformed into a vampire (as you do) next thing i know all the other vampires in the castle attacked me i was like wtf no hit me im one of you rofl, ive still no looked up to see what i did wrong, i guess if you use the vampire lord spell everyone becomes enemies or something lol really strange experience, prob because i dont know anything about it all though

Yeah that's a bug.  They're supposed to say that they're unimpressed or totally ignore you.

So I got this problem. I can't absorb dragon souls anymore for some reason. No matter how many times I restart the game.
Ever since I installed Dragonborn it started and yes I got all the unofficial patches installed. 
Any one knows what the problem is?

I'm not a big fan of that mod. The story is obviously not written by a professional and although the voice-acting is rather good, the voice-quality isn't.


I generally avoid quest mods, unless they are exceptionally well written and well done, with professional sounding voice-acting. Those are rare however, but they do exist. One of them is Moonpath to Elsweyr.

Where are you in the Dragonborn main quest? There is a certain point where the antagonist starts stealing them from you...

I seem to remember someone else in this thread mentioning they had this issue, but I don't know if they found a workaround.

Where are you in the Dragonborn main quest? There is a certain point where the antagonist starts stealing them from you...

I'm still in the beginning of the Dragonborn quest. Basically only arrived at Solstheim because I wanted the Deathbrand armor. :innocent:

I killed a random dragon that appeared out of nowhere and I didn't got his soul. I haven't killed any dragons yet that guard those words.

I don't believe that is true. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's not. At least not in the vanilla game. But, I've been wrong before (except about bandits kidnapping your spouse in Hearthfire - as it turns out, I was right about that).


Occasionally, dragons won't yield a soul. I've seen that happen, and it's a head-scratcher, but it's usually an isolated incident.

Yeah I usually find its weapon buffs that can do this.  Say you use a sword that does fire damage and its fire damage that ends up killing the dragon and not the sword itself.  This seems to register as a kill not associated to you.


I could totally be making that up though

Move your Unofficial Dragonborn Patch higher up in your load order.  After the main files and before any mods.  I had the same issue, hopefully it's yours as well.
