I think I found my pet peeve in Skyrim.

The NPCs who snidely threaten you or insult you.
I really wish there was an option to say:
"Try it and see how the last idiot to try something fared"

Like Maven threatening you when you become Thane.
Oooooh I am so getting that perk to steal equipped clothes, it is on Maven.

See how people like you when you walk around sans PANTS!

I still haven't really gotten into Pickpocketing. Even when getting the key from Farengar for Mephala's quest, I still have to pop a potion or wear a ring for it to be successful. I've often thought it would be funny to disrobe some of my less favorite NPCs. Heh.

I just got Alteration maxed last night, and moved on to light armor (so no more mage robes). But now that my focus is once again Conjuration and Illusion, mayhap I can use Silent Casting to my advantage, Calm, and pick some pockets. Yes, this sounds like it will be fun. Those two skills are leveling up realllly slowly, though, and I don't much care to spam them.

I'm level fifty now with maxed Conjuration, Illusion, and Alteration (Don't know any Adept+ Alt spells yet) and I'm finding Illusion to be less than useful. Too often the enemy is immune to Harmony or a dual casted Pacify.

This may sound stupidly obvious, but....  have you taken any perks in the pickpocket tree?  Because  pickpocketing becomes a whole lot easier  (and more useful) once you do.

Eh it has nice perks later on, but with some nice gear you get from the guild you can easily get around a 75% chance.

Not the most useless tree though.
That award goes to lockpicking.

^ Oh yeah, my first character still has wasted perks in that tree. And Speech. I need to finish up her DB run to clear those out.

Nope, no perks in Pickpocketing, because I never do it. Honestly, in the average playthrough, I pickpocket twice: once to join the Thieves Guild, and once to get the key from Farengar. That's usually it.

But I might try it out for giggles. Posted Image

^I have never actually maxed out the tree, but I almost always rush my way to 40 in pickpocket and then take the Poisoned Perk asap. It's deceptively useful, and insanely powerful once you become good at alchemy  and sneak.. You can flat out *kill* just about anything with it. You can *stack*  a bunch of poisons into an enemy's inventory  in one go, and  then just sit there and watch them 'drink' every one of them until they die.

You just gave me some great ideas for my Dunmer. Thanks!

I'm not sure why I waited so long to try this out, but it sounds like fun. Posted Image

With my Argonian Mage I maxed out the left side of the Speech tree since I didn't know what else to spend it on at the time. With the Investor perk I just put 7,500 Gold into my favorite merchants pockets and now they have a 10,000 Gold pool for me to sell them stuff to every three or so days. It's nice and useful.

I usually join the TG, and restore it to its former glory. With that, all of the fences and the merchants in the Flagon have a large amount of cash, too. Not that much, certainly, but enough. Most items I hoard, so I don't really need merchants to have that much cash anyway. But hey, whatever floats your boat. :)

Poison pickpocketin is fun but .....

I simply stick an arrow into someones face.

Sure it is obvious.
Yet it works.

There are mods that give your followers the same stealth mechanic as your character.

Still playing solo in my Skyrim games. After watching the current Gophervids play the DLC, and witnessing Teldryn setting some flammable gas to ignite all over the DB, I shall pass on the new Dunmer follower.

It is rather refreshing to see that some other games and Player created mods have better AI and pathing to make the companion experience less annoying. I cannot imagine DAO would be as great if Leliana or Morrigan acted like Serana. And the Ceri Follower mod also looks to be fairly well designed for having someone else safely tag along.

Love Skyrim; companions not so much.

yeah have to agree, its a lonely way to adventure but the alternative is just to much hassle and annoyance

I prefer to have a follower. I guess I've used them enough to know each one's strengths and weaknesses, adapt, and play accordingly.

And I'm playing as a Dunmer, just in case Teldryn does decide to set her alight. Posted Image

I was actually more annoyed by Anska (temp follower) in High Gate Ruins when I cleared it the other night. Damn, she was just as bad as Barbas, if not worse. She pushed me into everything!

To make followers less of a hassle, I use the creation kit and make slight modifications to the companions that I use, such as getting rid of the hunting bow/arrow duplication, giving them the lightfoot perk, modifying their default outfit (e.g., removing Teldryn's helmet), and so on. I guess I could use a mod like UFO, but I'm fine with just minimal changes.

That sounds like Jenassa, and that's Valtheim Towers. And it's frightening that I know that. lol She's usually pretty decent, at least early game, so that's sad to hear.

If you ever lose a follower like that, you should be able to fast travel (even to the location you're at), and most of the time, they'll show up. It's like the game, ala your follower, needs a little kick in the arse, and fast traveling / area transitions are the boot.

Speaking of followers, one of the things that I like to do is create a follower version of my characters and put them into my other characters' games. For example, I usually role-play my Skyrim characters as coexisting with each other so they each complete different quest lines, live in different locations, and so on. In my Redguard Guild Master's game, I have a version of my Imperial Dragonborn in High Hrothgar, hanging out with the Grey Beards. However, I don't usually have him follow my Redguard, because I made him too damn powerful (Level 150 like Arngeir, uses Shouts like Dragon Aspect, Fire Breath, Unrelenting Force, Disarm, as well as destruction spells), but it's pretty cool seeing a version of him in my other character's game.

^ That sounds cool, but I think I'd really only use them as other DB's stewards. It's hard to find good help in Skyrim!

Speaking of which, I had an Ancient Vampire run over to my cow and kill it, and neither my housecarl or my steward did squat about it. It's my cow, dang it!

Is there a mod that lets them perform sneak kills? I've been trying to find something like that.

Why all the love for skyrim ? I've held off buying it, due to bugs in the ps3 verion and bethesda problems with getting their dlc to work in the ps3 version. Are all those problems fixed now ? I was hoping for a goty edition of skyrim but if that's still a ways off should I go ahead and buy it?
