Have seen Viking, but cannot really say I like it. Some talented acting and actors, but do not like a single character beyond the kids. *SPOILERS*

However, I did lol at the scene where the lad threatened to sacrifice the Monk to Thor. And Vlad will be missed.

As for Skyrim, I am quite happy that so many mods are getting upgraded for the DLC.

Other than the Unofficial patches, I primarily use texture and mesh mods to improve the appearance of the game. All else is thrown into my personal plugin, which is loaded last because I made all DLC masters to it (using TESVEdit), so when I update it in the toolset I get the most updated data. For example, there is data in world cells that varies from Skyrim to Dawnguard to Dragonborn (and the various Unofficial patches), so my mod uses Dragonborn's data since it's most recent. I also end up hand-editing a few cells in certain mods (SMIM) because they don't recognize one or two DLCs, and therefore overwrite data.

After reading "The Bear of Markarth", a Thalmor document about Ulfric, and doing a certain prison quest, I'm even more firmly convinced the Empire is the best choice for Skyrim. Unlike Star Wars, this Empire isn't "evil" in the classic sense. They struggle to provide a united front versus the Aldmeri Dominion (a real threat to everyone's way of life), while Ulfric is being selfish and trying to fragment the kingdom so he can be king. Way to make yourself a sitting duck versus the Altmer, who will attack again if they succeed in sufficiently fragmenting the Empire (while rebuilding and strengthening their own forces).

Ulfric's an idiot.

The Bear of Markarth is contradicted by the people of Markarth, however - including the pro-Legion Jarl Igmund. It's a factually inaccurate version of events since everyone from a native Reachman to the Jarl of Markarth contradicts what Arrianus Arius, Imperial Scholar, wrote.

In truth, Ulfric didn't force the Empire's hand - the Empire offered religious freedom to the Nord militia on the condition that they overthrow the Forsworn empire that gained control of the Reach (which is why a Nord militia formed in the first place), which is supported by what Igmund confirms personally to the protagonist. That was the entire point of Ulfric and the militia overthrowing Madanach and the independent Forsworn kingdom in the first place. As Cedran says, "Forsworn had taken over Markarth, and Ulfric and his men drove them out. Empire promised they'd be free to worship Talos afterwords."

As for the Thalmor dossier, it reads that the Thalmor tortured Ulfric, that he refuses to work with the Thalmor, and that a victory by either the Stormcloaks or the Empire is bad news for them.

There is good and bad with the Empire and the Stormcloaks. There are good and bad Jarls with the Stormcloaks and the Empire. Ulfric and Tullis are two good, but admittedly flawed, men who are trying to do what they think is best for Skyrim. There are valid reasons for joining the Stormcloaks or the Legion, and both leaders recognize that the Thalmor are a serious threat to everyone. Also, I don't think either Tullis or Ulfric are idiots. Both leaders have opposing views on what they think is the best course of direction for the nation.

The "You Have Spent Too Much Time in Whiterun Test"

Going through a new playthrough and just realized I know a lot more about Whiterun than all the other cities.  Is it just me?  Just about all these questions I can answer "yes" to if I replace change the question to "in Whiterun".  How many of these can you get right without looking at the Skyrim Wiki?

1) What is the name of the Inn in Riften?
2) What is the bard's name who peforms in Markarth?
3) What is the name of the owner/cashier of the General Store in Solitude?
4) What is the name of the Jarl's palace in Riften?
5) What is the name of the blacksmith in Windhelm?
6) What color are the guards' shields in Falkreath?
7) What is the name of the alchemist in Dawnstar?
8) What is the name of the begger in Markarth?
9) What is the name of the fruits/food vender in Solitude (i.e. the Carlotta)?
10) Does Winterhold have a jail?
11) What is the name of the house the PC can buy in Windhelm?
12) What is the name of the alchemy shop in Riften?
13) What is the name of the Jarl of Markarth?
14) In Solitude, where are all the places you can get a divine blessing?
15) Where is the temple in Windhelm?
16) How many general goods stores/blacksmiths/alchemists are in Morthal?
17) You know where the smelter is in Whiterun.  Do you know which of Skyrim's 8 other cities has a smelter and where it is?
18) How many ways is it possible to enter/leave Riften without fast traveling?
19) What's the name of the Redguard in Falkreath?
20) Quick - are there any Dunmer in Dawnstar?

Edit: I bet Happy Daiz gets all the Riften questions right since her characters spend so much time there :wizard:

^ I'm a little ashamed to admit that I don't know the answer to some of those. Shop, pub, inn, and house names, I know, but individual people? Yeesh.

Yeah, the Riften ones I definitely know. Some of the others, I know from being in the TG in every.single.playthrough. Image IPB

So, how many ways can a would be thief enter or leave Riften without fast traveling?  That's actually a tricky question...I think the answer is five but without wikiing it, I wouldn't bet anything more than a McDonald's value meal.

Ways out of Riften?

The Two Main Gates
The exit through Honeyside.
The exit through the Sewergrate of the Prison.

That is all I can name.

I didn't know of the Sewergrate. Then there is at least 6.

Main gate by stables.
The gate to the north of the city by palace.
Honeyside.
Black Briar meadery.
There's a gate right by the Blacksmith that goes to the docks/fishery.

You know I find your enemies policy of attacking you to be rather silly.

"Lets send...uhm three! guys after this one person who can kill dragons and whole armies at a go"
Or more insulting is when they send ONE.

Actually, one of the things I find borderline revolutionary about Skyrim is that  often times enemies  such as bandits, will  warn you when you come near them and their camps, instead of  just mindlessly attacking you on sight.  They'll say stuff like  "that's close enough!"  or  "I'm warning you, back off!".

Same thing with animals and some monsters.  Giants will do their club-wave dance.  Wolves will get into their pouncing stance.  Even trolls will stand up straight and pound their chests.

Quick tip: If you're looking to give yourself a heart attack, all you need to do is give Serana Miraak's mask. She will then proceed to menace the bejesus out of you every chance she gets. I've jumped about 4 times before I realised it was the mental git running around in the dark.

Does anyone else here really love Linwe's Armor? It's probably my favorite set in the game. My only gripe is that I can't enchant it further and that the hood doesn't work when you're a vampire.

^ Linwe's Armor was always my favorite TG armor, but Blackguard's Armor (Dragonborn) is slightly better, and looks exactly the same.

I don't like the hood.  I always want to adjust it so one eye isn't blocked.

^ Does it block an eye? I never wear the hoods, so I had no idea. The Aetherium Crown has kind of spoiled me, tbh.

I love the freedom in Skyrim right now.

Everyone plays something different.
I have friends who play like:
A merchant who avoids battle at all costs and just wants to make money (Only level 15 now)
An Orc who is based on Conan the Barbarian
A Female Breton who wants power at any price
An Imperial Spellsword who spends all his money on booze
A Khajiit Vampire who only eats Bandits

I just love seeing all these characters coming out of my friends playing.
Now my sister's boyfriend is playing a Redguard based on Samuel L Jackson.

I really can't imagine what their baby will look like. LOL

It makes me feel like a princess.

A fabulous Princess.
I made my manly Nord wear it, just to see a manly guy killing people with a Tiara.

^ Oh yeah, definitely a fabulous princess. I've often wondered why Bethesda didn't have an alternate, more "manly" version for men. It's really weird seeing Jarls wearing something so feminine.

She makes me jump sometimes by coming through a door I just had to unlock and open. I'm like... how did you get to the other side? On a more fun note, she likes to stand in front of NPCs I'm talking to so I'm looking at her face but hearing them speak.

It's actually my favorite hood in the game. I play as a female Nord who is an Archer/dual-wielding daggers style character. She looks like a female Robin Hood with that armor equipped. Image IPB

Imagine all that but she's wearing a big golden squid mask and lurking just enough in the shadow's that you can't quite make out it's her. I've had to confiscate the maske and free Skyrim from her terror.

Not exactly Skyrim related, but I played Oblivion a long time ago. When I first started playing video games and didn't like it. After getting so used to Skyrim, I'm trying to play Oblivion and wow is it different. I wouldn't say archaic, but it definitely is a little dated feeling to me. Mind you I only started playing video games relatively recently (late 2009, early 2010-ish I believe).

I miss Skyrim's combat system a lot.
