Finally met two more daedric lords last night; having fun doing side quests. Wielding dual pickaxes lets me mine two to three times as fast, even if someone else is using the node. Also looks funny in first-person view. Plan to start TG quests though I hated the Ratway last time I was in there.

Well, luckily, you won't have to spend much time in there. Once you join the guild, and get the secret outside entrance, you can just fast travel there, and head on in.

Where did you find the Daedric Lords?

It's on sale on the Xbox right now for $10.

Sweet, maybe now I can finally convince my friend to buy it.

Dawnguard and Hearthfire are also 50% off.

^ I bought MS points for one of my friends for her birthday, with the sole purpose of her buying Dragonborn with them. Yeah, I'm thinking she pocketed the money, because she never did play it. Image IPB

My advice to anyone buying Dragonborn - don't rush through the MQ. It is relatively short. I had a much better experience by doing other stuff in Solstheim first, then when I felt like I had most sidequests done, and most of the map uncovered, I started the MQ. For me, and the characters I've played, it just seemed more organic that way.

I put  alot of time into Skyrim's side stuff before touching the main quest. That's the routine I follow with Bethesda's games.

*SPOILER*

There is a very nice enchanted Pick available at the top of a rock formation near Paarth at the Throat of the World; mostly for those that enjoy crafting, IMO.

Thanks for the information on the Ratway; I was dreading it but now I'm looking forward to it. :)

I encountered their Shrines actually, Malacath and Vaermina. Had a headache after work yesterday so I was running around randomly and ended up doing quests for the southern Rift orc stronghold, then Dawnstar's nightmare quest. (Also started my path to Mehrunes Dagon, heh.) Don't have too many daedra left to 'meet'.

Yep, have to do a bit of jumping around to find it, along with a couple ore deposits. Truly the top of the world.

I have one; maybe two characters from NWN1 on a PW that never died due to being very, very lucky and well protected. My norm is several reloads or respawns with characters, as my fingers can freeze, surprise, unlucky rolls, etc. Never really understood those wanting to play with Perma-Death rules.

Wish Bethesda would update this one to work with the new ore found in the DLC; more of my characters would be interested enough to fetch it.

^ The Notched Pickaxe sometimes isn't there for me. I wonder if maybe Paarthurnax gets a bit over-exuberant with his breathing.  Image IPB

i think after losing characters through choice of mods breaking my game ive prob put in somewhere over 500+ hours into archer an i well just grew tired of it tbh, im not playing with any set rules just feel the need to change things up i guess, really need to tweak that deadly dragons mod better for difficulty lol

There an even sweeter axe available when you complete a certain quest on Solstheim.   Its pretty fun to use as well

B)   (as in it freezes folk solid!)

Teldryn Seyo died and I didn't notice until it was way too late. I'm very sad now, he's my favorite companion.

^ I would go back to save him, if it were me. But then, if you had any idea how many times I went back to save Lydia...

Teldryn Sero is worth it. I'm hoping when I get back to Skyrim that I can get him to take off that ugly helmet.

I accidently discovered that dead NPC's of note are stored in the game, and as such one might be able to raise them via console commands. I have not used such commands myself, but the Wiki sites should be helpful.

Can someone explain how the bounty system works? I know it is a stupid question but I've got the "discreetly kill the traveling bard quest" for the Dawnguard.

1) Muffle
2) sneak
3) nobody sees me
4) invisibility
5) nobody stills sees me
6) sneak attack - "bard" dead
7) 1000 bounty.

I've done this 20 times. Is there some trick I'm missing? you know...like sneaking, muffling, invisible, one-shot kill...being discreet?

You gotta be quiet. The game recognizes the noise in your room.

So turning off "Jump Around" could help.

I mean seriously thats like the most distracting song ever when you're trying to sneakily kill someone in Skyrim

Image IPBImage IPB Aaand, now my co-workers are looking at me funny.

Usually I sneak, shoot an exploding crossbow bolt at them, then put the crossbow away. They'll stop being hostile, so then I rinse and repeat, unless my archery is really high (in that case it's a one-shot kill). Then immediately fast travel elsewhere, even the front gete of the city, then run to the body and plant the note, (if there is one to plant).

If you have high pickpocket, and the poison perk, you could do what Yrkoon does, and drop some poison pots in their pockets, and let them off themselves. Image IPB

Seriously, imagine what it would be like if this is what plays every time you sneak

Which location are you assigned? Was the attempt outdoors?

It's in Falkreath and I tried inside the bar and outside by the cemetery. I'm just going to use the console command to kill him.

The way I deal with the Traveling Bard quest for Dawnguard is ask him to follow me, and then fast travel to Karthspire (the place where all of those Forsworn are camped outside of Sky Haven Temple). When you get there, the vampire bard will start attacking the Forsworn and eventually die (I usually just hide), and you'll get the objective complete without committing any crime (well, aside from watching someone die).

I recommend outdoors if at all possible, as transitions can be precarious with such events. In my experience, a long ranged shot while concealed does the trick, and Invisibility is not that great as a reliable defense. Perhaps perching on the hillside, and remaining in stealth might do the job.

All this said, these kinds of quests are my favorite, simply trying to solve them as would the character.
