Just a quick thing about the Skyrim DLC fiasco: saying that Bethesda, or BioWare, or any other company is now terrible because they messed up one part of one game, when they've made many, many others that are better before seems a bit odd. Just thinkin' out loud.

Anyways, can I change the subject for a second? In terms of the next TES game, I'd like to know a bit more about both Summerset Isle and Atmora. Especially Atmora. I know pretty much nothing about that place, except that humans apparently originated from there.
Also, do you think the next gen consoles will be powerful enough to have a game set across all of Tamriel at once?

I think my ideal idea for TESVI would be something like TESVI: Dominion, taking place across the Summerset Isle, Valenwood and Elsweyr.

That way the environments could be pretty varied and it could have some interesting options for the main quest...

The map would be bloody huge, but hey. It's a thought.

Not much to see in Atmora, lore says that expeditions were made there a few times after being abandoned. The explorers found virtually nothing but ice in there, any vegetable or animal life in there is gone for good. So I doubt it.

And about exploring all of Tamirel, you'll be able to do that on TESO, of course it won't be half as cool as exploring in a main game of the series.

Bethesda messed up with Oblivion(only Shivering Isles, two guilds and mods made that game fun) FO3(a good game but a horrible FO game) and now SKyrim. That's three games in a row they have made massive mistakes, and now we have ESO that is going to be a massive flop. So ya it's not just the Skyrim dlc fiasco, it's a combination of many things.

Only if FO4 is more like NV and less like FO3.

That goes for me too, I really hope it is Obsidian who is making Fallout 4 and not Bethesda, but I'm sure that is not the case. FO:NV is probably the best RPG that I own. Fallout 3 never felt like a Fallout game, especially with the Brotherhood of Steel, or they can just let Obsidian make another Fallout game afterwards, hopefully one in which Bethesda's time tables don't cause half the 1/4th of the game to be cut.

That's not what I'm saying.  It was a good game, and the DLC was individually good, but overall it didn't add up to anything much story-wise.  And there's no denying they did a horrible job on PR and fan relations in the post-release.

Anyways, can I change the subject for a second? In terms of the next TES game, I'd like to know a bit more about both Summerset Isle and Atmora. Especially Atmora. I know pretty much nothing about that place, except that humans apparently originated from there.

Atmora is the Nord homeland, so you can kiss that one goodbye.   Humans originated in Tamriel, though, and wandered to Atmora from there.  An Atmora DLC was what I was hoping we would get next, based on what I thought was a tease from a dev at BGS forum who posted "Winter is coming" in a thread where we were speculating that the recent ARG was about new Skyrim content.

A game across all Tamriel would be too big for an open world game, and not just tech wise but in general- it would be completely unwieldy.

I can go on, also you know the fate of the Dragonborn being a plaything for Mora there is no closure unlike Oblivion, FO3 and NV. Keep on defending stupid choices from Bethsda who is no better then Blizzard and Bioware right now.

I imagine we would get an answer for that when ES6 comes out. That's generally how games work

It's not typical for games to resolve themselves upon a future release, it's assinine and annoying.

Wait... is Alduin still threatening to nom the world? Did I miss something in the game where its main storyline was not resolved :bandit:

Somebody either didn't play the game after Alduin's "defeat" or pay attention.

Alduin was defeated and isn't feeding on the souls in Solstheim anymore, he will come back at the end times to fulfill his destiny instead of ruling the world. But if you consider that unfinished, then I'm surprised people were complaining about not being able to straight up kill Mehrunes Dagon

If Elder Scrolls were any other video game series, defeating Alduin would make it "finished," but it's not. ES heroes have typically gone on to have some other significance that is not just saving the world. That's why the games are not your average video game power fantasy. Maybe we'll find out something in the future that will make the dragonborn's character arc make sense and seem awesome, but I'm not seeing it.

They really need MK.  Like, really bad.

Yeah typo there, I meant 1/4th of the game, just go look at a series of mods called New Vegas Uncut and you'll see how much stuff was cut, there's also other mods that add cut content aside from those. At least Obsidian made it possible to restore it.

Oh I know, and agree, that massive amounts of content was cut. We were supposed to be able to visit Legion territory, have Ullysses as a companion and meet The Burned Man. I just wasn't sure where you were getting 1/8th from.

Well for the most part it's never comfirmed Alduin truly dies. His soul is not abosorbed and when you ask about this, the people you ask say it's possible he is not dead. So the fact that even in game there is uncertainty that Alduin is dead just makes it worse. You can like Skyrim all you want. Does not change the fact Bethesda left it unfinished and the reasons for doing it are balant and stupid.

Bethesda like leaving things open just in case they want to explore it later on. Just like the whole Nerevarine in Akavir.

In the next Elder Scrolls game one will hear random citizens whisper to each other that one day the Dragonborn got pulled into a black book by tentacles and never returned.

The sad thing is Bethesda will probaly do that. They did end Skyrim with the Dragonborn being a plaything for Mora after all.

I'm not sure how that one works exactly. From Molag Bal questline I got the impression that someone only belongs to an daedra if they willing make an pact of servitude. As Molag demands from the priest an oath of servitude before killing him in order to take his soul for himself. And I remember that the dragonborn can defy Mora everytime he talks to him, calling him monster and abomination, saying he will never serve him. So the dragonborn might not exactly become his servant.

With all those tentacles, would being Mora's plaything be so bad? >:3

How interesting, it appears Bethesda started teasing another game today. How convenient that it was just yesterday that they announced they'd stop with the Skyrim DLC.

Frea also seems to think the Dragonborn can forge his own path, instead of becoming Mora's thrall.

If anything, when the Dragonborn finally dies, its gonna be an all out battle between the Daedra for his/her soul.

They do need to make money to keep operating, so you have a point there.

There's a diffrence between making money and only caring about making money.

To some people, needing to make money and working towards making money by developing a new product would seem like only caring about making money
and if they only cared about money, why not pump out some more Skyrim DLC to squeeze fans for money? Why not give modders some money and credit recognition for the rights to story mods, voice them, and then sell a bundle as a full DLC to consoles and PC players who hadn't snapped them up when they had been free?
