Well, Skyrim is finished. All resources on Fallout 4 (also Zwei and Doom 4 will be published by them). What an epic journey. Can't wait until VI. But bring on Fallout 4, damn it!

Anyway, any news on the last patch? I really want to get into Skyrim again so I can mod it safely.

No surprise really, there was no way they were going to do a Thalmor DLC, stuff like that normally progresses in between games. I was hoping for a High Kings Moot DLC though, that would have been interesting, Ah well, I'm happy with the DLC's, it's good to see a Dev who doesn't try to squeeze every drop out of a game.

That's a really good point. Here some of us are, complaining that we DON'T get to line their pockets with more of our money? For shame, Bethesda. Posted Image

Yeah, no one looking in should think that we're really dissing Bethesda, but at the same time they fumbled at least on the communication. And I do feel like the dragonborn got the shaft in terms of story coolness, which is in part a reflection of how well they did in past games. Which does make other criticisms of Skyrim's story seem more pertinent since there's nothing of redeeming value that came out of the meta-story, it's just a disjointed, rather mediocre mess.

I think the reason people aren't quite happy with this  is the fact that they told us they wouldn't be making anymore DLC four months after the last DLC was released. It was abruptly ended, personally this is what I dislike the most. Then they also said there would be more content, they should have not said that, they should have kept quiet if they didn't know if that was possible.

Sometimes things change that you can't predict. I say this is one of those scenarios, thus I'm moving on.

I'm not gonna hold anything against them or even criticize them saying what they should or shouldn't have done(except give me that Mega Mudcrab, dang it).

S'all good to me. I know one thing-

I'm definitely down for the next Elder Scrolls.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this decision wasn't easy for them, I'm sure whatever they were working on got shelved and there were many reasons as to why, they went past schedule because of PS3, the next console generation is coming and TESO is surely pressuring them as well. I can understand that, I'd just wish they had told us sooner, that way no one would have had their hopes up.

That does suck; I mean, how many of us were looking forward to the alleged "Redguard" DLC? I'm sure everyone at Bethesda probably wishes they could continue on the next Skyrim DLC, but there must have been a situation outside their control that moved it off the table. Heck, for all we know, they could have been part of the way through it, and weren't happy with it. I wouldn't blame them for hiding that, tbh.

I guess I'm kinda viewing it as, 'well, at least we found out'; rather than never, ever hearing anything about it again. How many games have fallen to that fate? The transparency from Bethesda is refreshing to me. I know they love what they do, and will make it right in some other way. Fangirl, I may be, but I have faith in them.

^ Betting that's the case. They wanted to get Fallout 4 or whatever on full swimg sooner than anticipated and ended up cannivbalizing Skyrim people to get it rolling mayhaps. Anyone know if Skyrim DLC has been selling extremely bad or something? Considering sales, longevity and how well loved Skyrim is, I was absolutely certain we'd get at least 2 more major DLCs.

Skyrim has been out for 17 months now I guess. At this very moment, Skyrim is 6th most popular game in Steam..when measured by how many active users are currently in-game. From grass root vantage point,  stopping to poop DLCs out for it is pure madness. It is easiest moneys ever.

Well given I'm switching to PC gaming just getting some stuff in order still and I bought a copy of Skyrim in advanced for that, I've been looking on Nexus and I found about 7 mods I plan to install right off the bat, namely this one fallower, maybe two in that reguard, a new race pack, and Akavari Samurai Armor/weapons, also the town improvements/more npcs. Any other recommendations people have or suggestions on what I might like?

Imo these 3 are beyond stuff like subjective tastes and suches. They turn your UI and inventory to cosy elegant condition where you stop wanting to tear your hair.

Stay well away from Steam Workshop btw. Uninstalling mods you dl via Steam is a massive pain. Stick to Nexus and the rather grand Nexus Mod Manager.

* Project Reality: Climates of Tamriel - My fave mod overall, and helps with inside lighting as well as outdoor settings.

* WATER - a close second as a must have for the PC. Adds realistic actions and cleans the water of Tamriel.

* XCE mods - improves the faces of NPC's in the game.

* Wet & Cold - adds the mentioned appearances to characters and weather.

The XCE mods are good for this; top rated, too. My own system is not top end, but a sub-section of this was my first add-on in my game.

How hard is it to click "unsubscribe"?  I use both and haven't had any problems.

I've read plenty of compltains on how Workshop does very bad job with actually removing files even after you unsub. Using larger graphics mods via Workshop and then deciding you'd rather stop using them is exceptionally good way to get in trouble.

Ah, well that can be a problem on any mod especially those that change scripts.

Yup, this is because unlike past Bethesda games, you can no lnoger do clean saves. No matter if you uninstall a mod, some of it will remain in that playthorugh. This can be a massive issue if it's a mod that affects scripts or patches.

It's nor an issue with workshop, as it can happen on Nexus. It's the game engine.

Unfortunately, even if you do have a super GPU, CPU and a lot of Ram it really doesn't matter in the end because of the engine's limitations. Since it is a 32-Bit application Skyrim cannot use more than 4GB Ram and if you try to run say a mod that adds a lot of NPCs to a certain area and also want to use a lot of graphics mods as well Skyrim will always crash Why they didn't make a 64-bit version of Skyrim is beyond me, modding would be even better but I guess few games have the level of modding that Skyrim does so that makes it somewhat alright with me.

But things like XCE, don't take up much ram.

If you like immersive mods I would recommend Frostfall, Realistic Needs and Diseases, Diseased, Hunterborn, Convenient Horses, Trade and Barter, Battle Fatigue and Injuries.

Could swear I replied to this...but yeah I know what you mean, they could at least make a patch for 64 bit os. Its all switching that way anyways saddly. Ehh I wasn't getting nothing too fancy gpu wise, plenty good enough for skyrim though, namely the ATI HD 7870 or the AIT 7950, some good deals on both of those atm.

If you are interested in vampires there's Better Vampires which makes playing a vampire much more enjoyable and hard at the same time if you choose to. There's also Belua Sanguinare that has to do with vampires but I've never used it. There's also some neat werewolf mods if you're interested in that as well like Tales of Lycanthropy, Werewolf Perks Expanded and Werewolf Mastery.

Finally I know of some good magic mods like Empowered Magic which rebalances things a bit but more importantly it makes Destruction magic viable, there's also the Apocalypse Spell Package which adds a lot of new spells and last but not least if you really like cool graphical effects there's a mod called Burn, Freeze and Shock Effects which adds well effects for when enemies get burned, frozen or shocked, its pretty cool IMO.
