Orcs look so awesome in Skyrim.

@ Splinter Cell: Complaining is a Dunmer national pastime.

I guess it is and I guess every race has its national pastime, Altmer like to believe they're better than everyone. I hope the next TES takes place in the Summerset Isle, who knows what is hidden there and what's going on in there. Otherwise they should go to Argonia, I find those two places would be interesting.

A shield with an Orc is waste. They are designed for offensive combat, so either use dual-wield or a two-handed weapon.

Btw here a pic of my Orcish main-PC:

Nothing wrong with making your Orc a speed-tank. Shield-bashing and slashing up close and there is little they can do about it.

If that were a true-blooded Orc, the Gondorian would be a bloodstain on the ground :)

@Yrkoon: His block is only 35. My orc playthrough has just started, and while I am aware that a shield and mace Orc may not be "optimal" in some people's eyes, its ok. Roleplaying and fun are much more important to me than an "I WIN!" button or a corny exploit. Besides, he's an older vet of the battles that ignited the civil war, (learned this combat style in the Jerall mtns as a young soldier from a strong female blacksmith/merc/Orc named Akassa) and he fights somewhat conservatively... for an Orismer.

Ahh...  so you just started him.  Ok, yeah.  Practice your blocking on stuff like Mudcrabs.

Later though, when you're strong enough to take them on, I'd suggest graduating to Giants.  Blocking a blow from a giant will increase your block skill super fast.  Pretty much on a  1 point per 1 block basis until your block  skill gets to about 60, after that your block skill will increase by 1 point for every 3 Giant attacks you block.

Oh yeah, I bet you're right. Still, pretty awesome.

I might have to go back in at some point and make a male Orc. That might be a male facial form I'd do well with. For some reason, I just can't get the hang of making decent-looking dudes.

Just ask Cutlass Jack. *sigh*

No, I can't make dudes either.  Bethesda made him and I think they did a very good job with that particular Orsimer.

I do not have the eye for such things.  I bet real dollars Addai could make an awesome orc...she actually made a decent looking female dwarf in DA which i did not think was possible.

Edit: You opt for the pale look, I see?  Maybe because I've lived my whole life less than 30 miles from an ocean, all my characters sport a tan :wizard:

^ Nah, he's darker than that, he's just blown out from taking the image from my tv with a digital camera. I usually give them a bit of a tan, too. Posted Image

Addai has some serious skills with character creation. Did you see her Dunmer? Good lord, he was hawt. A Dunmer!

I don't have trouble making male characters, well apart from male elfs, for some reason I find they all creepy looking. Maybe I should show my male nord, now that's a good looking chap.

Indeed. Pics or it didn't happen! Posted Image This thread can always use moar photos.

Yeah, the Mer can be tough. That's why it's so impressive when someone can make a really good-looking one. I think I'm better with female characters, probably because I'm female, and I have a better understanding of our faces than I do males. OK, that sounds weird.

Not that weird, I also think it's because female elfs look more "soft", so they are easy to make attractive, while the males have those huge saliences in their faces, wich makes them pretty intimadating.

The only well made male elves I could create were High elves, the others always looked bad, so I just downloaded a mod to help with that and even then its still difficult.

If your finding it hard to make a male id recommend a custom race mod http://skyrim.nexusm...m/mods/35474//? aswell as the various mods the description itself recommends which make it safer to do the showracemenu command and basically make for a better character creator overall

I've got a problem:

I decided to start here first. After 500 hours with a single character on my PC playthrough, I've finally decided to roll another one and start a new playthrough.

So for the first time in a long time, I start a new game. I go through the opening animations, get into Helgen, and just as I get out of the wagon and the thief runs off, the entire town turns hostile and a never ending fight breaks out. The game does take me to the character creator and allows me to complete it, but when I exit, the fight is still going. My character's animation continues on to Tullius, but then he turns hostile against the crowd, and hence I am never able to complete the animation of going to the chopping block and being saved by Alduin showing up. The animation stays locked on everyone fighting in Helgen.

I've tried three different times to restart, all with the same result. I can go back and play my original character no problem, but am currently unable to start a new one.

Any help?

if your using mods turn them off and start a character, if not god knows

http://skyrim.nexusm...com/mods/9557/?

Thats an alternate start mod, basically allows you to miss out helgen and start your on life, its safe to use as i use it all the time and its setup so to start the main quest all you need to do is do the quest it assigns you upon entering the world, im posting it because it should solve your problem if you dont find a solution to the problem and even if uninstalled it wont corrupt your saves or shouldnt

Epic Dragon fight today!

Soon after leaving Raven Rock as the only DB, I started to travel from Windhelm to persuade the nearby Boethian cultists to leave me alone. Shortly after approaching the mountain, an Ancient Fire Dragon decided to visit, and after a Bend Will Shout, we went to visit my new friends together.

Must be something they said, but my flame-belching mount took offense and fried all but two of the cultists. I could not understand how they survived; must be Dunmer was the thought at the time. So I chose to land and dismount, and hike back for more intel. But soon after landing, the Dragon chose to assault a nearby Orc Stronghold, and as those are allies, I got my longbow involved.

Now the resultant battle took place over a fairly nice chunk of territory; from the Orc Stronhold almost all the way back to the cultists. Between the drake retreating to heal, or interlopers such as leveled Ice Trolls interrupting our private disagreement, it took the entire day, and that was at a timescale of 10; not 20. In the end, the Dragon chose to leave and lick his wounds, and my Archery, Restoration, and Sneak received a few points for the excursion; a major reason I chose not to reload.

Of course, mods improved the fight, but it was worth it.

P.S. The two surviving cutists were invulnerable; frozen in place as eternal gladiators. I am hoping a visit after enough time with reset the area, but even if it doesn't, the battle was worth the broken quest; did not plan to get the artifact anyway.

@krul2k,

Thanks,

Yeah, right now I'm going through and eliminating mods I don't really use anymore. Then I'm just going to turn the rest off until I can get out of the cave. If that doesn't work then I'll definitely add on the alternate start mod. I really don't want to uninstall and lose my character if I don't have to, I intend on dabbling in that playthrough for some time.

I'll post my progress.

man sounds awesome :D im using Deadly Dragons so the dragons it adds and the difficulty of them scaled ads for some epic fights like you just descrbed, also can lead to some epic tears from myself though

Yep; Deadly Dragons is a wonderful mod, as it is highly customizable for each indv Player. I prefer to buff defensive things like Attributes, Armor, and Magic Resist only; no offensive boosts. And normally, these battles are only a tad longer than Vanilla.

Today, the Dragon kept wanting to fight other nearby foes or simply fly away to heal which I would normally reload. But I had already had so much fun trying to preserve allies and dropping mutiple enemies that I chose to save the entire fight. And this DB is not using the Enchanting perks at all; utilizing loot found or purchased goods.

I tend to agree with Yandros on this kind of thing: if it happened all the time it would be somewhat obnoxious, but when it occurs as infrequently as a boss fight for a dungeon, it feels more substantial and enjoyable.
