if your using mods turn them off and start a character, if not god knows

http://skyrim.nexusm...com/mods/9557/?

Thats an alternate start mod, basically allows you to miss out helgen and start your on life, its safe to use as i use it all the time and its setup so to start the main quest all you need to do is do the quest it assigns you upon entering the world, im posting it because it should solve your problem if you dont find a solution to the problem and even if uninstalled it wont corrupt your saves or shouldnt

Well, I decided to forego mod triage, or even bothering to disable, and went right for the gold with the Alternate Start-Live Another Life Mod.  It worked flawlessly!

And btw, it is a badass mod. I chose the Left to Die path, and found myself at the start pretty much in the middle of nowhere without a weapon, or anything else for that matter. Good call. Much appreciated.  Looking forward to seeing how much of a difference it makes in the game.

Thanks again.

Well, I've never tried that  specific mod, but if it's anything like other  "exit-the-intro-with-no-starting-gear" mods for other RPGs, it won't make much of a difference in your game after about a half hour.

In the case of Skyrim, the very first Bandit you kill will drop just about every type of equipment you would have normally acquired from  trudging through the game's prologue, and story-wise, there'll be virtually no difference at all, due to  Skyrim's sandbox nature  (nothing is stopping you from just heading to  Riverwood to get the main quest started, or even skipping riverwood and just going straight to Whiterun, Solitude, or Windhelm)

Well, when I came to, I found I was dropped right in the middle of those steam springs south of Windhelm, with nothing more than a set of miner's clothes. A few fist fights with wolves and bandits, and a protracted iron axe fight or two later [still have 'Many more NPC in the Wild' on, and of course these were all hostile encounters], I got myself to Windhelm without dying. I was getting $#!+ for drops.

Still took me about three hours to finish the initial quest, being that I got distracted in Whiterun and Riverwood once I made my way back west, to do a little smithing and farm some gold to quickly improve my gear.

It was a good, if different, way to start; and helped me bypass the New Game bug I had encountered. I'm just heading back to Riverwood now, to pick up the main story.

I think I'm even more distracted in this playthrough and trying not to metagame is becoming a chore.

I do not have the eye for such things.  I bet real dollars Addai could make an awesome orc...she actually made a decent looking female dwarf in DA which i did not think was possible.

LOL  Sereda Aeducan tips her hat.

I had a female orc.  She looked ok, nothing too out of the ordinary.

I wish Bethesda would give some token payment to modders for SFW mods of non copyrighted material and publish them on Xbox Live/PSN for a price.

That would be cool for later TES titles.

I doubt Microsoft or Sony would agree with that, they're the problem when it comes to modding for consoles. Why on Earth they do not allow it is beyond me. Probably because they don't want people making free stuff they could charge for.

Well this way it wouldn't be modding but 'official' DLC from the company, hence charging for it on the consoles and if they felt particularly ruthless: any poor PC players who hadn't gotten around to downloading the Mods before Bethesda bought up the rights to them.

That would never work.  Sony and Micro$oft wouldn't allow it.  And there's not enough money in it for Bethesda to bother once they go through the QA and licensing process.

Still wouldn't happen, I'm sure the idea has come  up on more than one occasion and I'm pretty sure they've refused. I'm also not so sure I want to pay for a mod just so people with consoles can get it and I don't want them controlling mods either, if they start charging they're going to want people to start making mods in a way that M$ and Sony want them done because they'll "sell" and that will limit the creativity of some people, which is an important part in modding, so in the end it'd basically end up like DLC and in the end Bethesda would just figure it'd probably be cheaper to make it themselves rather than to pay some modders to make content for them.

Take EA for example, DA2 didn't have a modding tool or kit or whatever you want to call it. Why? simple, they don't want to spend the money on creating one and they don't want players creating free content that they can make themselves and later on charge for it as well. There's a reason they release gimmicks like armor packs and weapon packs. If they'd allow modding in consoles I'm pretty sure it'd be overpriced at least in the way its being suggested which is pretty dumb.

One of the Daedric quests might fit the bill: save the Orcs from their problems. While often such quests are not that noble, this one yields the chance to aid your people as you deem fit.

Also, the Companions quest can be be for the righteous, depending on your choices. And both Colleges offer opportunity for an Orc wanting to break the mold.

And Dawnguard offers the training as a Vampire Hunter, if you are on the PC. These are only a few quests, but are ones I enjoyed with my Orc.

Doing the jarl's quest in Morthal is also the right thing to do. Destroying the raiders for the warehouse people in Windhelm as well.

  There are hundreds.

Retrieve the Golden Claw for Lucan

Retrieve the forge-master's fingers for Orc Stronghold x.

Malacath's quest.  (contrary to popular belief, you actually have to take the Honest, honorable, Route to achieve the optimal result in that one, despite the fact you're doing a Daedra's bidding.)

Also the Skooma quest in Riften is a decent one

There are a lot of quests for good guys, it would be easier to note wich quests are solely evil:

- a house of horrors
- Boethiah's calling
- Pieces of the past (kind of, since I don't consider killing Silus evil as he approves of the mythic dawn actions and thus he had it coming)
- All other daedric quests have good alternate paths or are simply neutral
- All dark brotherhood quests
- Thieves guild is pretty controversial, but some don't consider them exactly evil.
- The forsworn conspiracy is an big mess as everybody in there can be considered evil, so I would advise to just kill all the prisioners and silver blood after he give you the ring.

And these are the only quests were you are really forced to do evil things.

To me, it's Mods Gone Wrong™. Found it in a Favorite Crushes thead. And I'm considering adding Eola as one of mine, hehe.

Meh, I never enjoyed this kind of mods, especially the ones for face and hair, they make the charcter look fake and artificial to me. And I also think the CBBE body mod is very exagerated. No more blocky faces is all I need.

Yeah the only body or face mod I use is XCE and maybe something for the eyes, the rest isn't worth it because it is either just for female characters or it makes female characters look like super models, some people also go overboard with those mods to the point that I have heard someone made  a transgender body. If you ask me all those smooth skin mods, those body mods and all that are useless, they add nothing to Skyrim, their only purpose is making your character look "good" and that depends on your standards. That Lydia picture is just an example, but there is much worse than that in Nexus.

Why some people download to bother that is beyond me and why some guys play female characters exclusively for that reason is also disturbing, I have no problems with guy using a female character but I do find it stupid that someone would choose to use a female character to see her naked, to use skimpy armor mods or the stupid excuse of "I don't like seeing a guy's ass while I'm playing, I;d rather see girl's ass". I know I'm supposed to not care about this because it isn't my game but sometimes that's just difficult to do.
