If you dislike this place so much why don't you just leave? I have a question for you. Why? Why keep coming here for years to insult everyone who disagrees with your opinion? Why does it matter if someone thinks differently than you do about Skyrim? Why come here to insult and force your opinion on everyone? Do you think anyone is going to change their mind about Skyrim just because you don't like it? Why do you keep wasting your time? For someone who claims to dislike Skyrim so much you sure do post here a lot.

I told you people to stop using the "if you don't like X, go away" scrub logic. It's the most common defense when you are angry and have nothing to add to the conversation. Where would any restaurant be if they told their customers to **** off if they didn't like their food. Or any business to tell their customers to go away because they didn't like their service
I am actually giving criticism on the mechanics of the game and am highlighting core problems and massive gameplay issues. I have even given recommendations to which mods to download to circumnavigate many of Skyrim's problems.
I don't dislike Skyrim. I love it. It's the best waifu cancer simulator ever. It's just a bad game and here is why, and here is how to make it a better game
If any of you cared about game design, you would debate with me on what Skyrim needs and how to improve it. That's the thing, none of you actually care about playing games. You just want cancer toy simulators where you shut your brains off and roll around the ground. The difference is that I understand that these qualities do not make Skyrim a game, but a toy, yet you get so mad when I tell you the obvious traits that make Skyrim a poor game. I still enjoy it for what it is, but it can be so much more better. I want discussions with people who actually care about gameplay so they can improve their own gameplay experience and perhaps I may learn different viewpoints.
So far, most of you are butthurt fanboys who don't understand game design, or would probably even care because all you want is mindless degenerate "fun" for the sake of mindless degenerate "fun"

I'm not sure about this, but on the internet and on forums, I am used to arguing with people all the time. Perhaps I am so desentesized that I do not take everything negative to be an insult. Or maybe you are too sensitive to criticism and information.
Or maybe you just don't actually know what to say to me because I talk about the actual game, which is something you never bothered to do

Sure, let's discuss combat. As Yrkoon stated, there are ways to interact with the environment (via Shouts and the like) to make certain things happen. As you (I think it was you) stated, there are things you'd expect to be able to interact with, such as water with lightning, to make something else happen. In Deus Ex: HR, you would be electrocuted if you stepped in water that had been electrified.
Is that the only thing you'd want to see improved upon, or are there other specific things you have in mind that you would like to see? Maybe if you reference specifics in other games, it would help?
For me, personally, I agree that there were some wasted opportunities in that regard. To reference a different game, there is a spell in Dragon's Dogma (Frigor) that allows the caster to create a giant chunk of ice that can be used as a stepping stone. How handy would that be, in some dungeons (Miraak's temple, for instance), to be able to use that spell, and easily jump up to higher levels? Or use it to scale mountains easier?
Another DD reference would be the petrification sigil, that can be used to turn enemies to stone. In that game, you can actually witness the enemy moving slowly at first, then gradually turning into stone - their bodies start to turn brown, until they're literally turned to stone. Some of the ice spells work the same way (similar to the Ice Form shout). When using fire spells, you witness the enemy catching on fire. Flying creatures can be brought to the ground if you shoot fire at their wings.
This to me is something I wish Skyrim did better. You can use fire and see the flames, but the enemy doesn't really react how you'd expect. Sure, they might flee, or turn to ash if you had the appropriate perk, but I'd want to see more of a visual representation of the effect on the enemy without that requirement.

the most notable example I stated before, was a dragon picking up a mammoth, throwing it at you and killing you with physics. This was apparently during beta testing and it was scheduled to be in main release after they fixed out some A.I hamperings. But they never did because not enough time/resources, which later went into making the snow look prettier, which was a joke because a user created mod would later impor textures he made on Blender.
This interaction's code still exists in the game but requires a great deal of unlocking and knowledge which I have no privy of.
Stepping stone spells exist in mods, pathing however is very poorly made.
what I really want is Dishonored's swordplay. More emphasis on geography of hits, and blocking and footplat.
Remember, Video games are about making choices. Good games have reasons to use different spells, but in Skyrim each spell is basically the same thing with a different color. Some user created mods have actually introduced several new spells with this design in mind
DO NOT DOWNLOAD MIDAS MAGIC, It's overpowered bull**** for the sake of overpowered bull**** and adds further cancer to the deteriorating gameplay.

If that's true about the snow, that's very sad. I have seen dragons pick up mammoths, but the aspect of throwing them at your Dragonborn would have been cool. I'm on xbox, so I'm not able to use mods or look into code, so I'm stuck with what is actually there in the vanilla game, unless I want to switch over to pc, but that's another discussion entirely.Lazengan wrote...

Ugh, pathing. That's something that drives me nuts in Skyrim. Every time I've gone to Mzinchaleft to retrieve Grimsever, my follower and any summons I have can't walk in through that main entrance. It's like there's an invisible wall there, so they go around. And they get stuck on trees, rocks, behind doors, and blah. I used the Dead Thrall spell on Commander Maro, and he never did make it out of the first dungeon I took him in. I think a trap may have permanently caught that weasel.
I couldn't comment on Dishonored's swordplay, as I haven't played it. I have it, but haven't tried it out yet. That's first person only, right? Do you know of any video examples of the hitting, blocking, footplay you're referring to? That might make it easier to discuss.

What exactly is "cool"? I think chainmail bikinis are cool. Lots of folks don't. You think dragons hurling mammoths are cool. I think if a dragon had the strength/supernatural ability to pick up and hurl a mammoth with the accuracy to use it as a projectile, then every bite attack, claw rake, tail smash, and wing slap would instantly pulverize the PC and end the game at the first dragon fight at the Western Watchtower. And no doubt there would be a Bioware forum user who would continually post in this thread mocking the utter stupidity and the inconsistent application of physics while calling me a butthurt fanboy.

Dishonored's swordplay is quite good. If you aim towards a party of the body, the enemy will attempt to block it. Whether or not the hit lands depends on many factors, like speed of the thrust, how much you were moving before, their stamina in blocking hits. So hitting the leg would be blocked, but then immedeatly aiming towards the head right after, would land a hit. The system is very consistent and not RNG based.
Your Character that you control is Corvo, and he also has an array of traps, ranged weapons, and magic
view this video
see how instead of going for a full frontal attack, he uses the teleport spell to teleport behind his opponents, they become bewildered, and he uses this opportunity to attack them from behind
standing still and spamming the attack button is skyrim combat. Look how simple yet eloquent it is in Dishonored. Attacking from angles and using momentum

what I find to be good gameplay is then the developpers gives users the tools to do what ever they want, and the players use these tools to do amazing and creative things
For example the dragon + mammoth is using a physics engine to kill you. It's not the mammoth is scripted to be a projectile and then does an increment X amount of damage. The damage is based upon the weight of the mammoth and the momentum of the throw.
People using the Fus ro dah Shout. Using it to throw enemies off cliffs is the most simple application. I once used it on destructible terrain (courtesy of a mod) and flind derbis on top of bandits which then threw them into a Thalmor patrol and started a brawl. It was completely unpredictable, chaotic, and fun
As for Aesthetics, yes chainmail bikinis are cool, but so are chainmail mankinis
