I thought you were being sarcastic

I don't think any sane human being can play vanilla skyrim for more than 20 hours

I have 18 characters, and over 1500 hours in with vanilla Skyrim.

I'm also part of the glorious console master race (xbox). Image IPB

If that makes me insane, I embrace my insanity. The lunatics have taken over the asylum!

You are just full of bad analogies today.

Did you actually compare an analysis of Skyrim with the sky being blue, something that can be scientifically explained?

Did you just say that people thought Star Wars was good because of its special effects? Wow.

yea

Lucas expressed his desire to update the visual effects because many of his fans loved space battles in 4-6. As I said people don't know what they want, and they thought that better visuals would automatically equal a better experience

1.  That's not the same thing as people thought Star Wars was good because of its special effects.  It is an artist expressing his desire to improve upon one particular aspect of his creation.  And Lucas's reasons went beyond fan feedback.

2.  Improved special effects is not mutally exclusive with improving a film.

3.  I think you are annoyed because you just don't get to the Cloud District very often.

Resources acquitted into special effects in making something pretty rather than making something conceptually different. I don't think that it can be excused as the sole reason that "bought away" lucas' time, but I know for sure it was a huge investment that did not pay off

but HOW?!

it's so BORING

and everything is so ugly. The grass, the people, the effects. You know it's the female modders that make all these visual enhancement and cosmetic mods right?

you are a crazy woman

I think you should play more video games

and I mean video games, not visual treats and interactive movies. Try some RTS games

I enjoy the crazy. 420+ hours, one character.

I obviously get something out of it that you don't. Image IPB

And trust me, I play plenty of games. Ask my husband, who barely sees me, because I have my head up some game or another's arse.  I can actually tune him completely out while I'm playing. Kinda mean on my part.

I like how you guys circlejerk one another Image IPB

Most of us that post in this thread have been coming here for months, even years. After all that time together, it makes sense that we'd interact with each other, doesn't it? Many of us have become friends.

We're a cool bunch in here, even if we don't always agree. But this is our Skyrim sanctuary, which makes us protective of the game, and of our 'family'.

so you've spent years talking about your waifu/husbando simulator without really thinking much about the game itself. It's not that I think differently, I love my waifu. I just think it's cancer and I accept that Skyrim is bad.

But I try

I try everyday to make it a better game. And for all the efforts I invested, I think it's possible that Skyrim can become a decent game

I'm surprised to see people enjoying Vanilla skyrim

on console nonetheless

(really pains me to read this btw urgh)

Lovely.  And you took that with a camera amirite?

I don't agree that Skyrim is a bad game. I realize it has flaws, just like every other game out there, but those flaws don't ruin the game for me. Sure, I've thought about gameplay. I just don't care as much about it as you do.

My favorite things are related to the scenery, the character creator, the race options, etc. The combat is even fun, the way I do it. Sure, it's not perfect, but instead of crying about it, I adjust my playstyle, and do what I enjoy.

That in itself is probably a fault in your eyes, but like I said, it's a low priority for me. It's not like the DirecTV commercials, where it's annoying like a turtle biting your finger, or a bunch of kids in driving school all hit your car at once. It's more like a fly landing on my hand. A small annoyance, but overall, no big deal.

I was wondering: Once you complete Dawnguard, aren't the vampire attacks supposed to stop? In my latest playthrough I still get those. I can't remember that it happened in my other ones.

They continued for me, I think. I come across the random vampire trick that always fails them.

I don't think so. None of my saves with which I completed Dawnguard did not have vampire attacks happening later on.

Yep, that's from my tv, with my digital camera. Admittedly, I have some with those weird lines in them - that happened a lot with the ashy scenery in Solstheim, so I never did get many good shots there.

I love seeing scenery photos in this thread. They fill my heart with joy. Image IPB

Heh, you know, that's why I usually buy games with gorgeous scenery on PC even if I believe the console version, in my case PS3 only, is superior (which is not the case with Skyrim). So much easier to take quality screenshots. :)

Talking about eye candy. I've recently added some mods that improve the scenery. A richer landscape, better snow and upgraded the towns a bit. I wish there was one which also improved the ground and road textures a bit. Did anyone come across a good one? I prefer a workshop version.

I happen to play games for gameplay

if I wanted a story I would read a book. I guess Skyrim does offer a fantasy world simulator that most other games do not showcase

ironically, Skyrim has better storytelling than Dragon Age since it's told through gameplay, but Dragon age has better combat than Skyrim

HOW CAN YOU ENJOY THE SCENERY WITHOUT ENB?!!

the hundreds of PC texture MODS

I think you'd be surprised at how good Skyrim can look on a 55" 1040p 3D LED / 240hz. Image IPB

With our old DLP, we absolutely HAD to have HD programming, or regular channels looked like arse. And that was also 1080p. With this new tv, we could watch a crappy old VCR tape, and it would look stunning. I don't know what kind of magic they infused in this tv, but I like it.

Some areas in Skyrim have bad textures, for sure. And with one of the later patches, some areas with running water turned into gaping holes in the terrain. Usually that's fixed with a restart. But overall, it looks pretty good. Better than you'd expect, anyway. Not pc quality, but you can't win them all.

And then suddenly I look up at the sky, or walk through the trees, and all is right with the world.

I am a sucker for eye candy. And really, unmodded Skyrim doesn't offer much that. I recently bought a new rig, just to be able to play games which offer great graphics in combination with great gameplay. Skyrim isn't using a fraction of the machine's potential. The funny thing is that I keep coming back to Skyrim. It's not perfect, but I can't get enough of it. ;)

Well, the glorious console master race is about to upgrade to legendary perks soon, so then we can enjoy some moar eye candy with our glorious PC master race brethren.
