Don't know, But the Fallout IP itself is the red headed step-child of the RPG Genre. Before we can predict its future, we'd do well to look at its history. It was born as an experimental 'spiritual successor' to Wasteland, and then, after it  established itself as its own entity,  it changed hands, not once, not twice, but 3 times - from Black Isle, to Micro Forté Studios, to Bethesda, to Obsidian. In the meantime, its release schedules have been similarly unpredictable. The first 2 came out a year apart from each other, then the next one came out 3 years later. And then.... 7 years later the 4th one came out. After that, we got yet another Fallout, a 5th one,  but this time, without an episode number in its title.

It's already total guesswork to even assume the next Fallout will be called Fallout 4, and that says nothing of who's going to be making it, or  if it's even going to be made.

So... is there a canon, any type of lore? Or is it like Star Trek, where anyone and everyone can just make up any stuff and cram it in??

(Not familiar with Fallout)

Yeah, there are stories and lore to the Fallout games, although there are always additions to the overall story with every game. There's an unofficial Fallout wikipedia with information if you're interested in getting more information about the mythos of the games.

I've always had Skyrim on xbox but got Steam 3 weeks ago. With that I got Skyrim and decked it out with mods like no other. So much fun with all the different mods that add new quests, graphics, characters, weapons, and so on.

Which ENB? It looks similar to mine, yet it doesn't. I feel your ENB is more saturated. Here is a screenshot from my setup for comparison:

Do you play with DoF?
When I activate it in my game, I feel dizzy after a while, because of the constant change of the focus.

I use static depth of field for a blurrier distance scene (to hide the pathetically ugly distance LOD that Skyrim has). I don't use dynamic depth of field, unless I want to make pretty screenshots.

I use it, never been dizzy with it, but sometime it starts causing FPS problems whenever you're in an area with many NPCs, I've never had that problem with Skyrim yet, but it has happened with New Vegas. Sometimes it is bothersome though.

For me DoF adds a lot to the atmosphere. Largely makes textures look beautifull, regardless of their actuall resolution... prevents them from having that oversharpened, artificial look as well. Obviously helps a ton with the LoD too.

Hey what exactly makes a character a "ranger"? Kinda like a scout??

In classic fantasy, Rangers are sorta like Robin Hood. Usually they're archers, and most of the time they have an affinity/kinship with the forest. The animals come to their aid. They shun cities and only venture there on specific missions that require it. You *could* attribute scouting to their skill set, but only because if you meet a ranger, he or she will likely be able to guide you through the safest path through the woods.

A class that fits Argonians and Wood Elves best if you ask me and not because of any traits or any of that nonsense but because of the environments that they live in. But then again, Valenwood and Argonia are only similar to Skyrim in the way all three have swamps and forests but Skyrim has snow and tundra, so in a way I'd say the most suitable race for a Ranger at least in Skyrim would be a Nord.

Yes there is, but you also have clowns like Bethesda which don't abide by it and make up a ton of nonsensical crap.  That's why Fallout 3 should be looked at as more of a spinoff game, rather than a true Fallout game.

After a while you just run out of things to talk about regarding Skyrim. I think I've finally reached the point where I really have seen and done everything in Skyrim. Mods managed to keep this game interesting for a long time, but even when it comes to mods I haven't seen anything new that I thought was worth my time for a while now.

I guess Skyrim indeed is finished.

The fact that there's no more DLC is a contributor to this and the way they finished Skyrim was also sloppy. Everything will soon slow down for the game, even modding, especially if they come up with Fallout 4. I'm sure the next gen consoles had a lot to do with this happening. I hope it didn't have to do with any deals Microsoft might have made with Bethesda, because if they did, then the same old crap will continue to happen with the timed exclusive DLC for xbox. Although, the xbone's less than stellar reputation might change that.

Not to worry. For those of us who have been in this thread a while, this is normal.  You'll see over the last several hundred pages (out of 1300 pages I should say...on a competitor's social site!) there have been periods where there have been even larger gaps between posts. It's to be expected, Skyrim's been out since 11-11-11.

Nah, Skyrim's not finished, it's just less attended. But this thread will continue to revive itself, because people takes breaks only to pick it up again, mods are continuously being developed, and people love this game and want to talk about it, even if we are fewer in number.

Yes, but I don't use it anymore. I use Nvidia's FXAA instead.

For lighting I use:

- Superb ENB-RL
- Relight Skyrim
- Relistic Lighting (this one came with the ENB that I use).

The damage may already be done for now.  I don't think Skyrim being dropped just before the Xbox One reveal and E3 is a coincidence.  Sad.  Sad, sad, sad.

Project Reality: Climates of Tamriel is my lighting mod of choice, as well as top mod overall. Highly configurable in many areas; outdoors and inside.
