Yes, she's a chatterbox, but she is indestructible and is a death dealing machine in close combat with two-handed. I always thought it was weird that her quest revolves around Grimsever (a sword, which is supposedly her favored weapon), but she's spec-ed for two-handed.

The Unofficial Patch (PC only) makes Grimsever a two-handed sword, according to the  UESP WIKI.

God its fun to play while your magic recharges at 200% (tuning gloves)

Enchantment can be fun for a bit, but may make the DB a little too overpowered at times; had to return to a previous save as nothing at my lvl could challenge me. This time I will not bother with the Skill, and play with loot in the game.

You'll want to keep that in mind if you transmute ore.

With some experimentation I found that Grand quality soulstones do not cap the benefits obtained from using them (in other words, the sky's the limit), which is not true for the lower quality soulstones. If you want to limit your enchantments, don't use Grand Soulstones or Asura's Star. Image IPB

Well, your skill's the limit (and the potency of an elixir, if you drink one).
Hardly makes sense to use anything other then Grand/Black/Azura's soulstones for late-game enchanting. The lesser souls are just to weak.

I realize that, but some are complaining about being too powerful, so I offered some advice for hamstringing enchanting. Up to them. I prefer being godlike so only Grand soulstones for me. :D

Well, that's a possibility, I suppose. But IMVHO then it's better to skip Enchanting entirely. There are decently powered items that can be found/bought. No double effect though :) ... and slightly hampered by the level scaling and the fact that some of the most valuable treasures (such as Daedric artifacts, many unique armor sets) cannot be enhanced nearly as well as plain items in the vanilla game. Well, fortunately that's nothing a mod couldn't fix.

If one were to limit the potency of enchantments, limiting oneself to just 1 or max 2 of each type would be a much better solution IMO. So a max of 50% spell cost reduction, +100% of skills, etc.

I still cannot understand for the life of me why Bethesda has chosen to make the item, perk and potion bonuses fully stackable, rather than, for example, multiplicative.

Just don't grind any of the crafting skills, or combine them, if you're worried about being OP. I don't grind and I've never had a character that could enchant double effects, even my characters who specialize in enchanting.

What about a pure mage? I think a spellsword might need some enchanting perks, but maybe not a mage. Unless to give robes/gloves some extra punch

The Fortify Spell School enchantments seem quite useful, as well as Magika Regen among others. However, my mages wear armor, so this is based on theory.

How could you?! A real mage has no armor! Only their robes and undies!

None of them are as tough as Mjoll, as she's marked as 'essential', and thus can't be killed. Image IPB

At least according to the uesp wiki.

Mjoll is always essential, even after completing her quest, which means that she can never be killed.

Ghorbash the Iron Hand and Borgakh the Steel Heart are my favorites, but it's probably relative to the class you're looking for.

I believe it's UFO I installed that enables telling followers "you're important to me" which marks them as essential - now have a (so far) indestructible Ingjard.

Only thing is, I have Talvas following too, who is fireball-happy to say the least, and tends to send her into a crouch if there's a lengthy fight. Nobody invites a fireball-spamming mage for drinks. <_<

Battlemages? I guess a pure mage wouldn't wear armor but a battlemage would.

Battlemages wear heavy armor. There are also Nightblade (Eola) and Spellsword (Belrand) mage types, that wear light armor. There are probably others, too, but I'm a little Skyrim rusty.

It's kind of annoying Bethesda did not include ANY, let alone decent, non-armored enchanted gear mages could use for the arms and feet slot.

Perhaps the Shrouded sets of clothing available from the Dark Brotherhood might help, as well as the items owned from the former Archmage in the College.

So, ladies and gentleman, fillies and gentlecolts-

Who's planning to get Elder Scrolls Online, what platform if so, what race, class, etc etc?

Clothing comes in gloves, boots, body and head items. They provide no armor, but can be double-enchanted. I like to make a set of blacksmithing clothes, alchemy clothes, etc., for fun. They can also be worn out in the field as long as you play a build that doesn't require armor to survive. And for sneaking they are awesome because they produce no noise. Alas there are few good looking (lore-wise) clothing mods. Most are half or mostly-naked designs. :P

FYI - There is another thread for TESO., I believe. That said, after seeing how often I require Pause funtionality, I may have to pass. However, If I were to play, I lean towards the Bretons, Orcs, and Redguards as an alliance.

Not I, initially, unless my friend desides to try it out. We're both enjoying GW2 quite a bit.

If I do play this it will be on PC. Not sure what race/class, etc. because I haven't studied any pre-release data. I tend to make humans though so possibly Breton or Nord. It would depend on how fun the combat is in terms of melee versus ranged, and so on. For example in WoW I preferred range dps, in Age of Conan I gravitated toward healer/dps, and in GW2 I absolutely love melee.

In singleplayer ES games I have come to love the stealth assassin/mage type of build, but I'm not sure that would work in a game designed to require groups.

Not me, I don't like MMOs and to be frank TESO doesn't sound all that astonishing. Plus, you can't use Imperials if I remember correctly, that would be a minor concern though.

For me, when I feel my character is becoming OP...and I admit to having a single minded focus in each game to max crafting skills, so it becomes an issue early on...I begin to ratchet up the difficulty, and start shedding the companions I tend to collect with UFO modded on.

I know that many don't want to do that, because being one-shot or killed instantly by some random electro-mage can become quite frustrating, and grinding garden variety fights can become un-fun to say the least, or being disarmed more frequently and always hunting for that 7500 gold double enchanted weapon after a fight...and these are certainly not the reasons many play Skyrim; but at least you don't walk around Skyrim like a bully walking the hallway. Not the preferred solution I admit, like I said, it can become quite a grind, but at least it is a way to address the problem.

And I probably will at least try ESO. Seems about as close to the sweet spot of MMOs as anyone is going to get for me personally.

I doubt I will get ESO. But... then again, who knows!

I wanted to like this but from what I have seen it is more Oblvion than Skyrim and more standard MMO format than Elder Scrolls, two directions I'd rather not go down.
