I will get ESO.

Planning to play a Bosmer, which means Aldmeri Dominion for me.

Ebonheart Pact(Nords, Dark Elves, Argonians)
Aldmeri Dominion(High Elves, Wood Elves, Khajiit)
Daggerfall Covenant(Bretons, Redguards, Orcs)

I'm thinking I'll go for archery and sword/board or dual wield. We'll see.

As for the ESO thread, I posted in it but got no response in turn so I figured I'd bring it up here since its ES related. :P

Gonna get the Mac version, methinks. Reason being that the game runs on megaservers-

PC/Mac
X1
PS4

And MMO's work better on PCs, so my keyboard and trackpad will be > my X1 controller down the line.

I'm still waiting for the price points and the like.

What about a pure mage? I think a spellsword might need some enchanting perks, but maybe not a mage. Unless to give robes/gloves some extra punch

The Fortify Spell School enchantments seem quite useful, as well as Magika Regen among others. However, my mages wear armor, so this is based on theory.

Well yes. Just don't overdo things. Getting 100% discount on spell schools is kinda ridiculous IMVHO (and kills the purpose of having Magicka and mastery perks in the first place).

Regarding ESO, its an MMO. That's pretty much all I need to know about it.

I signed up for X1 and Mac betas.

We'll see what happens.

I'm excited.

I've been following the ShoddyCast Youtube Channel and http://tamrielfoundry.com for information and discussion on ESO.

Good stuff.

Signed up for TESO beta the day it was available but no luck. I plan on Dunmer Nightblade which has been my traditional first character for all TES games. Was even trying to organize a BSN guild if there were enough interested.

Guilds are cross-alliance, meaning it doesn't matter what race you play or what alliance you're a part of, you can still be a part of the same guild.

Thing is, I heard that you can only access your alliance's home territories in the game. That is, until max level, level 50.

Then you can access another alliances' lands. After you complete their main quests, then you can head to the last alliances' lands.

But- and this sucks in my opinion, you will NOT see other players outside of your alliance in their home territories. You will only see players of your alliance.

Meaning if I'm playing Aldmeri Dominion and I visit Morrowind, I won't see Dark Elves, Nords, or Argonian PLAYERS. Just NPC's belonging to those races, as well as fellow High Elves, Wood Elves, and Khajiit.

Thats...weird. I don't feel good about that.

The only way to see players of the other alliances is to play PVP in Cyrodiil.

How could you?! A real mage has no armor! Only their robes and undies!

Or just the undies, according to some people.

I play battlemages.  Which is to say, I play mages with some common sense.

TESO is an abomination and should die a quick and merciful death.

It's going to bastardize the lore with MMO silliness. It's already doing it, by making the Altmer so cheap and bland. Some of these areas haven't been shown in a game before, and the first look anyone will get of it is in the MMO. No matter what they say, Bethesda will be pressured not only to market the MMO via the SP games, but also to make the lore uniform.

That's why I can't just not care about it.

Not afan of MMO's myself, but this company - an affialiate of bethesda - has hired a Loremaster to supposedly keep things correct. I would have guessed this might appeal to fans of the lore like yourself.

Also, Todd Howard is checking things to make sure they stay on track. His approval works for me.

My only worry is continued  IP  focus from the company's point of view.    If this MMO ends up being ridiculously successful, will we ever see an ES6?

They hired the wrong guy.  There's only one guy that could do this job right and that's Michael Kirkbride, the one responsible for a lot of the original lore including the redguard, Dunmer and Altmer.

You can already see it.  I mentioned the Altmer because that's the most egregious.  They're supposed to be the most arcane, alien race and they've been turned into LOTR elves with babe factor.

Personally I am just waiting for it to come out or getting into the beta.

Although I would much rather get a TES6 about fighting the Thalmor.
Not another fantasy MMO with a TES skin on it.

You know...I cant wait for my new PC, since I will be able to play Skyrim on ultra then.

Its not the same team as the ones working on regular TES games.

This game isn't TESVI, nor will it get in the way of TESVI.

We'll still see another Todd Howard-led ES game coming years in the future.

This just happens to be a wonderful treat to enjoy in the mean time.

If you do not literally fall asleep when you look at their Altmer concepts, then congratulations.

Instead of being an Elder Scrolls game, it's the blandest, most generic, pop-consumer world they could come up with. Guild Wars 2 and WoW are visually and thematically more interesting than this. For Talos' sake, instead of simply going with the explanation Beth gave for why they made Cyrodiil bland and uninteresting in TES III, i.e. that Talos CHIM'ed the weird out of existence for the benefit of the legions who didn't like it- which was confirmed again in Heimskr's dialogue in Skyrim- TESO says that it was a "transcription error." The historians of that era somehow got wrong that the terrain outside their windows was temperate forest instead of jungle. Instead of a 128 year-old Altmer queen- which would still be very young- they turned her into a 28 year old temptress with bursting boobs.

So yeah, like I said. An abomination that needs to die.

Sorry; not seeing the same thing. But I am not a lore geek, nor care much about the past games, so I am easy to please here. That said, I am curious as to how certain things will actually work in a game w/o Pause (eg; potions, inventory, etc), as I live by it in Skyrim.

I left my Skyrim alone for a couple weeks then checked mods last night and spent an hour updating everything. Most notable was SkyUI getting a big update.

Same here. I'm not seeing whatever you're, Addai.

28 year old temptress with bursting boobs? Where? She is 28 of course(very young for an elf that can live a couple hundred years), but...temptress? Bursting boobs? Que?

I've promoted them for years, ever since Kivan first started providing patches for Baldur's Gate back in the day and basically started this whole Unofficial Patch thing. They have them for Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim, and so on. Always the first mods I install.
