Just a friendly reminder that if you have a question you want answered, it doesn't hurt to ask it.

The Witch Hunter not bad.  I applaud him for trying mounted combat but Storm Call + his Storm Atronach would have worked out much better.  His conductor move is also priceless.

Having got Skyrim on the PC, what mods are recommended?

That depends on what you're looking for. I can suggest some very good overhauls for Vampires and Werewolves. For vampires I'd suggest Better Vampires and Royal Bloodlines. They both modify vampires and vampire lords, but the second one is more toward vampire lords, they are both compatible, you'd just need to follow the load order instructions. For werewolves I'd say Werewolf Mastery and Moonlight tales, the first one allows you to modify things like health, stamina, "armor", magical resistance, transformation duration and cooldowns while Moonlight tales makes werewolves much more immersive since they can spawn randomly, infect you or any npcs they attack. It also has a function in which you can transform depending on how the moon is out. Both are compatible too, since both authors decided to work together to engineer a patch of sorts.

Thank you, I'll keep those mods in mind when I play my third/fourth playthrough.

^A few user-type suggestions, regardless of build.

Knapsack Backpacks - You craft them. Multiple options. Notable carry weight bonus. Your companions can use them as well.

Dovahkiin Hideout - Don't even bother with other housing mods, this one is the best "home" mod bar none. Comes with passable doorways to all vanilla player homes and guilds.

Unlimited Bookshelves - allows you to use shelves for displaying items and not just books.

More NPCs in the Wild - a great mod if you're looking for a more populated Skyrim in the wild. Adds Stormcloak, Imperial and Thalmor patrols that you can engage or assist. Also adds a lot of hunting parties and bandit encounters.

Weapon Variant Expansion - gives you more variation weapons within all types in the game - Ebony, Daedric, Dwarven, Steel, Glass, Iron, etc. You'll see them in loot drops and these are craftable at the forge as well.

Bandolier - Bags and Pouches - Adds a bit more panache to you character's look and they're damn useful as well, giving a great carry weight bonus. Craftable. Some of these will put you through the ringer and force you to hunt for more obscure materials to build the ones worth having. Give them to your companions.

SkyUI - the most downloaded mod on Nexus. Enough said.

UFO (Ultimate Follower Overhaul) - hire multiple companions, access NPC hard coded inventories, see each NPCs stat sheet, and many other customizable options for each follower. Comes with group commands if you're into leading a small squad across Skyrim. Combat balance can become an issue, resulting in boredom, if you hire on more than two followers, so adjust your difficulty up if this becomes a problem.

Some of these are only available on Nexus, most are in the Steam Workshop.

So I just bought Skyrim for my PC. I'm wondering what type of mods should I get? I've already played about 300 hours on Xbox, so I'm familiar to everything. I'm more of an archer player, are there any mods that add even more to that experience? Would high-text mods be worth it?

^Barbarossa's list is pretty good. Get SkyUI first and foremost and try out Moonpath to Elseweyr if you like cool environments.

If you're a mad warlock like me, you can pick up Conjuration Madness.

One of our BSN folks has this list; has been helpful in general selections:

After time, some of the texture mods can revitalize the experience. I recommend aMidianBorn Book of Silence for armors and weapons; seems to be system friendly.

Economics of Skyrim

Read the description to see what it changes.  It's also fully customizable in case you don't like a feature.

Respecing, but really there are mods that do it better anyways. I guess it works like a kind of "prestige mode" for some people. I don't use them and I don't think there's rarely any reason to use them.

That's how it is, and most of that garbage is unavoidable, by that I mean that even if you're not searching for it and have every sort of filter enabled in the Nexus you still find that crap all over. There's actually three of those useless crap mods in the files of the month. Last month there was one in 2nd place that was very disturbing and there's also a lot worse.

Thought the Nexus has the option to restrict which files are seen in searches. Ironically, most of the files I wish to avoid are placed in the so-called 'Adult' category....

It does but it doesn't matter. You'll still find stupid crap like skimpy armor or god knows what, I've enabled those filters and stuff like still appears or you'll also get the ridiculous super model companions with skimpy armor. It doesn't matter how much you try to filter your searches, that stuff always appears regardless. Its really annoying, there's no way to avoid it you search for mods in that place and I'm pretty sure there isn't a single category that doesn't have that stuff floating around. There's also the fact that not everything that has an adult tag is about skimpy armor and nudity and by filtering that you might also miss some good mods that are unrelated to those two categories.

If you want to keep leveling but don't want to use skills irrelevant to your character.  If you're a warrior that doesn't want to use magic or thieving to level, reset your 100 Blacksmithing after you've crafted and improved your gear.  Smithing starts over at 15 and you can continue to make dwarven bows for leveling.

Speech, lockpicking, alchemy and enchanting are also good candidates for legendarism.

agreed,it's really annoying.I want mods that enhance my experience, nudity doesn't.The funny part is that these mods usually have more downloads than the good ones

Yeah they do, the second mod on the top files of all time is one of them. I don't have a problem with those files being downloaded, the problem is that everything else gets buried by that stuff, filters or no.

There are mod lists above the forum sections...

OOOOH, you mean that kind

Ahh, dunno. But there's this cool mod that adds forestry to towns and in the world, I think. People here might know the name of it.

Huge skyrim mod. It's basically a DLC.
