Sorry but that is just awesome

There's more to IP copyright than whether you're harmed financially. This is the argument GRRM will make for why he doesn't support fanfiction at all. If you don't defend your IP in the little things, you're not able to do it later on when someone really is harming your business.Aaleel wrote...
One of the things they look at when determining fair use is whether the the potential sales/market of the original work is being hurt, and let's be honest it is not.
Even if this isn't fair use I highly doubt Behtesda would waste and employee hours in their legal department even for a paralegal or intern to make a cease and desist letter and send it certified mail or have this person served. It's not costing them any money.
Linking it on the web in different forums is probably doing more harm than anything because its free advertising. Honestly if the sample was so absurd I might have bought it for a dollar if it had looked interesting, but I saw it here. Plus it may give other people the idea to go and write their own and put it out.

That's interesting. I still think it's kind of dishonest, in that it violates the spirit of the thing, but as long as the IP owners are in agreement and someone's willing to pay for it, why not.

Nonetheless, is someone willing to pay for that? Especially that type of "fanfiction", I would hope not.

And especially when a lot of it is free on the internet. I suppose the writers think even if they only get a couple bucks from it, there's a sucker born every minute so why not put your stuff behind a paywall.Splinter Cell 108 wrote...

Sorry, but I must have my map markers. While the DB is a hero of many Skills, having a good sense of direction is not one of mine. I have had map course work in RL and know how to navigate from magnetic North, but still find myself heading towards Windhelm instead of Riftin far too often. I wish I could blame it on the stroke, but it has always been so. Using the iHUD mod, I do try and play w/o such hints all the time, but refuse to allow annoyance to lead gameplay.
Have no issues with the Journal myself, but agree that greater clarity would be helpful.

Oh I don't mind compass and map markers of major holds or such. I ment to speak of magical quest arrows, not of compass as a whole.
I mind it when quests like " Find a missing person nearby" or *Kill the bandit chief terrorizing countryside " have markers popping up on top of the very corpse.
I mind it when quest journal so often merely says " Find bandit camp" and you have to rely on magic arrow to tell you where it is. I'd much like arrow-free experience and journal entry stating " Find Bandit camp North-West of Riften" I much rather search and find. I consider these to be fun and satisfying things to do in game like Skyrim. Journal(even a modded Journal:l) doesn't much support player in this.
@Haplose
Aah yas, I personally consider fast travel a similar devil it happens:p Unlike magic arrows, fast travel is easy to disable and replace with some mechanism that offers a proper compromize between immersion and cosyness. I play with fast travel off but have carriages to and from every single Hold+ Hearthfire playerhouses. I found bit of a perfect balance from this.

I wouldn't be able to play Skyrim without fast travel. If you played Dragon Dogma, you know how much of an pain in the ass it's to have to go on foot from one corner of the map to another. It gets really frustrating after some time. Things that really annoy me, is how people magically know I stole something from them when nobody saw me enter their homes.

Two closely related things in Skyrim ****** me off muchly: Quest location pointers&Quest journal. Both are done by and to lazy ADHD people.
I suppose most agree Skyrim makes a game where exploration, travelling, discovering are very close to heart of it all. Yet, none of the main or side quests is that eager to give you an opportunity to do any of this: If you are given a task to find a missing corpse near the lake, you usually get a gigantic magical pointer arrow leading you straight home. This nmagic arrow appears in-game, on your map and in your HUD. You just don't get to explore, search and find in Quests.
What's much worse is how game's worthless excuse of a quest journal actually both assumes and even requires you to use the navigator arrows; quest descriptions are poorly written and lacking in directtions. I usually play with navigator arrows off. And very often come across situations where only clue or hint of approximate whereabouts or direction of thing X would be the goddamned magic arrow itself. Game does not fully support turning the arrows off. Skyrim is an exploration game where you don't have to explore.

I've tried this mod and played with the settings. Many of the graphically oriented settings actually make the game look worse (too dark, hazy, etc.). I need to see if I can disable all but changes to memory management so Realvision can do it's thing unimpeded.Endurium wrote...
No thanks, to that mod.
ENB has released this mod to help folks fighting system and video memory limits imposed by the game engine, and related CTDs. I'm going to check it out this weekend.
